My opinion: [Walang kokontra ah. These are not bashing remarks.]

I think that the old Ateneo site still stands out than the beta. Oh well, that's only beta and it's not final. And should ADMU webteam decide to keep the beta or the original, it's not the case but what matters is the site can be of use to all Ateneans and all people wanting to see the beauty of Ateneo.

And the point of this post is?

I don't know why, but there's something in the original design that makes me like it better. Navigating is much better and easier in the beta, though.

Ateneo's original site has a resemblant "ambiance" in comparison with US schools, I think. Although it looks plain, when you take a long, hard look at it, you'll suddenly think of "Woah, ADMU's site can be related with some US schools' Webpages.

For me, mas ok yung dating website. Yung ngayon kasing site ng ateneo (the one under beta testing), parang bombarded with too much graphics, text, etc.

For me, the navigation in the previous layout is still easier, compared to the new one.
and yup, the site has the similarity with the homesites of US Universities, wherein simplicity is there, yet the information can easily be accessed and you can immediately see what you are looking for.

I think it's alright. But I really, really love DLSU's website.
But the site is also in sad mode now. The Flash picture says it all :(

Kaya yun.. Pero in general, maganda pareho

Minsan pag walang flash eh wala yung flash movie area or may link na nagsasabi na kumuha ka ng flash.

What's the make of the picture presentation in the new site? It does not seem as Macromedia Flash. Is it one of Ateneo's hidden technologies? :D

To the Ateneo community,

The beta site is currently accessible at www.ateneo.edu/ateneo.

We are conducting performance testing, hence, there might be interruptions and slowing down of access to both the existing site at www.ateneo.edu and the beta site www.ateneo.edu/ateneo.

Thank you for bearing with us on this.

I honestly don't know.

Must be a neat trick of the CMS, using CSS and HTML. Or some neat scripting.

A better layout, good color scheme, and less clutter. This is a refreshing change from the old website. The new edition gives a more scholarly feel. :)

Is it compatible with PC's without JRE? :D

Kasi in our site, walang flash movie if the PC does not have Flash Player 8 :D

Makes me think now that the La Salle and Ateneo site have the same context but different means were done to achieve it :)

I think so. :D As long as the browser supports javascipt.

I hope the web designers will also include a favicon. (minor detail really). :D

The design of the site looks good. :D I noticed though that the page weight (at least of the home or index page) is rather high/heavy (1.5MB). I guess it's ok if the target user has a broadband connection. (not bashing, just giving my observation.)

Good luck and keep up the good work! :D

Is the beta site CSS-made?

Doesn't the web team want to put RSS in it?:D

tama si flsfnoeraekadad, mabagal pa downtime sa beta.

pero tama din si atenean_blooded, beta pa lang.

pero ateneo's site is one of the two better sites kahit sa orig version, the other being the greenies' site.

I prefer the old layout. It's not what people would call wonderful at first glance, but as time passes, you'd really learn to appreciate it. There's something about the layout (esp. the color) that's just soothing. Though I doubt the old layout could be paralleled in the near future, the new layout is just too far from the old one.

One, the choice of font isn't really superb; there are barely good sites these days that use a "tailed" (or whatever) font for content. The sky blue gradient isn't also a good choice (and sky blue in general) because there's something too blinding about it (or maybe that's just me). The font-size on the left menu is also too huge, and all those mouse-over effects are not really that, hmmm... "pleasing".

I hope the old layout would just be retained, until a new layout somehow close to the old one would surface.

But that's just, of course, my opinion. :)

(I liked the right menu though, the one that contains links on giving, art gallery, university at prayer, etc.)

I would like to commend the Ateneo Web Team for a job well done. Their past website was a failure in terms of usability. It took me forever to find information regarding the MS Computer Science course. Now it only takes one click and 3 mouse highlights. I was so confused with the structure of the previous website that I emailed the Web Team back then to express my frustration.
