Hi. I hope there is something anyone can do about what I am about to say. This involves several high school kids in Paranaque National High School in Dr. A. Santos Avenue. It may not be physical or sexual abuse, but it's also as grave, so i still hope that this will be given attention nonetheless. I have met some of them during my visit to this school sometime this year. I prefer to keep the children's names confidential for their protection in case no action will be taken. There is one teacher for a subject called "Values Education" who abuses her students. It is only normal for kids to be naughty at times during class. I was once in high school. But this teacher, OPELIA GONZALES, swore never to teach them anymore after some of her students were caught talking during class. And she kept her word. She would just give quizzes and not teach them the lessons so some of them could fail due to lack of understanding of the lessons. She would also squeeze money out of her students like when she provides photocopies of the lessons and charge them like P1.00 or P0.50 per page. If the money she collects runs short, she would ask everyone to pay P1.00 each to make up for the missing amount and would say that the student who gives the highest amount will get a plus 10 in his or her grade. Another instance would be her P5.00 and above rule that she charges when a student is noisy. If a student merely opens his or her mouth, P5.00 would be charged. Also her charging of another P5.00 to a student if there is a piece of paper scattered near his or her seat. She makes an excuse like she will use the money collected to buy brooms. She assigned one student to list all the names of the noisy students so she can charge them at the end of the class. If no names are listed, she will assume that the one assigned is covering up for the rest and will charge the assigned student instead. She also threatened her students to call their lawyers if they dare. Pls keep in mind that these are children in public schools. Their families are striving to make both ends meet. Most of their parents dont have the guts to complain about this teacher due to lack of education and money. They also fear that this teacher can give the students failing grades anytime. Pls investigate this matter and do not just take my word for it. Better if someone goes there discreetly because this teacher, Ms Gonzales, will only put her best foot forward if she knows she's being investigated. You will only see her sitting in the classroom doing nothing until end of the period and listen to her ipod all day which I am almost certain that she bought using the money she collected from her students. I know some of her 3rd year and 2nd year students there. Some of them would call my home phone at night complaining about this monstrous teacher, but what can I do? I am only an outsider, anysuggestion or phone number to call for complaint will be much appreciated.
