Hi Everyone!

Need your advice, especially from PEXers with kids going to grade school in Makati :)

My family and I will move to Makati sometime April this year and our eldest daughter needs to find a grade school to transfer to. She is currently Grade 1 in Miriam College and frankly having a tough time.

We're thinking San Agustin but would welcome less expensive yet still effective alternatives ;)

Please help!

Where exactly in Makati? Try to check Colegio de Santa Rosa near Rockwell.

I would say, Assumption, CSA and the Montessori School in Dasma (or is it forbes?) are your best (and perhaps, ONLY? LOL) options. Then again, those schools are quite expensive. You can also try St. Scho which is not so far away. (again, expensive). But, I think it pays to send your child to schools like these anyway.

Funny you should mention Rockwell... we'll live quite close there. Closer to City Hall actually.

Thanks for the recommendations so far everyone! Any more out there? :)

^Well i guess Sta. Rosa is your best option, not as expensive as the other schools mentioned, but certainly not the least. Malapit pa sa inyo. Wala na problema sa pagsundo-hatid.Accesible din sa public transpor(jeep) Its your call.

i think colegio san agustin is fine. dun ata nag grade school si kris aquino [tama ba?]

i think the price there is right

but if u want a public school that is cheap, then you might consider leaving the makati border a little bit, try sta ana manila area, and choose between ob montessori, st anne academy and st francis school

ob montessori, st anne academy and st francis school

Public schools already? Just looking at the name, and the first thing that
will come to my mind is that they are private schools.

========================================================

Why not public school? Some of the best that I know in college came
from public high school/elementary...

Besides, nasa estudyante naman yan and. With parent's assistance, the
child will excel in school...

Tipid pa sa tuition fee...

Opinyon ko po lamang...

THen why not Pamantasan ng Makati, since u live in Makati, might as well take advantage of subsidize education from the town/city mayor. Its along guadalupe beside the pasig river./

Thanks for the recommendations everyone! My best leads are now Colegio de Santa Rosa and Pamantasan ng Makati.

We really prefer schools closer to home since the commute tends to add to the stress and tension of going to school - so going beyond Makati is possible but unlikely.

And why private schools? I guess its basically because I have the choice or capacity to send my kid to them. Most filipino parents with this same choice will choose private over public schools - mostly because we don't like risks or uncertainty when it comes to our children's education.

grade school...?

colegio san agustin makati. co-ed. has a liberal school trust.

then transfer to either ateneo HS or philippine science HS. that'd be the best.

or stay there for HS. the person will learn a lot of PR skills. downside to that is highschoolers in CSA do not have good study habits. and the curriculum for math sucks. english and filipino curriculum is ok but not the best. THE core values of friendship and search for truth will be instilled to the child...

biased. i came from CSA. ^_^

yep that's true...augustinians excel in english and some in science but generally they're not that "gifted" when it comes to math

flsfnoeraekadad and la_flash that was a typo error, it should be "private" school. besides, i said "school that is cheap", if i was referring to public schools, then it would be redundant since there's no expensive public school. haha. my apologies for the error.

Oo nga, why not the Makati public school system? I'm not sure which school district there is good though.
