your basic will be slightly higher if you have call center experience. the good thing is that there's a retention bonus which you will receive on your 120th day and upon regularization, your basic will go up to ***.

Hey guys, read this online journal from someone who , as I take it, was a former Cebu trainer:

Again, I am in between jobs. PeopleSupport was great. Keyword “was”. My manager Christine Donovan (an American) was incredible. Not like any American manager I ever worked for. She left the company in June and the company went down hill. I should have predicted. She started the Philippine location of the company. She was a great motivator. I learned a lot and was very successful in being a trainer. I worked hard and long hours, practically living at my job. I don’t consider myself as just a teacher, instructor, or trainer anymore. I am a motivator. I streamlined the courses that I taught, created real-life scenarios and did lots of role-playing to prepare the trainees. I used my technical experience to help. After my shift, I supported the call agents in everyway. I answered their questions and concerns whether personal or professional. I convinced many from quitting when the stress got to them. Turnover is very high in this industry. I motivated them not to transfer. I taught one of the most successful batches. Since I left, the batches have been failing. Unfortunately, I was not appreciated. After I left, one of the people I trained said that there is now a “mass resignation”. I guess many of my trainees appreciated me. Now PeopleSupport is so desperate for good employees that they are calling back employees that they fired for minor reasons. Hahaha

i think the guy was fired because of "work issues" ... companies do go through a lot of changes. there will be attritions and re-hires -- but it doesn't mean that a company is going downhill -- it means that not all are cut to work in this industry, and not all can survive the environment we have.

Cookiepao, just purchase pocketbooks on proper English grammar, English speaking and writing skills[so that you can work on e-mail accounts]. Why not research the internet on how call center agents are trained. You may want to join various call center forums where the top honchos normally congregate. Additionally, you may want to look for sites where call center agents of certain big companies congregate. Lastly, you may want to look for customer review sites of these companies so that you can know if the account/campaign/company sucks or scams their clients. I did all those, though I have a deep customer support background.

Those call center academies are just a waste of time if you have excellent self-study and internet searching habits.

i didn't take the stocks 101 course pero i reviewed my stock option packet. i guess the increments you are referring to is the vesting. you cannot exercise all 200 shares outright. ang pagkakaaintindi ko, pag one year ka na sa company you are already vested 50 stock options. the whole 200 shares are actually spread out for four years. kung wala ka pang 4 years sa company pwede mo lang ma-purchase is 200 x (1/48 or 0.0208333) x number of months with the company. i already emailed HR about this and they are already preparing the papers for me. o ha?

about the selling of shares, i think we are not allowed yet to sell kasi nga may lock out period pang sinasabi. ewan. basta. bahala na.

Yeah, something like that. We gave away 30 PCs that day. Eventually it will be upped to a hundred. Natawa ako sa speech ni da bong. Sabi niya, ...and these 30 PCs are not old. Kaya lang yung 30 na yon e puro Vectra. Mga first-generation PCs, kasabay nung mga malalaking Deskpro at mga clone PCs :glee:. Right now inu-upgrade yung mga PCs ng non-ops people kaya malamang yung natitirang 70 e manggaling sa mga papalitan. Puro P4 yung mga dumating na bagong PCs. So far, napalitan na ang PCs ng non-ops ng Philam, like IT, HR, Finance, Workforce, Admin, and Training. Sino kaya ang susunod na papalaring magkaroon ng bagong PCs?

I'm wondering if I could get a job there as a trainer. Let me give you a little background of what I've been doing for the past years.

I've been working as a linguistics instructor (English & Spanish) at an exclusive private school for 2-3 years. Prior to that, I've had a 1 year stint as an agent for a top call center in Makati. Currently, I'm a ranking officer with Toastmasters International, where I give lectures and speeches in different corporate clubs.

Aside from English and Tagalog, I speak two other European Languages (Spanish and Italian). I have a science education background in UP Diliman, and a neutral US accent. Do you think I have a shot at being a trainer in your company? I'm thinking of working again in the call center as a trainer, coz my plans for US graduate school are still shelved.

i sincerely respect your opinion friend but no offense meant coz im actually not sure in which part you're actually agreeing with me...im fully aware that he's one of the pioneer employees of the company and he somehow proven himself pretty well in PS..no argument on that...

