Who's the best Vampire in any of Anne Rice's novels? [Archive]

Nope, LASHER is not a vampire!!! He's a TALTOS, which is something totally different from our bloodsucking fiends...*** may sabi'ng vamp c LASHER?!? :eek: He's from the witchinghour trilogy (the Mayfair Witches). My favorite vampires would definitely be Armand and Louis...Armand (or Amadeo) is so sensual, so devastatingly handsome, good and evil rolled into one!!! Louis dPdP is every bit a vampire and yet, unbelievably human at the same time...dark hair, green eyes --- ahhh!!! Both of them are tops for me...magpapakagat na lang ako!!!!

lasher is not a vampire. he's a taltos, in fact, he's not from the vampire chronicles he's from the witchinghour trilogy. in my opinion his book is perverted, :eek: i had to skip several pages kasi nangdiri ako...but never the less he's just a fragment of anne rice's imagination. my fave vamps are armand (or amadeo, as marius called him) and louis (lestat's fledgling). armand is sensual, and devastatingly beautiful...he's like good and evil rolled into one...and louis, he's every bit a vampire and human at the same time, a true gentleman! your right, antonio banderas is no armand...brad pitt however did justice to louis' character.

For me, it's Khayman of "The Queen of the Damned." 'Yun pa lang ang nababasa ko aside from "Interview." Khayman's the third oldest of the vampires (more than 3000 yrs old, if i remember correctly) but he's so kind and also vulnerable since he experiences these memory lapses. He forgets his past, or many parts of his past.

it's gotta be david and maharet for me. david kasi he had all this powers before becoming a vampire so it all got enhanced when he became one; and maharet cause she just had staying power. imagine, enduring centuries of living without losing your mind.

Definitely Lestat. The Vampire Chronicles would be boring without him. He's just so full of energy and he's kinda sexy and wicked. And I don't think he's a bad vampire, it's just that he's too much of a dare-devil and he was too misunderstood on the first chapter specially sa movie. I like Louis too because he's so gentle and kind.

based on the novels i have read...(from interview to memnoch) i like the following: Lestat (Of course), Louis (vampire with a soul), and Marius (depth of character)and i must say i have to admire Akasha too. I'm looking forward to reading armand, pandora and the rest of the chronicles.

I wonder if there are still coven rules that Lestat hasn't broken yet :lol:

But I have a soft spot for Louis, his love for the senses intrigues me, his compassion for human life touches me.

(I don't care what Mme. Rice says, the movie Interview With The Vampire did not do the book justice.)

for me, of all Anne Rice's vampire characters. I go for Armand. I was so inspired by The Vampire Lestat where he has his story there, as narrated (through the point of view of Lestat) by Lestat, that i did my own story about him with a love twist with claudia and some orphan girl and of course his creator Marius. That's why I got interested with pedophilia. Anne's description of him as a boy out of botticelli painting is enough for me to visualize my own armand. and then The Vampire Armand came out. di ko type si antonio banderas, baka si leonardo dicaprio, pwede pa.

i have to admit... i like Armand. although i really found the book "The Vampire Armand" irritating. it made me want to scream shota-con!!! pedophilia!!.... and he's kinda spoiled... but i relate to him, in a way. ^^

Pandora. she's super independent, and... cool. So's Gabrielle.
Marius is great too. He's the "wise" sort of vampire. But then, so's Maharet.

i still have to read Merrick, but a friend who had already read the novel told me this:

louis, david talbot & lestat are in this book.

It is Louis who brings about the collision of the fang and voodoo universes. Louis made Claudia a vampire in Rice's classic Interview with the Vampire, in which she was destroyed, and now he's obsessed with raising her ghost to make amends and seek guidance from the beyond. (Claudia physically resembles Rice's young daughter who died of a blood-related illness. Rice nearly died of a diabetic coma in 1998, and writing Merrick turned her excruciating recovery into an exhilarating burst of creativity).

Vampire David Talbot lobbies Merrick to call Claudia's spirit and slake Louis's guilt, but Talbot winds up in the grip of an obsession with the witch. Merrick can cast spells to make men crave her, and Talbot is tormented. eh si louis na-inlove kay merrick. nagkaroon yata ng vow si louis and david na hinding-hindi nilang gagawing vampire si merrick. eh sa sobrang pagka-inlove ata ni louis kay merrick, ginawa niya ring vampire si merrick, tapos nagpakamatay si louis by throwing himself in a fire. eh di sunog na sunog na siya. binuhay siya ni lestat, david and merrick by pouring/giving their blood to him or something tapos about dun sa love-strory ni louis&merrick, hindi ko na alam kung anong nangyari!:D

based on the profiles i've read on the said site, the vampires i like most is Maharet and Khayman (ancestors ni Jesse).

my fascination with anne rice's creatures has recently crept back from its cellar. i am looking forward to reading Vittorio and Blood and Gold. actually i didn't quite read the books in order though (interview, lestat, queen, then pandora, body thief, memnoch, armand...)

anyways, as for my favourite dark gods, they are:

Pandora- wicked grecian child of the millenia(i was disappointed with the book though, and preferred her in queen of the damned)

Armand- beloved botticelli choir angel amidst bernini's satyrs

Claudia- doomed child (will merrick contact her in the book, well, merrick?)

Maharet and Mekare-receptacles of inimutable strength (pity mekare doesn't get to say anything)

Bianca- wanderer-revenant-courtesan

of course i just fancy the image of armand holding claudia: the perfection of death forever etchded in vampiric flesh...

Been disappointed with the last book I read by Anne Rice: Memnoch the Devil. :burndvl: However the previous ones from the Vampire Chronicles :flamedvl: (Interview with the Vampire, the Vampire lestat, the Queen of the Damned) belong to the best of her work. I absolutely love Marius and Khayman's characters. Louis' too, I suppose, but if I were to rank them, Marius would come first, then Khayman, then Louis. They are the perfect immortals for me--they've lived for hundreds of years on end (in Khayman's case, a couple of millennia) but still retain a great deal of their humanity.

Just my two cents' worth. ;)

For those who made corrections as to the characters in Rice's novels, thanks! I'd like to reiterate that TALTOS is not a vampire but a Taltos. He is indeed a beautiful creature. SIgh!

As for the vampires, I would prefer to choose Louise. I love the mixture of humanity and vampiric immortality in him. His soft side touches me as oppossed to Lestat's almost-pure vampire nature. However, I also appreciate Lestat in his development as a character.

most of the really old vamipres do get their skin tanned by the sun, in order to go unnoticed in the human crowd. also, actually, the ancient ones are more powerful than him (i think even marius and pandora are). if you've read the last part of memnoch, maharet tied him up in chains and he wasn't able to do anything about it. pandora herself, in her namesake novel, claims to have pwer to eliminate lestat, not that she'd do it, of course. :)

the damnedest creature, LESTAT!

i love him for his flaws. he's too impulsive, an immortal yet a child, a brat prince yet a dreamer, brave yet vulnerable, claims to be the ultimate evil but he does know how to love, how to need, how to feel!

i've read the first four books of the Vampire Chronicles, plus the modern tale of Pandora. I have yet to find copies of The Vampire Armand and Memnoch the Devil, plus I hear that the modern vamp tale of Vittorio is pretty good. anyone read it already?

yeah, Ashlar is sexee, unlike his fellow taltos Lasher. too bad he ain't a vamp. but he's bloody sexy as well! I'd prefer Ashlar anytime over Lasher! but Lestat is still tops for me!

who do you think gave a better portrayal of lestat? tom cruise or stuart townsend?

although townsend is really cute! up until now, i'm still wondering how the movie would have been with tom cruise as lestat...

so far i've read 4 of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles & I'd say I love MARIUS DE ROMANUS. He's sexy, powerful & all-knowing.

you're quite right about maharet being more powerful than lestat (I'm sure mekare is, too). But i doubt pandora (or even marius) is any more powerful than lestat NOW. Before Akasha maybe, but he drank from the fount too much, too heavily, which made him practically invincible.

I remember in Vampire Armand, Pandora said something like they couldn't be sure about Lestat's powers and what he could and would do then (she was talking to Armand, I think, who was strongly thinking of drinking from Lestat to see for himself if Lestat really drank from Jesus).

Anyway, my favorite character, hands down, is Lestat. He's quite the charmer - a sinner, a saint - with no apologies about it!

wouldnt khayman be more powerful than maharet and mekare...? he was made before the twins after all... well... maybe atleast maharet... since mekare ate up whatever was left of akasha... pero if im not mistaken... the ancient ones... they cant kill each other right...? unless they suck all the blood of the other ancient... right? just like what happened to Enkil

as for the question... Khayman is my favorite(masyado lang mysterious yung nangyari sa kanya... he slept... tapos pag gising nya, parang sobrang innocent na di nya alam sobrang powerful pala nya... he should have his own novel) followed by Eric(wala talagang sinabi about sa kanya pero funny lang how he was so scared nung queen of the damned coz he doesnt know if he's powerful enough to stand against Akasha... He would have an interesting story as well being Maharet's partner for a long time)
