CSB Pep Squad wins RX 93.1 Cheering Compeition!!! It's a THREE-PEAT!!!

Inaalay ko itong thread na ito sa CSB Pep Squad pexers dito!!!

Three years ago, we defeated UP (Galing ng mga girls nila sobra! Cute pa!) and UST (who at that time was represented by the Yellow Jackets lang). Last year, we were one-on-one with sister school Lasalle and we defended our crown. And this year, UST-Synergy Squad, ang FEU and Adamson were a bigger challenge in our bid to retain the crown. And we have proven again that hardwork pays off. Many thanks to the people who supported them in Strikezone last wednesday night. This victory is for the whole Lasallian community!

Siyempre sina Kiko, Joel, James bago, Gaffud, Alvin, Brandy, atbp. Sa girls eh sina Marj, Bianca, Britney paker, Trish, Libby, Abbey, atbp. A total of 28 performers.

Medyo alanganin ang tingin ko sa simula dahil ang ganda sobra ng performance ng UST-Synergy. Mas madami stunts at mabilis ang liftings. Crowd support ang advantage natin at maganda execution din ng mga stunts and pyramid, kasama na basket toss and chairs.

Naglabas na ng rules and guidelines ang WNCAA regarding the Cheering Competition. They specifically stated that no drums will be brought to the venue (for whatever reason...i don't know)...oh yeah, drum set lang ang pwede...but the WNCAA board has permitted us to record on tape the drumbeats and cheers. We have around 35 cheerleaders and the 35 will be performing to achieve the things we want to incorporate in the routines. The Lady Blazers will surely be there, to support and cheer for us, no doubt. But i don't think the WNCAA board will allow them to be on the floor. Nice suggestion though ;)

Do you have any new recruits? So far kasi sa panonood ko sa mga practice and performances ng csb pep squad, 15 or 17 girls lang yata ang pinakamarami kong nakita. So, I am thinking that most probably may mga bagong recruit na girls. Just please inform us kung kailan ang definite date ng competition. I'm very sure na maraming gustong manood. I believe our school is gradually gaining a reputation in having the best cheerleading squad in the Philippines. Again, what do you guys think?

nakaka-taba sa puso talaga ang suporta niyo. it wasn't easy when we started talaga. i remember making a survey from Benildeans back in 96 on what they think about their pep squad. Medyo maraming negative reactions, buti na lang at nag-persevere kami at pinatunayan na lang sa iba na kaya natin makipag-compete at manalo. many thanks to the previous presidents who paved the way for the new and improved pep squad.

I wonder why Perpetual's pep wasn't able to compete? Anu kaya nangyari sa kanila? And we hope to trailblaze cheerleading din sa NCAA since most of the cheerleaders and styles are mostly copied from San Beda, UST, Lasalle and Ateneo. Sana nga lang maiwasan gulo palagi dun para masaya palagi mag-cheer! Medyo huma-halo ang jazz dance sa cheerleading dun eh! :smokin:

Well, as of my last count, they were 35...or 25?! Yan tuloy napaisip tuloy ako!...hhhmmmmmm....anyway, they usually practice by groups because during the NCAA, only 10 people were allowed to perform kaya iba-ibang set ng girls ang nagpeperform pag halftime.

Congratulations to the CSB PEP SQUAD!

This is coming from a pioneer/team captain of the first batch of the squad.

I could remember those days when we were really struggling. We had only two bass drums and two snare drums. No one appreciated our efforts. We didn't have budget from the school. Lahat ng gastos from the uniforms/jackets to the fare to the games were all from our allowance. There was some uneasy feeling because we didn't know what the pep squad of DLSU would say about us.

I didn't know it would be the start of something BIG. It was just a bunch of students who came every Saturday trying to memorize ever step, arm movement, the correct stance, the cheers, the proper way of using your diaphram in the cheers and the hot sun. Good thing i finish ROTC before I joined the team. Wala pa kasing benefit na exempted ka sa ROTC.

