The 6th INYORAI BIDYO FESTIVAL
This year UP Cinema As Art Movement (UP CAM) launches the 6th INYORAI BIDYO FESTIVAL, an interschool video competition for aspiring student filmmakers. Since its inception, the competition has garnered a reputation for intellectual and artistic excellence. Judges of past competitions have included film notables such as Tikoy Aguiluz (Cinemanila), Raymond Red and Roxlee.
This inter-collegiate event aims to raise the level of independent filmmaking and alternative film and video appreciation by reaching out to students of other tertiary educational institutions. Hence, not only do we create an interscholastic competitive atmosphere, but more importantly, we strengthen the ties between artists and aspiring filmmakers of distinct orientations.
The Festival has no prescribed theme, but is divided into four categories: Feature, Documentary, Animation and Experimental. Four finalists will be chosen per category. The winner of each category will receive P10,000 in cash. Special prizes will also be given to Best Director, Cinematography, Screenplay, Editing and Music.
This year’s Festival will be a four-day affair made to coincide with the College’s Fine Arts Week. The Festival starts with the screening of various student short films, both in and out of competition from February 13 to 15, 2006. The event culminates with the awarding ceremonies on February 17, 2006 at the GATEWAY MALL CINEPLEX Cinema 4.
Mechanics
1. Festival is open to video works made by college students within the period of School Year 2004-2006 (June 2004-January 2006). The video work need not be a class project, just as long as the filmmaker(s) are students. With regard to (thesis) works where filmmakers have already graduated, a certification from the school is required to certify validity of video as a student work. Students currently registered need to submit a copy of their registration forms for SY 2005-2006.
2. CAM members are eligible to join. CAM productions, however, are not eligible to join the competition.
3. Films originally shot on film format, digitized (film transfer) and submitted on VCD/DVD are recognized and accepted as video.
4.The festival has no theme. There are 4 categories: fiction, documentary, animation and experimental.
5. Running time of fiction, animation and experimental entries must not exceed fifteen (15) minutes. Documentary entries must not exceed twenty-five (25) minutes. Entry will be considered for only one (1) category. Indicate under which category you wish the entry to be considered. You may enter more than one (1) category.
6. Entries must be in VCD/DVD format. Only one (1) entry per CD. Please submit copies only. Copies of entries included as finalists will become property of CAM. VCD/DVDs must be labeled with your name/group/organization, school, title and running time.
7. Submit entries with the official entry form. You can download entry forms at inyoraibidyo.tk Entry forms are also available at the UP College Fine Arts.
