Walang kinalaman ang JRU dyan. Hindi sila ang nag-isyu nang PEP certificates in question.
But to an observer, you can't help but ask,"Bakit di naka-graduate ng maayos sa high school sina Benitez at Gatchalian?"

JRU officials refuse to let go of their hs stars but DLSU recruiters were relentless in their recruitment program. Sino ba naman ang di gusto makapaglaro sa top varsity school such as lasalle. And they found a loophole in the DECS program of hs students wanting to enter college..."MONEY TALKS" so to speak

i agree with mr. renestrauss, di naman siguro liable ang jru sa fiasco na ito. sino ba ang nag recruit ? and yes, money really talks.

i also agree with rene!! nasa recruitment process nagkakaroon ng "hocu pocus" but why would jru withold(kung totoo man) ang graduation ng mga players? bakit ang san beda? even coach ato is very proud to see his players do well in the other league?
to eddiegil: wala nga bang mandaraya sa NCAA? siguro nga.. ut would you mind looking at your own backyard?

I am an alumni of Jose Rizal University and I would like to make some comments on this matter in the NCAA forum, there's one post I made at the UAAP forum and ncaa.org.ph. As far as the university is concerned JRU is nothing to do with this...until such time the UAAP board or any governing body that would investigate further the records of these players, JRU will give them their high school records. As far as Mark Benitez is concerned he really wated to play for Jose Rizal Heavy Bombers, but he was on Team B due to subject deficiencies... his father played a major role why he ended up in La Salle over Ateneo, but prior to that Mr. Salgado of DLSU asked the help of JRU athletic officials to help him get Benitez, but our official turned them down. On Gatchalian case he had a subject deficiency which is "speech & public speaking language", he will also land on Team B. What JRU wanted is to finished their incomplete subjects, so that they could play... but it happened otherwise they take the PEP test and now they are being investigated.
As for Mac Cardona he is included in the lineup for JRU Bombers until his mother migrated to the United States and a La Salle alumni spotted him and shoulder his air fare for him to get back in the Phils. and play for La Salle. Cardona's record in JRU is that he's eligible for 4th year HS and upon completion he'll have a chance to play in the NCAA. The reason why JRU didn't field this players is because of academic problems and the university know what will be the consequences. JRU will not tolerate any players whom didn't pass the university standard, even if it is a blue chip player. Marami pa diyan DECS or CHED should look into this matter, when i'm still playing for JRU (then JRC) in the NCAA meron nang ganito... katulad ng mga bagsak sa NCEE. If you fail to pass you cant get into college kaya dapat nang putulin ang ganitong sistema. Sayang naman ang scholarship it's a pity recently lang pinalabas ang Coach Carter, if that movie shown earlier marami siguro ang nag aral na athlete and my info came from one of the University Director of JRU.

Guys, there are talks in Atenista.net that some schools in the NCAA fielded ineligible players for the seniors division.
Some schools were named.. I just don't wanto to name them here. Please chech Atenista.net and hope you can clear the air over there.
It seems that some people will try to drag the NCAA down together with the UAAP.

Celtics, thanks you so much for the information. I hope JRU still continue to monitor the studies of their players - kasi kinakahan ako baka kasi puro laro na lang ang gagawin nila - at pag oras ng gagraduate ay di nila ipapasa kasi may bagsak. JRU avid fan.

infairness to JRU, okay yung laro ng team nila kahit na puro rookies. kahit talo, aba sobrang liit lang ng gap. they would lose by only 2 points, 4 points..mga ganyan. nakakagulat nga e. lahat sila may potential! okay lahat.. yung bagong coach muka namang okay, team line up pati court side reporter okay! goodluck nalang heavy bombers!