There was no NCAA or UAAP gigs for us. We went to the NCRAA and tried in desperation to cheer for the team which was, at that time, not winning but was unsupported by the presence of the school. Kami-kami lang ang sumisigaw ng LASALLE SPELLING! Our transportation...kanya kanya din. Not to mention the feeling that we were wasting our time.

I still have the first DLSU-CSB PEP SQUAD JACKET (You might see me wearing it in CSB). May value sa akin yon because it somehow symbolized my authentic loyalty to my alma mater. At that time, Benilde was highlighted with the phrase.."Bagsakan ng Bobo" or "College ng Sosyal at Bobo". And most of them came from our brother school in the other side of the street. I firmly believe in what the college stood for as it would be an important characteristic of a Pep Squad member: To believe in the school no matter what.

Because Benilde was doing traditional DLSU cheers, I took the liberty to compose the BENILDE SPELLING. It was based on some moves from the LASALLE SPELLING but was modified. Since i knew a little sign language, the BENILDE spelling setup sign was the letter B of the sign language (kasi Benilde tayo). Good thing the letters B-E-N-I-L-D-E fit the rhythm for the drums. One Saturday practice, I thought the group how to do it. Unfortunately for me, I was never credited to its concepcion. I don't know why. If i placed my name and copyrighted it, I would have been given the right appreciation.

I had to leave the squad due to some personal disputes and advances in other endevors. Before graduating in Benilde, the squad was still struggling. Yet, they were gaining grounds and were raising an awareness that "THE LOUD AND PROUD" exist in the college.

At last, CSB has joined the NCAA. For years, we have been praying na masama kami. I was watching TV and you guys did the BENILDE SPELLING. I was surprised that you did the cheer because I didn't expect that it would go this far. I felt proud because I have made a unnoticed impact in my alma mater.

Now I'm back. I stop awhile whenever I see you guys practice. I'm very impressed with the progress. And I feel proud inside that you cheer for the college with all your energy and enthusiam.

Keep it up! Don't let the air get into your head! You know what I mean.

I'm glad to see that the first batch peppers like you have joined us here to support the New and Improved CSB Pep Squad. I myself, am a witness to the changes from my first year in 95 in the squad, till I retired (for the moment) in the present. Many thanks for the cheers you taught us, we just pass the skill and the knowledge through the years. And every struggle and criticism we receive became the driving forces for the squad to reform, reorganize and thus create a champion cheering squad. Humbled lahat as always. :smokin:

I've been with the squad since 96 and indeed it has come a long way since. When i entered the squad we only had 3 bass drums which were far from being loud. It really was hard to gain the respect of the people including the admi. In fact on the first and second rx competetions, the school didn't even know we joined and won but we did bring glory to the name of the school. It was hard to somewhat try to live up to the standards set by the dlsu pep squad but i think we have proven that we are just as good if not even better. We have beaten schools such as U.P, UST, FEU, ADAMSON, and DLSU in competetions. It's really a nice feeling to know that I's part of such a group and it's a better feeling to know that i contributed to make the squad what it is today! I think the advantage we have is that we have got heart and that is why we have had so much success. ANIMO BENILDE!!!

We defended the crown from 1999 till the turn of the millenium and then the 4th time (2001) we settled for 2nd place. Tapos hindi na nasundan, nor did the squad improved sa NCAA cheering competition. Sadly, the routines and stunts by other member schools were far superior to the squad that was performing with only girls. Last year, may boys nang sumayaw and from the traditional 8th place eh naging 7th na lang. ;)

Antayin mo na lang next cheering competition kung may improvement na sila. Wala din ako balita sa wncaa cheering competition nila so I'm hoping na mag-improve ang rankings nila since nandun na potential. :D

@Boss Altar, correction lang, di po tau 7th last year sa NC. 6th place kasi suspended ang PCU at SBC ang last.

At ako may update sa WNCAA. I even watched my friend na pep perform nun sa Rizal last sunday. Di tayo pasok sa final round dahil 7 lang pinili so malamang di tau top 7. Yun lang. Haha sana nakadagdag kaalaman sa mga babasa. :rotflmao:
