I'm just curious? What will happen if these 2 great teams will clash again, being former rivals in the NCAA. Most of my uncles are from letran and my father and I are both from la salle.Everytime there is a reunion in our family, they will talk about the ncaa in the late 60's and 70's.Letran is fit to transfer in the uaap. I think that it will be great medieval battle!

I think the idea is also good since the said 2 schools are also worthy opponents in terms of basketball. Perhaps if the SAN BEDA-ATENEO dual meet will have a positive outcome, then I think La Salle & Letran can also organize their own meet & if it turned out to be ok this will be a very convincing scenario to make a special pre-season tournament w/c is composed of these 4 ex-exlusive all boys schools. ANIMO SAN BEDA! ONE BIG FIGHT! GO LA SALLE! ARRIBA LETRAN!

why not form a BIG4 League?

La salle
San Beda
Ateneo

Whatever happened to the planned matches of these 4 schools?

I have read in one of the threads that ABSCBN was planning of having a sporting event as early as last summer just before the start of the college basketball season last May. Baka eto na yon simula!!! *okay*

I think ABS-CBN will market these games, if the Archers-Knights materialize. The San Beda-Ateneo games are just on their takeoff starting this Saturday. If the event this coming Saturday will garner success, I'm sure ABS-CBN will capitalize on it.

ABS-CBN should telecast over the air, matches between the 4 schools. It would surely be a blockbuster hit! It's like going back to our roots. They should add it on the bantay- bata charity games.Maybe we should send a petition to the ABS management? *okay*

Some people are indeed pissed off with the Ateneo-San Beda friendship games. ;)

If you have read the posts here in the NCAA section, some hardcore Letranista don't want anything to do with La Salle. :rotflmao:

There's none in the works according to the grumpy old Gang Green squad.

They've had enough of La Salle making a fool of itslef. Yeo! Yeo! Yeo! :rotflmao:

If ever it does happen, I'm on the side of the Letranites to beat the crap out of La Sallian *******. *peace*

So why are those "some people" pissed off with the SAN BEDA-ATENEO dual meet?

renestrauss2004
Dec 9, 2005, 02:42 PM
Some people may be pissed off by these or that school etc... etc... We'll just let them be, ganyan naman talaga ang menality ng iba °Talangka°

But i think the Ateneo - SBC matchup is a nice idea,...
or a Knights-Archers game if ever there will be one.

Remember that all 4 original ALL BOYS schools have great basketball traditions etched in the NCAA annals and were at each other for many decades before Ateneo and Lasalle jumped-ship to the other league. I recall the likes of Watson, Rabat, and Israel going head to head with JV Yango, Chuck Barreiro and the Guzman twins during one encounter. Likewise, King Archer Lim Eng Beng up against First Knight Ricky Pineda shooting the lights out of Loyola Center with both dishing out 50plus points in a single game...

Sana matuloy *okay*

If a Letran-La Salle game will push through, then there must be a Legends Game at all costs!

Let's see how the undefeated La Salle Legends match up against the likes of the legendary Samboy Lim and other forty-something Knights Legends like Romy Ang, Terry Saldana, Itoy Esguerra, Tano Salazar, Art Ayson, Dong Libed, Tino Pinat, Chito Mojica, Joe Bolido and to be coached by Larry Albano!

Dapat Kasi Ang College Basketball Dito Parang Sa U.s. Na Eh, They Also Have Separate Leagues There The Acc, Big Ten, Sec, Big East, Pac 10 In Fact There Are At Least 32 Or 33 Different Leagues There. But The Thing Is They Have An " Out Of Conference " Schedule. And That Is When They Play Schools From Other Leagues. Like Duke From The Acc, Gets To Play Kentucky From The Sec With Regularity. I Suggest That Dito Sa Atin. The Schools Should Play A Minimum Of 5 Out Of Conference Games Every Year, And I Suggest That All Of The Collegiate Basketball Leagues Start At The Same Date. And The The Top 2 Schools Of Each League Automatically Advances To The National Championship. A Field Of 32 Schools Probably. Tapos 1 Loss Your Out Format. Ganda Nun Di Ba ? Every Year May Undisputed National Champions Tayo. I Also Wish That The Collegiate Basketball Season Should Run For 5 Months ( From June - November ) Because Lets Face It, The P.b.a. Is A Bore !!!!, The Pbl Is More Exciting Than The P.b.a., But Collegiate Basketball ? Well Thats Another Great And Better Story. Hope This Happens.

I think that's a good idea but you have to think NCAA in the US have budget for funding the tournament unlike in PINAS we don't have sufficient fund and secondly masyado politics sa basketball kaya up to now we can not produce players who can play in the NBA i'm not saying there's no qualified players in PINAS but what i'm trying to point out is there no support from the government look what happened sa Southeast Asian Game which was held sa PINAS we got no team to represent because ALL Basketball organizations have there own agenda WATAK WATAK buti pa non we have the NORTHERN CONSOLIDATED at least we have exposure internationally and our local players can show their talent worlwide like when we beat the US team sino ang nagpanalo ng team SAMBOY(my idol) and Allan Caidic and US coach can't figure it out how to stop the magnificent duo di ba? Anyway, if you need signatures for the petition of your proposal count me in DUGO ARRIVA RIN AKO! *okay*

arriba, your right, money is indeed a big problem back home. kung kasing yaman ko lang si bill gates finance ko 80% ng expenses. sayang. But who knows we may get to see this dream come true one of these days. And if this tourney were to start now, i know that our knights will be contenders, they could be final 4 material.

For starters, there's the Champions' League...

I really don't get it why the NCAA folks don't see the significance of this organized tourney. Perhaps, if there's a NCAA team should win the crown, the acknowledgement should follow. :naughty:

no you got me all wrong, the champions league is a great tourney, kaya lang parang bitin nga. not everybody is represented. if you noticed during the last 2 stagings of the tournament very limited ang participation ng schools from the north. this idea is not about the NCAA vs. the UAAP ! i have no qualms about the UAAP being better than the NCAA because that is the truth, at least for now.

another thing, hindi maganda yung format nung tournament last time. wherein the seeded teams had to wait kung sino makakalaban nila. parang lalong lumiit yung opportunity nung mga lesser seeds. kaya nga dito, may instances wherin the number 15 seed gets to beat the number 2 seed. its all about equal opportunity for everyone.

and lastly, the champions league was the brain child of mr. joe lipa. and in my book coach joe rocks !!!!

vitrixx,

tama ka bat di pa 100% para walang kumontra. this is my dream, 32 schools divided into 4 regionals of 8 schools to be played in 4 different cities. west, east, north and south. tapos knock out format hangang ang matira eh yung champions ng bawat regional. tapos yun final four na, at a different venue it can be in manila, cebu, dagupan, baguio etc etc

speaking of lasalle vs letran.. at this point, im sure it will be tough fight for both team.. reasons:

lasalle has the heart of winning eventhough they have the smallest line-up.. quickness, teamwork, winning tradition, and their forte full-court press..

letran being the star-studded team this year, perimeter shooters, defense, also has full court press, best guard in town..

although i can say na malayong malayo sa academics and lasalle sa letran.. proven
