I used to like reading these books as a child. I guess they're not that popular anymore.. what do you think?
My kuya and I have a collection of these! :D :D :D I used to read them too, with a bunch of bookmarks by my side so I can go through all the possible story endings. I remember still seeing newer editions in bookstores, but I guess they aren't that as popular with kids as before.

i have two of thoose books at home... parang may choices ka kung anong gusto mong gawin... ang cool nga eh...
Zen: daya! ;)
LOL kulits :D On my first run through, I go with my own decisions THEN I try the other ones. :)
Does anybody remember those children's/teen's books, where the lead is a detective, and there are about 1-2 pages of narrative, after which the detective solves the crime, then you have to guess why he was able to solve it thru the clues in the narrative?

i used to cheat too on that book. nakakaasar kasi kung pangit yung ending na makukuha mo.
uptowngirl: meron pa yata. just ysterday my brother bought one.

Ira: I think you're talking about Two-Minute Mysteries. Cool yon. ;) i still have the yellow book, i lost the violet one though.
I collected choose-your-own adventure books when i was in elementary kaso nawala na silang lahat. i dunno where they are now. :(

I used to read these, but I never really got hooked. They were okay. My favorite one, forgot the title, was where I ad to find this unicorn, coz I needed it's horn to purify the town well coz the water has been polluted (a dead rat was found in the well)... I remember going through all the possible endings of that book. :p

Do any of you remember this CYOA title "The Race Forever"? It was such a strange CYOA title because if you went through the book right (as in you don't die) you'll keep on going around and around in a loop and never finish the book :p
Ira: I think you're referring to the Encyclopedia Brown series, another one of my old favorites :)

When I think about it ... I don't think I've ever read a single Choose Your Own Adventure book without cheating. When I say cheating I mean I used to mark the page I was coming from and peek at the results of the two (or more choices) and go to the better one. Defeated the whole purpose of it, I know.

My true colors...lemmesee.
Beige, a little brown, a little black and blue.
Otherwise, I'm peachy keen.
There were these books that kinda resembled CYOA, but they were RPGs. You roll dice, fight, collect inventory and make choices as to where to turn. I liked that better.
BUT IT STILL TURNED ME INTO A POWER-MA.......

I really loved that series! I was able to collect from no 1 until about no 70 something then I started to lose interest na. Like the rest of you guys, yup I cheated once in a while, pero ang saya magbasa. Parang text version ng mga RPG games talaga yun eh. I think I've got them all stashed somewhere in my room... not really sure... sure would like to reread it again though!

Hey Guys,
I really fell in love with these books back in elementary to early high school years of my life, which led me to the possessed frenzy on collecting them during that time. I only got tired of them when I turned puberty, but that's a different story.
Now that I am an adult now, I'd like to go back to them and finish my collection.
I'm trying to complete the whole series of the Choose Your Own Adventure books, so if you're no longer really interested in those books and would like to sell them to me for a very reasonable second-hand book price (and if I don't have that title) , please contact me on jmcarmona@adb.org .
There are still around 50 + books that I still dont have out of the 184 books (the series ended on #184).
Thank you guys for this, I really appreciate this.

I loved the original Choose Your Own Adventure™ books, especially those written by Edward Packard.
The ones today aren't as interesting, but I still don't mind reading the old ones. :)

I have some (7-8), but they are all back in my hometown. I usually borrow those books from my friends. :)
I do know that one store in Zamboanga sells them at a really cheap price (P30-P50). I'll check with BookSale if they still have some copies lying around.

My first "Choose Your Own Adventure" Book was pretty exciting because of the setting. It's in England and about dwarves, fairies and goblins. I didn’t mind being transformed into a wolf, or finding a treasure or being struck by a dagger. Anyway, I have a lot of endings to choose from which I all tried just for the heck of it. And yeah, I certainly like the illustrations. :D

My first Choose your own adventure book was called Sugarcane Island (or escape from sugarcane island). I was in gradeschool and if I am not mistaken I actually still have a copy. :)
I would go through it based on my first choices and then later I check out what the other options were. hehehe. Just couldn't resist.
There were other spin-offs though, I remember having a sherlock holmes kind of thing where you solve the mystery based on the clues given.
I think they do still sell copies of CYOA books, but I haven't picked one up in ages. :P

I had a couple of these books but funny I don't know where they are now.
During my time, each book cost me around P 31.50 :*)
I wonder if these books are still available and how much do they cost.
