i was just wondering if i am the only one who went through this stage. which is your favorite? dinaanan ko lahat eh. but my choice would be the university series.
Ay naunahan ako sa topic, hehe :)
I got hooked on Sweet Valley Kids, Twins and High, never got to the University stage though coz I feel I was too old to read Sweet Valley series. :p I loved the Sweet Valley Special Editions, also the Sagas. :)

I used to read SVH and SVU. However, after that whole drunk driving thing (after the prom I think), SVH became kinda dark. I never really got into SVU. What I did like were the sagas (about the earlier generations).

I went ga-ga over SVH, though I liked SVUs too.
Right now, SVH deals with the senioryear of Jessica and Elizabeth. New characters are introduced, who happen to be the students from El Carro, the school which was destroyed during the earthquake. But I don't like the new Sweet valley high. Senioryear series tends to be so...unreal. Not to mention that the entire plot revolves around the mush and romance, which gets to be so sickening.
I am still young, and supposed to be I still have to stick with the Sweet Valley University series. But the plots stop to intrigue me. They become predictable.
I read a li'l of sweet valley kids, then got hooked on sweet valley twins, high, and university...I even had a complete (well, almost) collection of SVU. Then I stopped. I thought I already graduated from reading this juvenile series but just last year, I got hooked (again) on Sweet Valley senior high..
..to think that I'm a college studentalready :o :o

Guiltu. :o Not only SVH, I was into the Babysitter's Club, practically either had or read the whole series. Also, the RL Stein thing, bad idea.

me! i used to read those books.
actually, nag start yan sa cousin ko, she bought me a SVK book, para daw ma improve ang reading skills ko. then tuloy tuloy na siya... pero mas gusto ko yun SVU... exciting yun story, medyo kakabitin pag hde mo binili yun next episode. but i got tired of reading them, kse parang paulit-ulit nalang yun nangyayari. parang the twins would get into trouble, tapos may away away pa yan, tapos isa sa mga boyfriends nila o isang guy na may crush sa kanila ang tutulong to get them out of the mess.
pero the best pa rin yun mga saga and thriller editions.
Eina: nabasa ko rin yun. i think the title's "A Night to Remember". tapos hde ko na nabasa yun continuation, yun "The Morning After", hde ko na kse mahanap sa mga book stores eh...

i got hooked on sweet valley twins and sweet valley high. for me the best among the three would be sweet valley twins, being the most realistic.

i was really addicted to SVH. siguro kasi SVU started when I was still in highschool and when I got to college, I stopped reading it na. pero i agree with eina, i loved the sagas. ang ganda ng concept nila na parang "sweet valley through the times". para hindi na lang lagi yung main characters ang nalalaman mo. pati ancestors nila... pero SVH talaga ako... next na ok yung Kids. mahilig kasi ako sa kids kaya parang tutoring book yun...

'Kakahiya' mang sabihin, I'm still in this stage... I never really got past this young adult stuff...

Oh yeah, I was bitten by the SV bug as well. I believe my favorites include the thick books (i.e. the Sagas, The Evil Twin, Bruce's Story and Lila's Story). For SVH, my favorite book was On the Edge where Regina died. It's great to acknowledge one's reading roots...For what it's worth, reading those books helped build my vocabulary.

It's awful, I used to buy Sweet Valley High books all the time when they were less than 50 bucks each. I even had the Sagas, tracing the family tree on the mom's side and the dad's side. It was really cheesy, but I was hooked anyway.

sweet valley, sweet dreams, and love stories...i remember those days na lima2 ang pagbili ko ng mga books.
favorite books ko:
sweet valley kids: lila's big secret or something. basta secret niya nag-pee-pee prin siya sa bed.
sweet valley twins: Poor Lila, Jessica the nerd and yung mga horror series nila....and chrismas specials
sweet valley high: murder in paradise
sweet valley uniersity: nung nasa cruise sila

I only passed through the Sweet Valley Twins & High phases... I lost interest when the Kids came. I totally skipped that and the SVU series... but I'm interested in the Senior Year series, especially in the Elizabeth-Conner tandem. So whenever I go to a bookstore, I take a peek and read their story...

