View Full Version : Do High End Brands still equal Quality?

With the humongous advertising & marketing costs these worldwide brand names carry, do their goods still retain the quality decades ago?

They give lavish parties, include their products in high profile gift bags, give big discounts (50% or more) to famous (and rich) celebrities.

So what are we mere mortals paying for? Is it really worth it nowadays to carry that LV, Fendi or Dior?

I bought an original Gucci bag a couple of years ago and already the leather at the bottom is chaffing. I don't even use it everyday. My LV pouchette is way older than my gucci but still hasnt shown a bit or wear (syempre yung handles nagdarken na).

So what's your say?

Here in the Philippines, parang hindi na. Kasi it seems that the product managers would rather pass the costs of advertising or any form of publicity (like entertaining socialites, magazine editors, etc) to the hapless consumers. There are still certain high end brands that maintain their standards of quality, so I would say that you get value for your money.

I bought a Gucci black snakeskin bag. Tsktsktsk...n by Gosh...nabakbak ang snakeskin. Kaya from that time on, I only buy monogrmaed Gucci bags.

But LV, quality talaga.

I buy a "bit" expensive clothes but very infrequently and they last me ages.

So expensive "most of the time" equates to quality.

yes if you're using it for its purpose.

all those things expensive oeven the not so expensive ones needs a rest & tender care.

Iba na quality ngayon. Sa Lacoste shirts...obvious ang downgrade ng quality nung dati na made in France pa tapos ngayon asian made nalang. I have some polos na 15 years old na...hindi pa kupas. Unlike yung nabili ko na classic green lacoste 2 years ago...kupas na ngayon. Nakakabwiset kasi yung outsourcing sumasama ang quality.

Some Lacoste shirts are said to be made in China and they jack up the prices because of the name. Of course, they still check the quality but, made in China? Any idea about this?

baka naman nangungupas ang lacoste nyo coz you're not using it for its purpose :p and remember tender care! tender care! u:lol:

from what i know made in thailand ang mga lacoste shirts. well, baka nag-expand na din sila sa china where the labor is much cheaper. but i agree, ang sama ng quality ng lacoste shirts.

some brands were never known for quality anyway... i always thought brands such as the aforementioned Gucci were expensive because of the style and not the quality.

I would like to think that LV products are high quality... in this case form followed function.

I said I wasn't using the Gucci bag that often so I gather it has already has its share of rest & tender care......

kahit gano kaganda quality ng isang bag kung pabaya *** gumagamit, madali din un masisira. pro so far ok ang lv sa kin... i use it every day in skul at maayos pa naman siya. unlike my mango bag na gamit ko din dati everyday kaya lang ***** sira na. ;) siguro kc mas expensive *** lv kaya mas naingatan ko hehe ;)

Are Dooney&Bourke available in Pnas?

They're not as pricey as Louis Vuitton, Prada, Gucci, or Dior but hey they have good quality and stylish purses.
