Maybe tinatamad lang talaga sila. Or maybe they feel it gives them character!
Who knows? I was thinking about this too, but let go of it with the thought, "to each his own."

Grumpy: Baliktad, textese (as you call it) got its origin from email... The reason being, back then modems were like 300 bps lang or sometimes even slower so nagtitipid talaga sa characters mga tao (incidentally that's also the reason why data compression - you know yung zip, arj,etc - was invented). The reason it still exists now is, tradition (sanay na tao) and convenience... I say if you get the meaning across then ok lang kahit Morse code pa gamitin mo...

i know i'm showing my age with this, but the text-ese that shows up in my e-mail, and occasionally on the board, bugs me. malaki naman yung computer keyboard, hindi naman per character yung charge. i guess i'd like to see real words on anything but a cellphone screen.
- text-ese. hmmm, is that a word?

i remember how txters used to spell out whole words ... my friends & i, avowed chataholics, used irc shortcuts sending txt msgs ... but txt shortcuts now have gotten much too short ... maybe that's what got grumpy grumpy ;)

asar ako sa mga nag t-text sa keyboard. sa totoo lang ha, hinde naman yung thumb ang pinang ch-chat/email/post sa pex, eh bakit kelangan mag textese? (wow it's a new word for me)
hinde naman talaga convenient ang mag textese sa keyboard at saka nakakasira ng spelling skills ng isang tao ang textese.
ako? asar sa mga nag t textese sa internet.
