Hey there! I'm from Manila as well but last summer, I went to Europe and I really liked it! My favorite city there is Vienna!

I noticed na in all the cities I went to, talagang meron mga Filipinos. We tored Europe via the Eurail and kahit sa trains, may Filipinos din so kahit na papano we weren't that home sick!

--i don't think that they're rude... it's just the impression you'll get... 'coz they have this weird manner of speaking! :lol: they're not expressive and very cold!

they're not like the americans nor asians... always with a smile on their faces! :D

i guess it's the culture... you just have to get used to it... :)

--frankly speaking, i don't think so! they ain't racists dear... oh, the french i mean! haven't experienced any sort of harassment in my 5 year stay here! :angel:

don't know about the italians though!

unfortunately, it's true that almost 85% of the pinoys here in paris are domestic helpers... sad but true!

are they rude?-i think it depends, I had my experiences na were not so nice pero mern din naman na worth remembering again and again. and i think dun sa pagiging rude, hindi lang french people ang at fault kase kahit na nung sa Spain kami, I have encountered rude people as well.

When I had my first brush with rudeness in Europe, my cousins and I were so stupefied kase we coudn't believe na they could be that blatantly rude. I even thought pa nga na since they were the Westernized people and all, they should have been the well-bred ones! Kaya lang, as we proceeded with the trip, not all of them were like that. Some were really nice naman. Kaya I think it depends na lang how you deal with the situation. I say just treat it as a strengthening experience and you'll feel better na.

* I noticed na one thing you have to worry about in Europe eh yung mga gypsy people especially sa Rome and Barcelona. They're really marami in those places and they have very quick hands so if you're not mindful with your stuff, they might get it. That's creepy especially if you're just visiting kase hassle pa if you lose your credit cards and passport. yikes! :(

Denden, i'm taking up Hotel and Catering Management and i finished my two years sa La Salle Benilde and then I went here oct '99. I did my placement period (equivalent ng 3rd year Uni) sa Marriott Hotel and then this Sept. pasok ako sa Uni to finish my final year kaso stop nga ako kase dahil sa fees. Ipon muna ako. Yeah i'm excited to go back sa Pinas! Yipee! :D

I'm here in London initially to study, but now I am tempted to work instead so I can go home to Manila. Miss ko na agad Manila! :smokin: i like it here though, coz london is not like anything i've seen before. kaya lang nakakapanibago dahil walang malls, ang liit ng mga sinehan (late pa ang mga palabas, as opposed to the Phils.) chaka it's expensive to eat in restos. sa manila may 500 pesos ka lang pwede ka nang kumain sa chilis. good chow na yon ah! i'm getting the hang of it and in time i'm sure masasanay rin ako.

first of all thanks denden...3 yrs pa lang naman ako dito. bale 2nd yr college ako sa atin when i came here tapos yun i took GNVQ IT (intermediate) and at the moment advanced w/c is 3 yrs altogether, now i'm planning to take a degree nga, either Information technology (Brighton) or internet computing (this is in SBU) pero i'm not decided yet. kasi naman magiging bagong salta na naman ako sa strange place na ako lang...no family and friends kaya medyo...oooh, ewan. saan ba kayo diyan sa london?

schatz, alam mo i almost visited france last month dahil i've had a free ticket kaso medyo wala sa oras dumating kaya ayun binigay ko na lang dun sa friend ko kaysa naman masayang kasi kagagaling ko lang spain kaya medyo naubos yung finance natin...LOL!!! medyo daw...ala na talaga, hahahha.

Hey Blade! I know exactly what you mean. Yeah..mejo kainis mga cinema sa UK. Mahal pa bayad. Pero at first lang din yan. AKo din before..i can't help but convert from pounds to peso. But when you get used to it..believe me..ayaw mo na tumira sa 'Pinas after niyan. :D I'm not really on the countryside. Pero basta, London is better than our place, I think. Pero i'm here in Manila right now and grabe huh! Gulat ako 'cos taas na din mga bilihin. ANyway..enjoy! I hope to meet all you guys from London some time...

ako naman i left manila after my first year college so we're probably the same age. Anyways, my brother also did what u did (GNVQ Int and AdVanced but he did Science). Ako naman I did A-levels for 2 years and then I took a year off kase diba by law u have to be a resident for three years before u qualify as a home student, so yon. I'm in East London --eastender..hehehe! although we used to live in West London.

