fyi, anesthesiology is under the banner of medicine coz anesthesiologists are people with a degree in doctor of medicine (like those practicing in internal medicine, surgery, ob-gyn, ophtha, etc). the difference lies in their specialization.

ano'ng school? lahat sila magagaling. nasa estudyante ang pagsisikap. wala sa eskwelahan.

Well she has straight A's, ever since....so no question about that.....my dad graduated Medicine sa UST....i graduated in New York University. gusto nya mag study sa pinas. I was just wondering kung alen pa school other than UST. Dont get me wrong....I know they are all good, but hindi lahat ng schools mataas ang rank sa exam sa ganung specialty.

The question is, where does she intend to practice her profession? If she plans to settle in the US, studying in a Philippine university would be more of a drag. Send her to NYU, Johns Hopkins or UMKC - that's what FAFSA's for.

UMKC has a six year med program and they're very innovative in terms of curriculum, instruction and facilities.

Your daughter has straight A's and US-educated. She must be used to independent study and learning beyond just lectures. I think she will learn more in medical schools which use the innovative PBL method. I've heard of at least one medical school that has a good program, uses PBL and has affiliations with U.S. teaching hospitals for American citizens to do their junior internship there instead of doing it in the Philippines. That way they get early introduction and integration to the American medical system.

Getting into competitive specialties like Anesthesiology is very difficult coming from a non-US school. She is better off getting her medical degree in the States. Philippines should be her last option.
