Not true at all my friend...it's not that simple 'cause unlike spanish, chavacano is not that rigid in grammatical structure and doesn't care much about noun and verb agreement in numbers. In terms of Verb, chavacano has no conjugated verbs. The nouns as well as pronouns are not that particular with gender-the feminine and masculine form like "Las hermanas y Los hermanos". In chavacano we can say it "el hermana y el hermano". Therefore, we do struggle in these areas in studying Spanish. What comes handy are the Chavacano words 'cause about 75 to 85% of them are of spanish origin. In Zamboanga, chavacano exists in many forms. One would be very much close to castellano...the one spoken by Mayor Ma. Clara Lobregat due to a direct root or lineage of spanish ancestry. It is much polite due to the usage "tu" to address the second person. Like "Quosa 'tu' nombre"-what is your name. The second form is melted with Visayan words and accent and spoken by Visayans who migrated in. It is characterize by impoliteness due to the usage of "VOS" instead of "TU". The pronunciations are...you know what I mean (e.g. I to e).....Thirdly are what we call " de Alla-alla" in tagalog: taga doon. They talk with singing intonation and they don't usually pronounce the letter 'S'. Like posporo, they pronounce it as 'POH-pro. The structure is much similar to that of the first form. Last form would be the flat; its mixture is indescribable and I think this is what the new gen is very identifiable with. No intonation and influenced by English, Filipino, visaya, chinese, tausug, waray and more. God, I just really don’t where it’s heading to! Thanks guys for the post. Bye for now

El situacion aqui na Manila ay bueno man contra con el situacion alyi na Ciudad de Zamboanga. Ya uwi yo na delicado daw alyi ahora por quasa con el mga rebelde abu sayyaf, manada ya daw tirahan y matahan, mas malo na Basilan. Cuando gaha acaba el crisis alyi. Como un ordinaryo hente del Dyos, ayuda resada lang el nesesita el mga hente militar.

I'll add a slash(/) as a guide for you on how to read and understand the Chavacano Language better. :)

Hola!!! / Como esta?
-> (hello... how are you?)

note: hola or hello may be used as a greeting. The word Como esta means "how are you". You may also say Quetal(ke-tal), it literary means "how are you" or "how are you doing"

Semehante / el lenguahe Chavacano / y lenguahe Mexicano
-> (The Chavacano language is similar to Mexican)

note: Semehante means "similar/the same/equal" The word "el" is "The" in chavacano... let's say you wanna say THE BOY... you would say it in chavacano as "el hombre" Another thing, the y(iy)... it is like "and" in english.. example... you wanna say "the boy and the girl"... you may say it as "el hombre y mujer"

Mas Semehante / el lenguahe Chavacano / na lenguahe Mexicano / contra con el lenguahe Spañol.
-> (The Chavancano language is more similar to mexican compared to Spanish)

note: If you'd noticed that the word "mas" is added with semehante... which means "more similar" while the word "contra con" is fairly used to compare something. Example... "Mark is better than Tom" you'd say it as "Mas bueno si Mark contra con Tom"

Yo / alegre sabe / cay / interesado tu sabe / pa qui modo conversa / un lenguahe unico.
-> (I'm glad to know that you've been interested about to learn how to speak a unique language)

note: "Yo" means me. "alegre sabe" means "happy to know". "cay" literary means "because". "interesado tu sabe" means "you are interested to know/learn". "pa qui modo" plainly means "how"...

take note that "yo/con migo" is the first person.. while "tu/con tigo" is the second person and "sila/canila" is referred to as the third person. "canatun" means "us"

examples....
note: "dale" means "give"
I will give you a gift
- dale yo / con tigo / un regalo

I will give them a gift
- dale yo / canila / un regalo

You will give me a gift
- dale tu / con migo / un regalo

They will give me a gift
- dale sila / con migo / un regalo

They will give you a gift

quando ta studya pa tu biologia na Ateneo, siguro pirmi gad tu ta estudya si ta bolbe ya na casa. Aqui gane na La Salle, el mga hente aqui tan dipisil na biologia, mga amigo y amiga di miyo y ta saca con ese curso mga irregular estudyante ya, por quasa dipisil.

Bueno man cay tiene tu titolo de un Atenista y un estudyante de UP. Hinde yo ta estudya na Universidad La Salle main(DLSU-Manila), alya yo na Angelo King Internacional Center(AKIC) de DLSU-Colegio de San Benildo(CSB). Ese el scuela de hotel y restorante del Sistema La Salle. So yo un BENILDEAN y un miembro del Communidad La Salle.