Management people were in too much of a hurry to implement the policies. They didn't give IT enough time to thoroughly study the policies and their possible impact to Ops. As it is, several accounts have had varying degrees of impact in their work because of these new policies. Some were so severe that Tim had no choice but to ask IT to restore the previous policies. Tim should have consulted his PDs and managers first before asking IT to roll out the new policies. The policies should be fine-tuned first then tested in a controlled production environment before being rolled out to the Ops floor. :hopeless:

Sabi sa email ni Tim, next week pa daw dapat effective yong "no cellphone" policy. Pero sa JG ginagawa na. We transferred sa JG last fri, pinaiwan sa guard yong cell. Syempre we didn't expect that. Nakakainis pa yong guard on duty non, i know he is just doing his job, pero angas sya eh....Yong U drive, nabubuksan sya, but not the files in it...I'm sure he has valid reasons for those new policies, at malamang may nangyari or nahuli that prodded him to implement the policies. Ganyan naman sya, nanggagalaiti pag may nangyayari. Pero hindi pa rin tama that these are implemented immediately.

with regard to the U drive issue, i think its really unfair to take it out. san kaya tayo magse-save ng important office docs like tallies, etc? yeah, may kanya-kanyang tallies sa J and P drives, pero iba pa rin *** may sarili ka para nata-track mo *** mga ginagawa mo, what if may babalikan ka na importante di ba? moreover, if they want to take the U drives out, sana man lang, bigyan nila ang reps ng time na i-save sa disc *** mga personal files nila like photos, etc.
i know bawal yun, pero for this purpose, sana pwedeng humingi ng permission sa IT na i-save *** files to discs. kung di pwede na tayo mismo mag-save, pwede bang ipakiusap sa IT peeps na sila na lang mag-save? at least mamo-monitor nila kung anong klaseng files *** ise-save. pwede nila i-flag o i-deny *** request kung may confidential office docs na kasama dun sa files na ipaparetrieve and ipapa-save...

in fairness to IT, di naman talaga sila dapat i-blame. sumusunod lang din sila sa directive ng management eh.

I'm wondering if I could get a job there as a trainer. Let me give you a little background of what I've been doing for the past years.

I've been working as a linguistics instructor (English & Spanish) at an exclusive private school for 2-3 years. Prior to that, I've had a 1 year stint as an agent for a top call center in Makati. Currently, I'm a ranking officer with Toastmasters International, where I give lectures and speeches in different corporate clubs.

Aside from English and Tagalog, I speak two other European Languages (Spanish and Italian). I have a science education background in UP Diliman, and a neutral US accent. Do you think I have a shot at being a trainer in your company? I'm thinking of working again in the call center as a trainer, coz my plans for US graduate school are still shelved.

Please enlighten me regarding this matter. Thanks.

There are 2 positions available for Accent and Communications Trainer for PS. I guess you are qualified for the position considering those experiences you have mentioned. Although, they also require a Masters Degree in English as 2nd language, but I think, you can outwit your way to that job. :) I was also planning to get the same training position, but I lack the qualifications. I don't have experience in Teaching and I don't have a Master's degree, I was planning to get back to school just for the masters so Id be able to apply for this position. ;) There's just this itch to correct those bad pronunciations and slight communication problems I hear from some reps while taking calls. Makes me wonder, how they got it in the first place since HR was so damn strict about fluency, grammar, and pronunciation.

as far as I'm concerned regarding these new policies, I can live with them naman. maybe masyado lang akong "masunurin", hehe pero these policies are no big deal for me as far as my personal and work matters are concerned.

with regards to the U: drive, ok lang sa akin na nawala na access nun. I have had a hard time na maaccess ang U: drive ko even before that, hehe

pero I agree na dapat pinag-aralan muna bago i-rollout ang mga policies na to, para naiwasan sana ang nangyayaring gulo. ngayon sa pc ko, wala na akong makitang icons sa desktop. maski "add printer" option sa controls wala na. :(

at sa nagtanong, yup the VoIP team is in the 31st floor. I should know :)
