guys, anybody can give an advice on which of the 2 types is better?
leather sofa looks nice & neat, but i find it uncomfortable kc parang ang lamig nya upuan when the temperature is cold. and pagpapawisan nmn ang balat mo when the temperature is hot. tama ba? and pano pag nabutas sha or whatever damage, maa-upholster din ba sha ng leather or fabric na ang replacement nya?

well my choice, kung ok naman ang temp sa house nyo i'll go sa leather sofa kasi iba ang dating very sosy and comfy. nothing against in fabric sofa, it has a wide variety of choice in color/style and i'm sure you will find one to suit your taste.

yun lang!

I'll go for a leather couch. But consider where are you at, if it's cold then it doesn't matter.

Also take pets & kids into consideration.

I would suggest a couch/ sofa that has micro fiber. It's child/ stain friendly.

the couch/sofa would be for a european setting. so kng taglamig nka-heater ang house. kng summer (it could get very hot sometimes) wlang aircon...so, should i still go for the leather in this case?

concern ko nga *** for the leather is pag nadumihan, i found this very nice leather sofa in white pa nmn. if i haven't found this i would have opted for the fabric *****. yun nga ***, the catch w/ the fabric sofa is madali masira.

haayyy, i'm confused! m planning on getting the white leather sofa na, but i'm still having second thoughts.

what abt that micro-fiber kind? i'm not sure exactly what it is. it's nice if it's stain friendly. i'll chk if they would knw it sa furniture shop, but i doubt if they do.

thanks for the input guys!

fabric. I don't like the idea that a living creature died just so I'd have something to sit on

micro fiber is the fabric itself. it has the texture of a suede but it's softer. and can endure children for a long time.

pinkmammal,
About the leather, i don't think we're talking about real leather here (unless the buyer has got loads of cash.) synthetic leather lang naman usually ang sofas dito sa furniture stores.

Annecy,
Yup imitation leather (leatherette) lang naman usually mga sofas. I think it depends more on the foam than the leather itself. Pag mas densely packed yung foam, mas matigas siya upuan.

Like yung old sofa namin, we had it upholstered and requested additional foam be added para tumigas.

There are many types of "synthetic" leather available for furnitures.... the most commonly used, AFAIK, is the Milano Leather and the German Leatherette. Both are of good quality, but I would go for Milano Leather for a classier look.

With regards to level of comfort.... there are ways on how to make your sofa more comfortable when it is covered with leather ... for a more "fluffier" look ... we wrap "fiber fill" around the foam to make it more softer and fluffier .. but still have the durability and support of the foam ...

As for the question whether leather or fabric .... leather is more ideal in our climate. Leather is low in maintenance ... if it got dirty ... you can always wipe it with a wet cloth with some detergent and wipe off the stain. When it gets hot .. sure you will perspire when "slouched" in your leather sofa ... but you can easily wipe off that "pawis" to remove the smell ... unlike with the fabric ... once your "pawis" made contact with the fabric... the smell will likely make "kapit" with the fabric ... and it is hard to keep the fabric clean.

There are various styles that will make your sofa more comfortable and easy to maintain. IMHO, don't buy those from SM Department stores ... they might be cheap ... but they don't last that long ... furthermore... once they got broken .. the cost of the repair is as high as the original cost .....

ADD: We make custom made furniture pieces ... in my experience ..... custom made furniture pieces (such as sofas) lasts longer and its worth your money .... it usually lasts 5-10 years .... and after that ... you can have it repaired .. just replace the foam and fabric .... and voila ... a brand new sofa ....

one more thing ... its the frame of the sofa that makes it last longer ....

just go for leather. it's easier to clean up than a fabric.

but oh girl, oh... sleeping in a fabric sofa is like wow.

i'll go for an italian leather...hindi dumihin...make sure kung bibili ka, yung talagang authentic leather..hindi yung vinyl lang.

leather sofa is not really my type...madulas and never feeling cozy. I prefer fabric. In order to protect it from getting dirty, why not put a nice thick fabric sheet over it, something washable. You can also accessorize it with big pluffy cushions which, again, you can wash the covers when they get dirty.

i have a leather couch. 'di nga masyadong comfortable i got the one with the recliner but it's too high parin. pick one that's lower and with a softer leather. kung malamig bili ka lang ng throw, doubles as a blanket.

Leather is beautiful but if you're in a tropical country like PI. I would rather take a fabric sofa.

How do you clean fabric covered sofas? Yung hindi natatanggal yung covers ha? Do you just wash them down with Joy in the garage, rinse them down and let dry in the sun?