I got hooked on them when I was in second grade. My first Sv books were The slime that ate SV, Poor Lila, and the case of the christmas thief. My favorite was Jessica's Blind date in SVT and the Death Valley series and Mystery Date on SVH and on SVU, the stories about Steven and Billie and Jessica and Mike McAllery. I liked SV Senior Year but I didn't follow it much. My sister buys them. I don't read SV anymore but I still want to complete the series.

I used to collect SVT since grade3. I have books 1-88 pati 7 super chillers, 5 super edition at yun 2 magna (ata???) editions. Yung first time ko bumili ng book Php34.95 lang grabe...tapos nun highschool i tried SVH but never completed my collection kasi sobrang mahal na...i also tried reading SVU (high school din) kalalabas lang nun pero nah did not like the story kasi i was getting hooked na kina johanna lindsay, jude deveraux, judith krantz...back in college i said to myself why not try to complete na lang SVT kasi nga umabot na ko ng #88 kaso grabe lampas hundred na ang book...at medyo frustrated na rin ako kasi yung Magna Edition "A Christmas Without Elizabeth" d ko pa rin mahanap so 2 out of 3 lang yung Magna ko...kaya itinigil ko na lang...:D

Yeah I remember Margo.. and Nora. Hehe.
I went through the Sweet Valley phase too. :)
I remember the first book I read, Sweet Valley Twins #17 Boys Against Girls. A classmate lent it to me. After that I was an avid reader. The Twins Little Sister (#49) was the first I ever owned.
I got a few Kids, some High, some super editions, a lot of the Twins almost all of the Unicorns, almost all of Senior Year, all of the Sagas and just one Univ (the one where they charged for murder.) :)
I never got into Junior High...I think I got too old for it. It came out the same time as Senior Year, I went for that one.
Sweet Valley is totally part of my youth, part of my growing up actually. I also saw the prices rise...49 bucks, then 59...all the way to 99. Hehe.
Hmmm, can I assume that all the people in this thread are girls? :D
Nakaka-senti naman tong thread na to. :)

I also had that Sweet Valley stage when I was in Grade 5, I think. I became obsessed and collected the books, from Kids to Twins to High to University. Nawalan na rin ako ng gana after a few years. Pero, tinopak ako (or mabait lang talaga ako?) and I donated most of it to a program in my school. I don't know where the books are now. Sayang because I even bought books from the States to fill up my collection. I didn't give all of them, though. I still have SVT&F The Curse of the Ruby Necklace and Steven Gets Even (this really cracks me up  ). But I am still looking for one book - kahit yun lang ang meron ako, okay lang. It's Home For Chrismas (I think). It's the one where they receive this twin dolls and they get transported to this fantasy world or something. I borrowed this from my friend and loved it! It had a poem that went like this:
Together apart
Wheels on a cart
Unite all these things
Eyes, feet, and wings
Scissors and socks
Hands found on clocks
Dolls harlequinn
(My very own twin!)
Together apart
Joined from the start
Answer this well
Escape the dread spell
Answer again
And magic's your friend
Add a good rhyme
Escape one last time
Hehe... Memorize pa rin!:*) Does anyone remember or have read this?

yapin...ah! I have that! The title is The Magic Christmas. :) Hehe. Nice story.
Ang bait mo naman, you donated your books. I'm sure some other kid out there is enjoying them. :)
Sometimes, if you're lucky, you may find old copies of Sweet Valley in Booksale stores. :) I see a lot of worn out SVH's in there...but finding Super Editions are tougher, but it's possible, you never know. :)
yeni... I can totally relate. :) I really saved for those books. :D
We still have our copies, it's a joint collection between me and my sister. :) They're still on the shelf, we read them every now and then, but I think they're heading for storage too. We're growing up and we need the space for other books. :)