I think most of us abroad went through that phase..you know converting everything to peso..hehehe! Ako den the first thing I noticed was the price of cinema tickets...

yes, i´m from germany. i´ve been living here for 15 years.invited rin ba ako sa paris? the last time i was there was 2 years ago. mga barkada ko at mga ina-anak ko ay namasyal sa disneyland paris. 1 day sa disney and 1 day touring the city of paris. we really enjoyed our trip there.we travelled in 2 renault espace vans! 3 kasi ang dala naming mga bata. actually thrice na akong pumunta diyan but i would always love 2 come back. i was in london 2 weekends ago. i stayed at a friends place in south london. that was my 2nd visit there but i would also go back. i was pretty lucky...the plane fare was cheap! so let´s plan of getting together in paris. why don´t you organize it, schatz?

I love Europe for her beautiful scenery (especially in the countryside) and well preserved historical places. The places I like most are Amsterdam, Paris (not the Parisian), Switzerland, Scotland and Venice.

I've been to USA too. I've noticed that Europe is more expensive than USA. I hope to meet any one of you during our future visit again in Europe this coming August 2001.

Just been to Rome for the holidays and I can say that it is such a wonderful country so rich in history. People are also warm and the weather is better from where I am.

Here in Paris, I don't see a lot of Filipinos around like how you find them having picnics. Or maybe I am just not in the right place! I'd like to see more Filipinos around although normally, I can find them in Champs Elysees. But it is a little strange when I do run across some of them. I guess they have integrated well in the Parisian life.

How did all of you faired or are fairing in another country?

hello, am not really a newbie here, i forgot my old password. anyways, am from vienna, austria. and been staying here for almost 6 months now. am attending a language course meanwhile, actually it will be later, afternoon sessions. i moved in with my husband, he's a viennese. vienna is one the coolest and safest cities in the whole world. and i find the people/inhabitants very interesting. lots of cultures and languages mixed up in one place. i intend to work that's why i have to learn the language. and it's really logical one must know how to speak the language. it's funny. i visited lots of places already, not only in vienna. there are more things to austria, than in vienna. at least, wala masyadong japanese tourists!!!! ooopss!!! and i really recommend wiener schnitzel and gulash!!!
well right now, it's starting to get cool, malapit ng mag-autumn. am really anticipating the winter!!!!

I say go for Vienna. vienna, or say, the austrians don't mind where you come from... it's funny to see the mixture of people there. once, i encountered lots of southeast asians, who for a while, i thought were filipinas... the americans meanwhile are not foreigner-friendly, or sa may bandang probinsya. i have the impression that austrians know where the philippines is located and the life there than the americans who are living in the southern part. and most of all, the americans are the "genius" behind those hate sites against other races!

Hello! I'm not in Europe but my sis and I had the chance to tour there last year. Medyo weird nga lang coz we were part of a tour group (Globus), maybe you've seen Globus coaches around Paris..hehehe. I totally fell in-love with Europe. I got kinda bored in Germany (Koln, Heidelberg) though coz the weather was blistering cold, and to think we were there in August! I was fascinated with the structures in Brussels, sobrang magnificent, and the food, grabe ang daming pagpipilian.

Pero my favorite city hand down would be Rome. Actually I enjoyed myself the most in Italy. Shempre first reason is the men :redlips: ..hehehe next would be the weather, then the scenery, food, culture, fashion...the list goes on:D We spent a night in Assisi..what can I say? ang ganda ng view from where we were. Venice was fabulous, we went on a gondola ride kaya lang tanghali kaya sobrang init.


Paris is unforgettable as well, dami kasing smokers! :smoke:...sobrang convenient ng Metro, all you need is a map. Nagpunta kami sa Cligancourt flea market, I think there are several but I can't remember san yung napuntahan namin. Versailles was magnificent :up:

I don't know really a lot of Filipinos, but I have one Filipina classmate in the language course am attending right now! I visited Schönbrunn and of course Stephanplatz, been there many times. Lots of cool caffehouses there. My husband, of course, knows a lot of those places. That's his ultimate breeding place when he was growing up. Cityboy! Even hanging out with the lowlifes... tsk, tsk... am kinda anticipating my first winter! now, it's officially Autumn.

