Hi guys, just last week I overheard a couple of girls talking about epilators in the CR and it got me interested. Where could you buy this product here in the Philippines? How does it work? Is it painful? How long does it last?
And most of all... how much?

Hi, ive been looking for epilators here too, works better than shaving no doubt and easier than waxing. But I don't think they have it here yet, the best ones daw are from Braun.
My mom used to have an Epilady from the 90's, she bought it a long time ago in Rustans, I tried looking but they dont have epilators anymore. They have a small epilator from the Venta 5 infomercial its part of the 5 pc "chic essentials". Sells for about 1,500. Im having second thoughts on purchasing it though, di kasi mukhang matibay. Has anyone here ever tried it?

Venta 5? Parang TV shopping ba iyon? Can you give me their number? I checked the internet and epilators cost at least P2000. That one is quite cheap...
I saw this epilator-looking device from Watsons, but the label on it says "Lady Shaver". God knows what the heck that device is, it looks like an epilator but it says shaver. Hmppf. Baka imitation product. I'll inquire if it's really an epilator.

yup, their no is 555-2525. The epilator is part of the " chic essentials" set. hahahha, pinanood ko talaga noh. The host was commenting on it and trying it out on air, parang masakit daw sha gamitin cos it pulls the hair from the root, pero safe naman daw. On the plus side though, the hair grows back finer and alot less noticable. The epilator looks quite tiny though, parang electric toothbrush pero for the legs daw. Kaya siguro mura.
The lady shaver at watson's is much like the wet/dry electric shavers for men. My friend bought one of those shaver thingies from Revlon and she was quite dissapointed with the results, a sharp 3 or 4 blade razor works better parin.

Update: Masakit. Just like waxing, except everything is being pulled slower. I didn't know how to use it the first time, but I figured it works the best when it's perpendicular to your skin. I still have irritations from doing it last night :\ Hopefully it will go away today.

mike_s_6, how much is this Emjoi Gently Gold Caress?
tsaka how does epilators work ba? kasi i've been doing waxing sa underarms, but sadly, hindi sa legs because the process takes too long. i reason, if the pain is just like sa waxing, then i think it's bearable and much much better than shaving.

to the admin: sorry, triple post. browser problem.

Make that browser + server problem. Slow servers = multiple posts. They never work on it :P
P3000. The Emjoi Gold Caress epilator has 36 tweezers on the head, and it's got vibrating stuff at the sides to apparently make it less painful. The fun part is when you clean the head and see how much was pulled out. There's another variant of the Gold Caress that is wireless and has rechargeable batteries, but I think, is more expensive.
There's also a cheaper Emjoi model, the Emjoi Classic Epilator that goes for P1700, but has lesser tweezer heads. Probably 18 tweezers only.
How does it work? It has a couple of tweezers on a revolving head. Think of a lawn mower with tweezers on it. You use it pretty much like you do a razor, except you move it across your skin slower. And it hurts, haha. But if you wax, I think you could tolerate it ;)

ah, ok. i get it. but will hair growth also be similar to hair growth when you wax (2-3 weeks)?
hmm. i think i'm gonna explore this possibility.

It says up to 6 weeks... I'll see how long it takes before the hair grows back on mine ;)

My boyfriend told me he found the Braun epilator for $50 at Duty Free. Don't know which model that is.

i got my Braun epilator in duty free for $50 a month ago. i've been meaning to buy this product for a year now because a friend recommended it to me. she's been using it for over 2 years now and she's very satisfied with it. satisfied din ako sa epilator. it's not as painful as waxing because there are rollers on the sides that massage your skin at the same time that the hairs are being plucked.

Last I checked, they don't have one at Watsons. I've looked everywhere, I found them only at Rustan's in Shangri-La and in Duty Free. I'm not familiar with Marionnaud because I've only been in Mall of Asia twice XD

im also interested in epilators. magastos pag wax and my underarm gets irritated pag shinave. medyo sensitiive underarms ko..nagkakachicken skin ba kayo using epilator?

^ Not that I could help, I already have chicken skin from I don't know which method I used before. If it vanishes, I'll tell you. But it's pretty hard to use the epilator on your underarms. First, your underarm has a weird contour. Second, skin has to be pulled tight to use the epilator. So I guess you have to reach your back with your elbow pointing upwards to use it.
Update -
There are some hairs that didn't get pulled by the root. They probably broke off, just like sometimes when you pluck your eyebows using tweezers. But it's been a week, hasn't it? And trust me, when I used it again this morning, I only pulled out a few. It hardly hurt as bad when I first used it.
Actually, I'm sure that I could still wear a skirt today even if I haven't used the product again because the hairs that I saw were very fine. I'm just OC. Haha.
So, my rating? Still tons better than waxing (messy) and shaving (grows back very fast), but obviously not as good as laser hair removal... (expensive!) ;)

Some people online, probably in the States, said that Braun is cheaper than Emjoi. But the cheapest one form Emjoi that I saw is only P1700 ;)