Nuay problema se na cheering... man problema lang tu se si el Ateneo y UP el taman contrahan, since ta estudya tu ahora na UP, siguro UP. Alegre tambien yo cay ya gana el Benilde Blazers contra Letran na NCAA huwego uno de Benildo. Sabe ya man tu cay yan champion el Colegio de San Benildo na NCAA este pasaw anyo, ahora ta depensa sila el titolo de un champion, amo se ta ase mas dipisil para con el mga Blazers. Sana man champion olet el Blazers na NCAA.

Contralyo gale ta dos ahora tambien na UAAP... por quasa yo ta bota na Universidad La Salle para man 4-peat champion. hehehe. Mas quin ansina... amigo syempre ta dos. :)

El vida de un Benildean y un LaSallian bueno man... manada lang gad este mga mal pensamiento del otro con el scuela La Salle y Benildo. Sabe ya man caha tu el mga imahe del mga otro con el La Salle. Unu pa... el muy bien popular scuela taman contrahan... el La Salle y Ateneo. Este dos scuela y taman contrahan pasaw manada anyo pa... hasta ahora hinde pa ta acaba. Na Español el palabra chabacano quierre decir de bajo calidad, barato, (o) vulgar.

El lenguage Chavacano de Zamboanga, Cavite o Cotabato hinde puede llama de bajo calidad, barato o vulgar, sino tiene desuyo valor, sonor, y particular clase que nohay na otro lenguage

Chavacano or Chabacano?

In Spanish the word Chabacano means of low quality, cheap or vulgar but the Chavacano language can be anything else but not low quality, cheap, or vulgar.

In Zamboanga, Cavite or Cotabato, the language is spoken both by the high and the mighty with its particular value, melody or sound and quality which no other language has.

No grammar?

That is not true. Chavacano follows certain regulations which can pass for its rules of grammar and these are not mere copies of Spanish. (Let's) take a look:



Ejemplo 1: (Example #1)
Chavacano:
English:

Presente: (Present)
Yo ta aprende Chavacano.
I am learning Chavacano.

Pasado: (Past)
Yo ya aprende Chavacano.
I have learned Chavacano.

Futuro: (Future)
El aprende yo Chavacano.
I will learn Chavacano.


Ejemplo 2: (Example #2)



Presente: (Present)
Ta le yo Chavacano.
I am reading (or: read) Chavacano.

Pasado: (Past)
Ya le yo Chavacano
I have read (or past tense: read) Chavacano.

Futuro: (Future)
El le yo Chavacano.
I will read Chavacano.




El regulacion:

1. Usa “ta” con el presente forma del verbo na tiempo presente para indica el tiempo presente.

2. Usa “ya” con el presente forma del verbona tiempo presente para indica el tiempo pasado.

3. Usa “el” en frente del verbo na tiempo presente para indica el futuro.

Observa el dos grupo de ejemplo arriba.

Good News: Chavacano has only simple present, past and future tense, no perfect or past perfect, or future perfect tenses, as in Spanish or English.

Chavacano verbs are not conjugated. There (are) only the present, third, and singular form of the verbs for all tenses. The expressions “Ta” for present, “Ya” for past, (and) “El” for future are all that is needed. “Pa” indicates “on going,” as in Ta come pa yo (I am still eating). Ta descansa pa yo (I am still resting).

Gender is not emphasized. The pronoun “el” can mean he, she, or it. Similarly, all nouns are expressed in the masculine form as in: El Mujer, El Madre, El Hermana, (y) El Nana (The Woman, The Nun, The Sister, and The Mother).

The Chavacano article “EL”
In Chavacano gender does not seem to have a prominent role. One can say el hombre or el mujer without committing any mistake. But the article always goes with the noun. “El” becomes “un” or “a” in English to denote indefiniteness as un maestro or un maestra – a male teacher or a female teacher.




NUMBER IN CHAVACANO
In Spanish “el” would become “los” or “las” to indicate masculine plural or feminine plural, as los solteros y las solteras. In Chavacano, “el” is retained and added to the native dialect “maga” to form the plural in masculine or feminine gender as in el maga soltero o el maga soltera. In general, Chavacano adopts all Spanish nouns, pronouns and numbers, the days and months of the calendar – using “el” before every noun whether masculine or feminine.

