View Full Version : Will Ateneans and Lasallians ever bury the hatchet?

I'm from UP and I've got blockmates from the Ateneo and La Salle Greenhills. So far they haven't staged any act of violence whatsoever. But I could feel the competition in them. So will they ever bury the hatchet and be friends without considering their high school alma mater? I'm speaking in general okay. I'm not necessarily referring to my blockmates.
Hey, I'm a girl from a La Salle high school myself.

coolsurf, I don't see how you can say they're hopeless. Could you expound on what you said?
As for the competition between Ateneo and La Salle, there's really nothing wrong with it as long as its healthy competition. If through this rivalry, both schools are able to produce better students, I don't see why we should worry about it.

the answer is no. lasallians like nan, unified and latteM will just carry on forever wondering whether or not their parent's hard-earned money was well-spent on their education.
sophomoric airheads like lek-lek will get their legal management degrees and maybe take law and end up braying their dumb trade to mental deficients in makati and ortigas.
the philippines will remain a third-world country.

hmmm, seems like someone needs attention here....tsk tsk...
i feel so sorry that several persons are having psycho problems, to the extent that they will do anything just to get other people's attention, and there are a lot of such people here in PEX, even if the thread does't have anything to do with them, they will really see to it that they get into the scene....
poor misguided guys...tsk tsk tsk....they come from universities with good and well-known traditions, but hell, they don't seem to embody the values of their respective educational institutions!!!

hardguy00, I will never wonder about my parent's hard-earned money, because it's La Salle that's spending for my education. Maybe your point is that I'm wasting my time. Maybe so, but at least I'm learning something, though not as much as what you're saying I would've learned in UP.
At least it's not as bad as wasting my time in front of the computer bashing kids, kicking dust in their faces, and showing them how stupid they are, much like some bully stealing candy from a baby. At gunpoint.
That is, if I were a 33 year-old genius like you.
I'm probably not as intelligent as you are, but at least I'm trying to use my measly little brain in more purposeful and constructive ways.

it's nice nga eh. to have a somewhat friendly rivalry. kse it brings out the best in the ateneans and the worst in the lasalites.
pero seriously, what i've noticed... when in high school: lasalites, they are generally "basaguleros" parang mga bata pa. pero they get to have more girls. i dont know why. maybe because yung mga guys eh inaaway nila kaya friends lang ang natira. (well at least they have enough brains to know na nde inaaway ang babae. pero ewan ko lang.) maybe the girls in high school have the same i.q. as the lasalites. conversely, ateneans are more... ummm... (for lack of a better word, "low profile". but when they go to college, the lasalites are still the same way they are when they were in high school. they just have more facial hair. ganun pa ren. nde pa ren nagiisip. and at least meron na ren babae ang mga atenista. kse siguro nabobohan na mashado sa iba. hirap kseng kausap ang nde nagiisip.

i hope that ateneo-lasalle thingy ends na. i'm an atenean and, to be honest, i'm so irritated to this rivalry na parang wala naman talagang matinong dahilan.

what? bury the hatchet? and lose the excitement of uaap season? :D
like uptowngirl said, there's nothing wrong with it, as long as it remains friendly. :D frankly speaking, ateneo-lasalle uaap games are always worth waiting for each uaap season. :D corny naman kung wala yun no.
hard: uhm... did you have a lobotomy sometime in the recent past? :D i think they took out the portion that governs good disposition.

isa lang ang sagot... kapag mature na sila...
take note: age is not a sign of maturity

So you can only give a snicker for an answer old man? I'd rather be a kid than reach a delusional stage like the one you're in.
You could always shove our age in our faces, but can you please at least find the maturity to enlighten these kids who are less informed than you are, instead of insulting them for knowing any less? You may not know it, but kids need to be respected too. However less intelligent they may be.
As for the topic
This Ateneo-La Salle rivalry thing is non-existent in the college level in many ways than one. As far as we're concerned, this rivalry existed only during the NCAA days of Ateneo and DLSU, and the years preceding 1988, wherein Ateneo was a leading contender in the UAAP. But even today these rivalries usually only exist inside the hardcourt.
Of course I haven't taken into account the alumni of both schools and the squabbles of those rich old men!
In the end, the Ateneo-La Salle rivalry becomes a psy-myth; something that we all believe that exists for the sake of believing it exists. Probably, it sticks unto La Sallians and Ateneans as much as the chants of "Animo La Salle" and "One big fight."
For whatever purpose it would serve, and in agreement to blue babe's sentiments, this perceived rivalry sure is a hell a lot of fun anyway.

From what I've witnessed, when these Ateneans and Lasallians eventually meet at work and become part of the same team, they get along famously, work well together, and generally forget the "rivalry". Once in a while there are exchanges of the usual La Salle vs Ateneo jokes, which always end in laughter, not violence.