yeah... i like the diary series... complete ako nung kay Elizabeth... she was my childhood idol... gusto ko maging ganun ka-responsible kagaya niya before...
but then i realized... her character was a Mary Sue... masyadong perfect... buti pa si Jessica...
i've always loved the Todd-Elizabeth team up kahit boring pa silang dalawa. never really loved Conner-Elizabeth in SVH Senior Year... mas okay pa yung Ken-Maria dun.:)

the first ever sweet valley book i had was "holiday mischief". SVT yun, reward from my mom for getting good grades nung grade 2 ako. although i also collected SVK, SVH, SVU & SVSagas, mas marami ang SVT books ko. i had 88 sweet valley books in all and they're still with me even though 21 na ako :) i was also into RL stine [fear street ROCKED!] and sweet dreams >.<

I got hooked on this series too! My very first Sweet Valley Kids book was "Jessica the TV Star". I was in Grade 2 back then. But I really liked the Sweet Valley High series. I was all-out for the Liz Wakefield - Todd Wilkins tandem, and Jess Wakefield - Sam Woodruff tandem too. :D Too bad Sam died. Lost interest in SVU because they turned Todd into a jerk. :ayaw:

oh wow! the sweet valley series was my absolute favorite book series while i was growing up. i considered elizabeth and jessica wakefield my best friends and i went to national bookstore more than once a week to make sure that i had the latest installment of the series. i thought that the sweet valley twins series was a lot of fun but i was particularly devoted to sweet valley high. im a sucker for good love stories and i liked the liz-jeffrey french tandem, jean west-scott trost, jessica-a.j. and jessica-sam woodruff among others. i wasnt able to follow SVU for a long time but i thought that tom watts was a darling. i cried when he and liz finally ended up together.
oh, and i LOVE the sagas too! great stories, well-written, and extremely tear-jerking and romantic, which we girls definitely love :)

Ah! Sweet Valley!
I liked SVT the best... it's the series I collected the most, because it fits me... next to that would be SVU. I stopped reading them years ago (ang tanda ko na kc) but I'll always remember reading them as part of my formative years.

i'll just revive this thread since i love this series so much.
anyway, my first sweet valley high book was v for victory and hanggang ngayon parang yun pa rin yung favorite kong sv book. goosebumps kasi hinahanap ko sa booksale eh eh wala sila so sinuggest ng mommy ko yung sweet valley high haha. minsan feeling ko masyadong "luma" ang svh para sa akin kasi hindi na siya binabasa ng mga teenagers like me pero okay lang haha. i bought all of them sa booksale lang and ngayon wala na akong mapglagyan haha wish ko lang makumpleto ko talaga siya.

If I may share, one of the SVH stories that really stuck w/ me was ..gosh I forgot the title but it's this girl Rebecca and Bruce was her bf. They broke up. Then she did drugs then she died because of an undiagnosed heart disease. That was my anti drug.
Anyway, I liked this story so much that when we had to to a "skit" dring highschool in my English class I picked this story, I wrote the script and everything. Siempre, the guy who played Bruce was this guy I had a crush on hehehehe :D
haaay....I'm feeling nostalgic.

^Brooke and Her Rock Star Mom, one nice story. :)
I actually remember some of my Twins favorites: Booster Boycott, Steven's Enemy, The Cousin War
I loved the Elizabeth and Todd love team. And then I remember the Special Series, diba? Oh, I also loved the Sweet Valley Saga! I so enjoyed that book. I also have Bruce's family saga. And the Evil Twin two-part series.
Obviously, I was a huge Sweet Valley fan. Hehehehe. I didn't like University at all. Hanggang High lang ang binasa ko.

I also like "The New Girl" - this was when she first moved in town.
there is a Bruce family saga? I sure missed that one :)
But I did read the Wakefield Saga :D
Lola Rose, you have read a lot more of this series than I but do you remember Double Jeopardy? Was that in SVU or High? It had a mystery/suspense storyline and darker than the other books. :)
Ako rin I like SVH , I haven't read University I don't think ....it's been awhile