Nuway se problema!!! bien bunito estudya Español por que es mas apprecia tu con el Chavacano. Yo ya estudia Nipongo como el mio lenguahe de estrangero pero ya estudia tambien yo Español....Si estudia tu Español nunca tu man dipicil por que es bien pronto deriva el lenguahe Español staba en chavacano. Ahora que na scuela de graduao ya yo, ta plaña tambien yo estudia aleman/french. No quiere tu estudia Mandarin por que los menos tiene ya tu saber modo del High School na Chong Hua y hinde mas tu man dipicil? Pero si pensa segunda ves, mas bueno estudia otro lenguahe para mas redondiao tu pensamiento na lenguahe. Ta acorda yo modo ne elementaria y na high school pa yo. Di mio Lolo quiere con migo manda estudia na Chong Hua o na St. Joseph para los menos sabe yo conversa Mandarin o Cantonese. Ele tambien ta conversa con migo na mandarin tiene ves cantonese pero nunca yo con ele responde na su lenguahe por que es nu quiere yo. So, ya engranda yo nu sabe conversa su lenguahe. Un ves quel, ya habla le cun migo si hinde daw yo ta apprecia el sangre chino....nuway lang yo con ele contesta.
Modo quel tiempo, mas queire yo apprende Tausug compara su leguahe. Ahora tan "SISI" yo cay si tiene yo amigo y amiga hunto con migo y tan conversahan na lenguahe de chino....Selencio lang yo.... Sige, hasta qui ya lang anay yo... hasta lluego...

Tiene ste hable.... si sabe tu conversa chino, puede to communica con el 1/4 del mundo. Si sabe tu lenguahe spañol, puede tu y communica con el medya del mundo. Si bueno tu man ingles mas bueno cay puede to communica con el entero mundo.

Yo sabe conversa sa conversational fookian chino, no sabe yo conversa chino mandarin. Miyo lolo bien sabe gad conversa el lenguahe mandarin, por quasa staba le lya. Y sabe tambien ele conversa el lenguahe tausug por quasa ya esta le na Basilan mga quanto años... des pues y ya imigra le na cuidad de Zamboanga para permanente estada.

Egual lang se tambien aqui na manila, si ta conversa yo chino con el miyo mga amigo y amiga y sabe conversa chino, el mga hente y no sabe conversa ta esta queto yalang. Specialmente si ta conversa yo el lenguahe chavacano na scuela... el mga manilueño ta esta queto tambien... pero ta habla sila con migo cay quere quere daw sila uwi el lenguahe.

You mean to say you’re from AdZU!!! What course? And what???... The subject "Cultura de Zamboanga" was abolished!!! God! What have they done!!! Well to tell you, when I had my undergrad, I had this subject called "Cultura de Zamboanga". ‘Twas actually a history class and if my memory serves right. It was taught by Former College Dean Lledo, who I would say a certified true mestiza chavacana with castellana ancestry and whose passion for Zamboanga's History and language is unimaginably deeply rooted and incomparable. Under her class, we studied Zamboanga’s History as well as the Chavacano language itself…I must tell you that it was really fun and I admittedly say that it was one of my favorito. Unfortunately, She is not with the AdZU anymore. We’re the last batch daw! During the centennial celebration, the National Centennial Celebration Committee chose her to be consultant for the Zamboanga and Mindanao history. Tell you, she is an authority in the mentioned field. Status Quo with regards with chavacano in ADZU; I really don’t know and can’t tell.

Ansina ba?... :) Bueno man... nuay yo mas sabe y nuay qien ya imporma con migo cay ADZU ya el llyamada staba ADEZ. Pero aqui na Manila el mga discriminacion del mga escuela y bien mapuersa. Na Cuidad de Zamboanga, tiene tambien... el popular contrahan... Chong Hua contra St. Joseph, este dos escuela taman contrahan na academio chino y ingles, entrao ya tambien el discriminacion, pero bueno man cay hinde ya se uso na Zamboanga.

Came tambien aqui na Sistema La Salle, tiena pa siempre maga otro personales ta discrimina, este ahora y tan struggle pa el Colegio de San Benildo y dale mira y cambia con el imahe, siguro sabe ya tu el imahe de Colegio San Benildo.

Dude, I recommend going to places like Park 88, Ground Zero, Cafe Sacco if you wanna hang around the block there. Zamboanga can be pretty boring if you don't know where to go... Enjoy your stay there, just got back from ZC and it was pretty emotional for me, seeing my old friends and high school classmates, old crushes and girlfriends, my hangout still intact.. *sigh* so next year again.

Oh, pati sa mga taga-Zamboanga, iboto po natin si Armarie sa Philippine Idol. Alam ko kajologan ito, pero wala ako pake.. Kababayan muna bago ang sarili. Manok natin yan! :D

Yep, Zamboanga is progressing but I doubt a SM mall will open up since the local Chinese Businessmen there(shoppers central, plaza etc) are always blocking entry for those potential "rivals". ayaw nila na may kacompetensiya kaya yun, kahit un Galaxy Mall dati hindi natuloy dahil sa kanila. Kaugalian kasi yan ng mga Zamboangueno eh, mga seloso :lol:
