being a business traveler, I end up in a lot of hotels. I'm now billeted in City Garden Hong Kong in since I'm with folks who'll stay a month. Previously I was booked in Sheraton.

The swankiest hotel I've been to is Ritz-Carlton, where we stayed in once in Seoul.

The best part of these is I don't spend a cent myself! :D

The Athens Hilton wasn't too bad... :)

And neither was the Shangri-la in Hong Kong. REEEALY NICE.

But my favorite is Jury's Hotel in Cork, Ireland. Nice, decent enough, with the friendliest people I've ever met in a hotel in the world. And that's saying a lot, coz I've been to many.

Stay away from the Princeton Hyatt. Sucks eggs.

I'm not exactly a big hotel-hopper, but I truly enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Avenida Palace in Barcelona.

DOODS, you don't have to go further than the CEBU SHANGRI-LA MACTAN RESORT

White sand beaches, swimming pools beside the seaside.. sunsets.. volleyball courts.. 5 star accomodations.. HUGE hotel, LARGE area.. HECK IT'S an ENTIRE ISLAND!

It's too bad we were only one of the few filipinos there.. most were japanese.. This is our land.. our country.. yet it is being enjoyed by foreigners, and not by us..

oh well.. such is life...

What are you talking about? I've been holed up in this place for half a year already and this place is a dump compared to less expensive hotels! :( And worse, they dont even have a property in the Philippines where I can make use of all those points Ive been racking up!!! :(

Mas OK pa sa Hilton is the Makati Shangri-La (spoiled! spoiled!) and also the Pan Pacific hotel in Singapore..

Can anyone suggest a nice hotel chain in the US and Europe that also has properties in Pinas?

Eng eng talaga itong London Hilton.. Im a diamond tier member (pinaka-mataas na pwedeng loyalty program level) tapos ni hindi nila alam! puunyetah! mamaya i shall demand for an upgrade sa executive suites nila..

tapos eto pa.. i lost 1 MILLION HOTEL POINTS kasi daw you can only have 100,000 points earned per single stay kainiss :(

next time i will check out and then immediately check back in the hotel every 2 weeks para sulit yung points..

1 million points.. pwede nang 2 alaska cruise yun.. or 10 weeks free stay.. 5 roundtrips london-pinas PUUUNYETAH!

I recently stayed at Shangrila Rosa Ria Resort in KK, Malaysia. Probably it's like the one visited by Noisy Cricket here in Cebu. It's so secluded, and the sand is so nice it's almost like powder. The staff are very courteous, and the facilities just great. They offer horseback riding by the beach, kayak lessons, etc. A lot of honeymooners were there also, such a romantic spot, eh?

Shangri-La... *sigh*.. they really live up to their namesake diba? When i get married, Shangri-La gusto ko honeymoon hotel ko ;).

Im going to be upgraded later to the executive suites sa Hilton. The idiots the just realized I WEEK LATER, na tipong Diamond Honors member ako nung hotel nila.. hows that for disservice? Maybe the suites there will change my bias for the Shang..

Sorry Noisy Cricket ha pero I don't think the Shang was that great:) kasi the beach front is too short and there were garbage floating in the water (at least when we were there). I also think that it would be a good honeymoon hotel if you don't mind the beach (but then yung beach nga dapat ang strong suit nila di ba?) :bungi:

Guys, guys!

I got an incredibly good rate at the DUSIT HOTEL NIKKO for the holidays. However, I've never stayed there before. Please give your reviews of the hotel naman o!

i've stayed in a Dusit in Bangkok and Jakarta and honestly.....there wasn't really anything outstanding about them both. it wasn't really bad at all, just that i wasn't impressed. kung first impressions ang pinaguusapan, it would have to be the Ritz Carlton hotels o kaya the Four Seasons group! *okay*

the sheraton chain used to be high up on the list with these players kaso eversince they went under the starwood group medyo nag-iba. if it's resorts naman, i'd go for a banyan tree property anytime! haven't tried any of the aman resorts though....hmmm!

It's not really a nice hotel if compared to makati shang pero pwede na rin... if the rate is good ok na... location wise convenient... i think the other hotels such as manila penn, mandarin and intercon are also offering discounts for extended stays... you can also try new world ...

when i went to the Philippines last year i stayed in a couple of hotels when i accompanied my aunty on her business trip to Davoa City and Cueb City . We stayed first at Elena Hotel i think its called its near the airport the day we arrived in Davoa and we transffered to Waterfront Insular Hotel , that was very beautiful the day after we went to Pearl Farm so we stayed there over night the was very very beautiful . We then flew to Cebu city we stayed at the same hotel as the one Davoa but its some Mactan its a casino hotel something like if u get what i mean .

I have also been to Manila Hotel , Shangri-la hotel and some other ones .

Here in Melbourne i have stayed at the Sheraton Towers , Crown Hotel and some others . Love hotels and room service and what they have to offer .

I recommend 2 great hotels in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico...La Jolla de Mismaloya and Hotelito Desconocido. The first one is a big resort with lots of people and 3 huge lake pools, great food and gorgeous girls and the other one is hidden and no electricity...just bare naked nature.

As far as I'm concerned, I hate big hotel chains. I prefer boutique style like "W" in NY and San Francisco. If you need info on bed and breakfast, I've been to lots of them here in the US. Four Seasons is between big and boutique but excellent except for the price!

I've been in some bad ones during my travels, but some good ones come to mind:

Gallery Evason Hotel Singapore- ultra modern furnishing, not to mention the glass pool!

Inter-Continental Hotel Tahiti and Moorea- Tahiti has the best view of Moorea Island from the lobby. Moorea has a relaxing atmosphere, good stuff and lovely beaches.

Bellagio and Venezian Las Vegas- favorite hotels in Sin City. Venezian has the best suite room with 6 tv's and deep bathtub.

Fiesta American Cancun-good food and scuba complex

Hotel Atlantis Barcelona- good value for a modern hotel

Hotel Carlton Madrid- love it for the rooms, very comfortable

The worst:

Paris/Rome hotels- too expensive for what you get, paper thin pillows and mattresses.

Actually I'll be staying at the INTERCON- Hotel for a 3 nights and my flight doesn't get to Manila till 4am - OK naman ba service nila? I might have to request for EARLY Check in - grabe I'll be arriving Manila ng 4am tapos check-in time nila eh 12pm pa ata. Don't want to be hanging out sa lobby ano? sasapukin ko sila.. he hee.. just wanted to know kung accommodating naman ang mga staff when it comes to this. Plus their airport transfer will be the one picking us up - so they better let me check in EARLY!!!

same as zimdude, i'm a business traveller. the hotels i stayed in are:

Marriot Hotel (HK) - small lang yung room but i loved the facilities.

Le Meridien Hotel (Melbourne) - ok lang. maganda ang exterior.

Sydney Vista Hotel (Sydney) - not very good. cheap hotel lang to na we stayed in when we went on a three day trip to Sydney. maganda lang location kasi medyo sentro ng city. walkable ang mga sites.

Akasaka Prince Hotel (Tokyo) - initial feedback ko dito maganda daw pero the room we stayed in was very high tech kung 70s pa rin ang panahon.

Hotel New Otani (Tokyo) - now this hotel I liked. loved the facilities. natuwa ako sa bidet nila at sa tv in the bathroom. hehehhe.

Hua Ting Hotel (Shanghai) - ok lang. nothing spectacular.

Jing Guang New World Hotel (Beijing) - ok lang din.

Hotel Mulia (Jakarta) - nice din itong hotel na ito.

i don't pay for them myself too! shouldered ng company lahat.

The best hotel I ever stayed in was at Laguna Palace Hotel at Venice, Italy. Swanky, grabe!

Maganda rin sa Hotel Nice Rivoli sa Nice, France because it was located at the center of the city so you're near everything, even the Promenade!

I used to love staying at Parklane Hotel sa Hongkong. I dunno lang kung maganda pa rin dun.

Locally, I still love Shangri-La hotels. Andami kasing magagawa dun eh!
