Hello!
Do you guys have any tips on how to pass the CPA Board exam? I will be taking it this October na kasi, and I STILL don't have any idea on how to mentally prepare myself :( What books should I use? Which topics shoud I focus on? And more importantly, would anyone like to trade review materials? hehehe ;)
Thanks!

-valix toa
-valix prac1
-uberita prac1
-roque audit probs
-ocampo audit probs
prac2
-guerrero advanced 1
-guerrero advanced 2
(again, solution manual sa mga taga cpar)
-usry cost accounting
-guerrero prac2
-dayag prac 2
mas
-handouts ng CPAR a must!
-garrison MA (testbank din ng librong to)
-roque ms reviewer
-agamata ms reviewer
bl
-suarez textbooks, sauluhin multiple choice problems nya sa reviewer
-ReSA handouts a must!
tx
at
-wag na magsaulo. gumagawa raw talaga ng questions yong examiner. focus on concepts. textbook: salosagcol AT + ricchiute (concepts, not questions)
"Out of 1,200+ who passed the May 2006 CPA board exam, 600+ are from CPAR, or an (impressive) 51% passing percentage!"
Huli nyo ang kalokohan? :)

great list, beltrandude!! :)
actually, we were told that this time around, taxation would entail more problem solving and less focus on the concepts. :(
i have the suarez reviewer din for bl, but sabi maraming mali daw un kaya hindi ko muna binubuklat hehehe. stick to soriano muna ako.
thanks guys, for replying!! i've never prayed so hard in my life nga, and to think the board is still months away hehehe :)

Mankiw,
I've taken the CPA exams once in the Philippines and once in the US. Modesty aside, I passed both on the first try.
Aside from the books that the other forumers listed above, I would say that you'll also need self-discipline, the discipline to set aside a certain number of hours each day for your studies. Review and solve the exercises you have been given over and over. "Practice makes perfect" wika nga and the same is true when one is preparing for the CPA examinations.
Nakaka-nerbiyos? Of course pero one way of addressing it is through constant study and practice. It's normal for one to feel some anxiety prior to taking the examinations. However, if you really studied and prepared hard for the examination, such anxiety should fade away a few minutes after you've started the examination. There is one type of "nerbiyos" that doesn't go away and that's the one you feel when you go into the examination room with the knowledge that you did not prepare well for the tests. That's the type of "nerbiyos" or anxiety that you should work on preventing at all cost if you really want to pass the examinations.
I wish you the best of luck.

hi.. im a CPA narin po, 1st take.. last oct. 2005.. nwei, u just have to concentrate, self dicipline, learn how to sacrifice muna *** mga usual na gngawa m and gve studying more tym.. you're not expected to know everything in detail, but u should have a little knowledge about everything kc d m **** lam ang lalabas sa board.. as for me mas ngbasa ako keysa ngcompute, kc madali mgcompute if you know the concepts by heart.. :)

Nung nag take ako (Nov 2004) maraming galing sa RESA handouts yung lumabas.. and puro about sa management accounting and galing sa foreign books yung mga questions.
So the trick is to review hard habang maaga pa. And prayers help a lot, ang daming simbahan dyan malapit sa CPAR.. UST, St. Jude, etc. Good luck! :)

if you did well in your undergard accounting courses, then you don't have to worry that much in your board exam. you only need to practice, practice, and practice!
