Hi everyone. It's been a long time since i posted anything... Im hoping i'd get replies with this one.

I'm an incoming 2nd year law student at San Beda (alabang). With the lack of upperclassmen to assist us (the school being very new), we are sort of left on our own to find pertinent and helpful information like dirt on profs (hehe, just kidding), where to get case digests, sample exams (na sana may sagot, hehehe) etc. So here, trying my best to be d@rn resourceful, i figured why not use the net?:)

Cutting to the chase, the first inquiry of yours truly is, just wanting to ask what books would you best recommend for the following subjects:

1. Property
2. Sales and Lease
3. Negotiable Instruments Law
4. Criminal Procedure
5. Land Titles and Deeds

The recommendation based on what you used, probably as advised by your school and/or professor, or based on how good and helpful you found the book to be (comments on thhe books are greatly appreciated).

I'd appreciate all recommendations, coming from both Bedista's and non-bedista's alike. :) No discrimintation here really, coz in the end you all carry the same ATTY. extension regardless of what school you went to. ;) Schools are a big help, but I'll say still depends on the student him/herself.

It is in high hopes that I await replies on this thread... :)

thanks!!

Ciao!

it really depends on the prof with regard to the best books to use. otherwise, just check first what is available on your library.

thanks for the reply Precious84. :) its just that in school, some of our profs would not recommend what book to use and would just leave us with our own choice from say 4 or 5 authors that they would mention. I'm kind of looking for something sort of "law books review". Like for example when i took up persons and family relations i started out with Paras and had a hard time with it until a good classmate of mine told me that Sta. Maria's had it explained better (he having taken up law previously and had to stop and transfer). And in Oblicon, I chose Tolentino over Jurado but still used Jurado as a reference having been told that the cases in Tolentino are not updated and the more recent jurisprudence is found in Jurado.

Im actually just looking for input coz its a good 3 weeks away till school starts and I wanted to do some advanced reading and don't know which book to hit/borrow for the aforementioned subjects. Until I meet the prof and be told which among to choose from, i'd like to ask help muna from my fellow law students... :)

Hi! I recommend the following authors:
1. Property- De Leon
2. Sales and Lease - De Leon
3. Negotiable Instruments Law - De Leon, he has a good discussion on forgery
4. Criminal Procedure - Agpalo is a good read but he's quite verbose
5. Land Titles and Deeds - Aquino, concise and updated

actually, in general, kung may DE LEON, check it out.

We have dubbed his books "Law for Idiots" hehe, no pun intended ha. Kasi siya na ata pinaka madaling intindihin na author. Pero hindi extensive and discussion nya, so parang for initial reading lang.
