View Full Version : What's your favorite NCR business (aka gimik) district?

So it seems that every NCR city has a banner business/gimik district.

Hmmm.....listing them down

QC - Libis, Timog/Morato
San Juan - Greenhills
Makati - Ayala Center, Rockwell Center
Manila - Malate, Roxas Blvd (Baywalk).
Paranaque - Diosdado Macapagal Ave???
Taguig - The Fort
Pasig - Ortigas
San Juan - Green Hills

Anyway, I'm from QC so I have slight preference on those areas that are near my place.

My preference (In specific order).
1. Ortigas - it has Robinson's, Megamall, Shangri La, Podium. Greenhills is just around the corner, not to mention that employment is very accessible. Also, Eastwood is not that far away. This one takes the cake.

2. Ayala Center - way farther that Ortigas. This one needs no explanation. It's THE Philippines' business center.

Least preferred:

1. The Fort - this one is the least accessible among all the other areas I've mentioned. Why? This is the business district that has Forbes Park as your point of entry. It's probably one of my few gripes because I don't have a car. But then, even if I have, this area's location reeks of impracticality

One thing I realized is that in order for a business district to succeed, it needs to be accessible to the public. I think Makati and Ortrigas owe their success to Edsa. Eastwood used to be a elitist destination but then it realized that it can't survive in this ideology and years later it became more accessible to masses. Sure, it made Eastwood more "jologized" (if there's such a word. Personally, I want it to remain jologs free), but at least it's now thriving. Public transportation can access the area even if you're entering a private subdivision (is it White Plains)?

Makati, of course.

I used to live in Makati (close to CBD and the Fort). Everything then was very accessible. I just walked from where I lived to my office along Paseo de Roxas. I always think that Makati has this exciting and festive atmosphere, and it's always pleasant to walk around. It has the best skyline and people there look beautiful and smart.

I am never fond of Greenhills and, I think, will never be. I always wonder why people like to go there. I prefer Cubao to that uninteresting place.

Guile, I believe, Megamall and Shangri-La are in Mandaluyong.

^ i'm not fond of Greenhills either, except when scouting for cheap mobile phones, well, that was before. :D
i think one thing why young people go to Greenhills is to watch this parade of sports cars owned by group of people who gather together at night and i don't know what they're doing next. just one time our family had dinner there, we chanced upon these guys and their flashy sports cars parked next to each other and people were checking them (the cars) out.

back to the topic:
i'm really not into gimik like the usual bars/late-night-outs... just malling, coffee-ing, and window shopping, so i most prefer to stroll around Ortigas Center area. :)

Makati takes my vote as well.

Next would be the Ortigas area.

Followed closely by Malate.

What's good in Greenhills except tiangge shopping?

^^ greenhills has the multi-level marketing/business offices :D

i will go for makati both for work and pleasure. pag andito ka kasi sa makati parang nasa neighborhood ka lang.. after work parang isang hakbang lang palabas ng office andun ka na sa bahay nyo.

and i am looking forward for more developments in araneta center.

im from mandaluyong so my usual hangouts are podium (which is in ortigas, but is also near) and shangrila. i used to go to megamall before kaya lang its too crowded na.

aside from these, i enjoy ayala center (6750, glorietta, gb..) since its not so far from mandaluyong and i work out at intercon.

ortigas is also accessible since katabi lang din ng mandaluyong, as well as greenhills.

eastwood lang ang di ko madalas mapuntahan since its the farthest. anyhow, i can say living in mandaluyong, you get to experience the best of both worlds (ortigas and ayala)..

Ortigas area for me, particularly at Metrowalk. Buy stuff in their tiangge, dinner at their restos then party at Aruba.

I used to like it in Makati kaso sobrang strict ng no smoking ordinances nila eh.

Greenhills has been redeveloped extensively with the Promenade as the centerpiece. It's a good place to chill - buy something from Fully Booked and browse through it at the many coffee shops. You can also shop at the tiangge. Parking is quite easy and there are a lot of restaurant establishments that cater to all tastes. Finally, the movie theaters are really nice (cold and you can lift up the armrests). :D

Wala lang, I had to defend my old neighborhood. But I hang out equally in Ortigas, The Fort, Eastwood, Greenhills, Gateway and Ayala.

Eastwood- good: not crowded, very near my place; bad: few choices.

Makati- good: institutional gimmik place, plenty of choices, ageless; bad: far from me, hirap mag park, dami one way.

Fort- good: very hip, dali mag park, sophisticated; bad: isolated, elite, few choices.

Malate: good: if your gay; bad: if you're straight.

Greenhills- good: quick gimmik, tsinelas is very much welcome; bad: few choices.

Timog- good: plenty television stars; bad: most likely ma carjack ka or ma carnap auto mo.

How mean. Sana kaya mong patunayan na WALANG MAGANDA KAHIT ISA SA THIRD WORLD COUNTRY KATULAD NG PILIPINAS kasi kung wala talagang maganda sa isang third world country like philippines sana hindi nag papabalik balik ang ilang hollywood stars sa Aman Pulo, ang ilang foreigner sa mga beaches sa visayas region, northern luzon and palawan. Pero sabi mo nga walang maganda sa third world country like philippines kaya siguro sila nag papabalik balik dito twing summer.

On Topic... The Fort will always be the best place for me next is Makati. Andami kasing selections from restaurant to bars and clubs.

How mean. And you call yourself Filipino...maybe you don't get to see places like The Fort, Greenbelt and Libis, maybe you're always at your house...where all you see is your dirty bed. *peace*

On topic: I like Bonifacio High Street and Serendra...offers anything from shopping to restos and clubs. *okay*

ako, for someone who goes out late mga 11pm hanggang umaga na...
