Don't sourgrape just because Jay Sagad punched in numbers for the Blazers and second, the Benildeans didn't expect that he would grab the MVP plum either. You should ask the statisticians personally why he was MVP. Or maybe ask the people who nominated for him. Your sarcasm is unfounded and it doesn't show humility in victory. First of all, where did I say or imply that i'm sourgraping in the first place about Letran's win? You could check the posts that I made in a thread that I congratulated Letran. The only thing that upsets me right now is that you're unconvinced about Sagad's performance. And if you're truly over with his MVP award then you shouldn't be saying things about him that you don't really understand. Second, you don't believe in stats and that is your prerogative but statistics do not lie about a player's performance throughout a season of basketball may it be PBA, NBA, UAAP, or even the NCAA for that matter. Apples and Oranges pare sa bawat liga, but statistics lang ang common factor when it comes to finding out who deserves the MVP plum. At ito ang nagsasabi kung ilan ang nagawa ng isang player regardless of the team's performance. At wag mo na ikumpara si Sagad kay Nash dahil iba sila ng level ng paglaro. Their value to their respective teams is still incomparable since we know that the NCAA has fewer games than an NBA season. His significance to the Blazers is his personal accomplishment as a workhorse for the team. But we all know its teamwork that works wonders. He just happens to excel a lot according to the stats. Even Nash would agree that he wasn't alone when he gave the Suns a chance to grab a conference finals. Amare Stoudamaire and the rest of the crew chipped in.

Almost doesn't count my friend. Your view of the results are tainted with doubt because you lack the information. If the numbers didn't count then we would have a lot of undeserving MVPs in the every league we could imagine. ;)

Making it to the final four, even in the finals would be irrelevant if each team tends to have one reliable scoring player like Sagad and the rest just do their best to help even if it means sacrificing their own stats or disregarding them. Again, its teamwork that will help you win the crown, but scoring on your own for the team is a risk in itself because it doesn't guarantee you the final victory but the personal glory is worth taking anyway. In this case, Jay never assumed to grab the personal glory of the MVP trophy. He just happens to be a workhorse inside and outside the shaded area. So give it a rest. If you wanna rant about the results, rant with facts and figures and show me a more deserving player. Because whether you like it or not, some of us will argue with you because you don't believe in the numbers.

Let's just face it guys, no matter how we argue, stats show the performance of a player, but the MVP is for the VALUABLE player to his team...NCAA sucks on this part, there should be regulations like the MVP should come from a Final Four team and voting should play a part...

In my opinion, NAjorda deserves to be the MVP, since without him, we can clearly see that SSC would have never reached the final 4...Espinas would be the second one since he really turned around the PCU...as for Letran, it's very hard to choose one since they are all contributing, Bautista clearly deserves the Fianls MVP award for his showing in the 3 games...

It's unfair for players like Najorda for someone like Sagad winning the MVP because of stats alone...They worked hard to reach the standing of their teams, while CSB did not even reach the Final four...and yet, the prized award is still given to him...

MVP award is a very recognized prize, it can be a merit for your pro basketball life...NCAA is very weak on this part, and I have to say that it;s very dissapointing that they haven't recognize this yet...

Imagine this, the bottom-dweller having the MVP...that would be truly devastating in my opinion

If we followed what Slick is trying to imply about being VALUABLE, I'd say there would be MVPs in each team in the NCAA because of their numbers for each team. PCU has Espinas, MIT has Kevin Dela Peña, SBC has Paterno, and so on.

I also thought that Leo Najorda would be the MVP but I guess we're not like the PBA or the Press Corp to give out such awards. It's just an award given by the NCAA committee alone. Hintayin niyo na lang ang year-end awards ng ibang organizations. :D

It's unfair in what way? Again, what other standards do we need to tell if a player is doing more for his team? Please remember that its a team sport. Everybody contributes for the team, and being an MVP is not in every player's mindset because they know that individual stats don't count when in comes to winning games. You can call it balanced scoring for everone who made it to the final four. And it just so happens that a player like Jay Sagad met the required numbers to prove his worth as an MVP. Hmmm, how the team fares is irrelevant when you are counting individual stats. Again I must stress the importance of a team game. Espinas became MVP and ROY simply because he put on spectacular numbers for his team last year. Kaya ko tinanatanong sayo kung MVP finals ang hanap mo dahil feeling mo unfair nanaman kahit mataas ang stats ni Jay Sagad.

We should not compare our league to others because we have our own standards. And the only general rules we follow are the ones imposed by FIBA. UAAP is unique, and so is ours. Let it stay that way. Who knows they might adapt certain rules that the other league has used already. But let me ask you this question, what is that other vote that we need to determine an MVP? Should we change the term valuable to most voted?