I think you would see a lot of Filipinos there, when I was there ang dami kong nakikita- especially sa U-bahn. And if by chance you would meet Filipinos who are members of Couples for Christ expect for a very warm reception. You would instantly gain a lot of friends. I don't know really a lot of Filipinos, but I have one Filipina classmate in the language course am attending right now! I visited Schönbrunn and of course Stephanplatz, been there many times. Lots of cool caffehouses there. My husband, of course, knows a lot of those places. That's his ultimate breeding place when he was growing up. Cityboy! Even hanging out with the lowlifes... tsk, tsk... am kinda anticipating my first winter! now, it's officially Autumn.

Spent 3 years in London (West London - East Acton to be exact) - spent 1 year in Leeds as well. It was fun. If you guys in the UK now are students, then I recommend getting in touch with the PINOY-UK group there -- they usually have three-four EBs in a year -- first one is the Welcome EB (for those who are incoming students), next is Christmas. Sometimes there is an Easter EB and the Summer EB to celebrate graduation.

salut, schatz! ca va? i´ve been very busy the past months. actually i was in the u.s....nagbakasyon...last april and june....philly, atlantic city, nyc, seattle and vancouver in canada (day tour lang). i had fun ....and now i´m financially broke!!!:(

how´s paris? my friends were back there about a month ago over a weekend, pinasyal ang mga relatives nila. and they had fun. bakasyon uli ako ngayon for 2 weeks. i´m planning to fly to london. bahala na! i´ll be spontanous uli.

Yap maraming pinoy dito sa UK, there's Phil-Anglo community and may Phil. Festival every summer (depends kung saang area sa UK ka titira). Brits are fine, they're reserve but very polite (depende din sa area na titirhan mo), pero as long magaling kang makisama you'll survive.

I live here for 15 years na and I work in Engineering Consultant company, they do feel threaten (coz mas masipag tayo and we're more clever than them, pero they wont admit that) but i survive all the trials and tribulation sa office and i am still employed there. Sa classroom, okey lang kung pakita mo ang capability mo, maiinggit sila pero they will admire you or ignore you (just be on your guard but dont show it).

I cant tell story about Phil community kasi nga lagi ako sa work and with 2 kids and husband, yung weekend ko wala ng time makipag sosyalan sa ibang pinoy/pinay. Lahat ng friend ko or kakilala dito puro working kaya lahat busy.

I am not from Europe either but I will be going to the Netherlands this June! :) Well, I've been looking around different sites just to know more about Netherlands and what to do there, and it seems there are not much English sites out there that would have a pletoria of information specially where I am going to, Terneuzen. :eyecrazy: Anyone here familiar with the place?

By the way, it's really nice to know that there are a lot of Filipinos out there!

1)take a GRAND HOLLAND TOUR - an 8 hour tour of the 3 famous cities of holland: AMSTERDAM,ROTTERDAM,HAGUE

may tour guide pa na multi-lingual :lol: kaso di marunong mag tagalog :glee:

2)NIGHTLIFE is awesome (pero sa amsterdam lang kami nag clubbing, ok na rin, daming HOTTIES)

3)dunno if ur a guy or girl, pero if ur a GUY, don't forget to visit the RED LIGHT district :lol: may LIVE SHOWS pa, kaso 50 euros (MAHAL), PWEDE KA mag-WINDOW SHOPPING ng hammer-girls :naughty:

4) ANNE FRANK's house is also in Amsterdam.

5)CANAL tour- romantic if ur with someone special :glee:

6)visit small convinient stores and try to look for the controversial
FILIPINOS cookies.

the grand holland tour costs around 50 Euros. so if u don't have a lot to spend, i suggest u just take this one. 8 hours to see almost all holland has to offer. PRETTY GREAT DEAL.


the Canal Cruise costs 25 euros.

WOOOOOHOOOOOO red light district hehehe, pero kung maliit yung budget mo baka mabitin ka :glee:
