I like Og Mandino!
The first book I read was The Christ Commission. I especially like the part where he described Christ's resurrection. :)

I also have the book the greatest secret in the whole world. A very good self-help book. Helps you to assess/re-assess your life. A definitely must have book of his. :D

I have a copy of the greatest secret in the whole world. But honestly, I couldn't seem to finish it. :( I really wanna finish it though. I've memorized the first two parts!

I read Og Mandino during my elementary years. I like "Gift of Acabar" (which is co-written with Buddy Kaye). It is a very simple tale, almost child-like. But I didn't much fancy his other works like "The Greatest Salesman in the World," "The Greatest Secret in The World' and "The Christ Commission." I think people should read Mandino rather than the foul and execrable "The Celestine Prophecy" by James Redfield.

Leo Buscaglia is a must read. He is an intelligent writer. Like his "Living, Loving and Learning" and the book simply titled "Love." I also love his memoir about his father.

:)

"Man is happiest when he is creating. In fact, the highest state of which man is capable lies in the creative act. Love always creates, it never destroys. In this lies man's only promise"
---Leo Buscaglia

The Greatest Salesman in the World is a great inspirational book. It has helped me weather a lot of storms in my life "...Like a mariner who sails through the wrath of each storm..."

"...I will persist until I succeed, I will try and try again...and when temptation beckons my tired body homeward, I will resist the temptation to depart..."

"I will live this day as if this were my last..."

"I will greet this day with love in my heart..."

"I will laugh at the world..."

"I will act now..."

"I will pray to God for Guidance..."

"I am nature's greatest Miracle..."

and my personal favorite:

"This too shall pass..."

I also read "The Gift of Accabar" and started on "Mission Success".

I'll also check out the Greatest Secret in the world. Seems good from your reviews.

The last Og Mandino book I got to read was The Spellbinder's Gift.
It was pretty good, but not as good as his earlier works.
I still think The Greatest Miracle in the World & The Greatest Salesman in the World are his best. :)

Sis winterswirl, Leo Buscaglia is, for me, one of the best authors in the world in the sense that he dared to write about LOVE in all its beauty.

It's so sad he passed away sometime ago. His works are really so heartwarming.

Anyway, for starters, try Living, Loving and Learning and Loving Each Other.

i wonder if there are original published books of the wonderful leo buscaglia. the ones i bought are under 100 bucks. (which i have no complains of!) but the paper's the kind used in mimeographing. recycled i think. la lang, i just want the hard-bound ones. para may permanence.

I have read "Gift of Acabar" and the "Greatest Salesman in the World", they have inspired me to strive and believe in myself...i was required to read Gift of Acabar in Highschool and i once again encountered him when i get to read Greatest Salesman in College. :)

do Og Mandino and Leo Buscaglia have the same style? unfortunately, i haven't seen any of his works. :(

dana woodrose: It's hard to find hardbound Leo Buscaglia books but I would suggest you check out with Goodwill or National Bookstore. I think I saw some in one of those two bookstores. Try asking PowerBooks too. :)

Leigh: No, they don't have the same style. They don't have the same theme either. Og Mandino writes most often about success and how to achieve it, Leo Buscaglia always talks about love.

If suggest you get yourself a copy of Living, Loving and Learning or Loving Each Other. They're really great books! :)

"The Gift of Acabar" is the only Og Mandino book I've ever read, and I find it heart-warming yet simple. :bookworm2:

I find Leo Buscaglia's writings on love and life very insightful. He makes you think about what love should really be like... :)
Come to think of it, his books affected me, the same way as Tuesdays with Morrie did. Nakaka-touch, and napapaisip ka... :)

Leo Buscaglia's books are great! I have the 2 books mentioned: Living, Loving and Learning and Loving Each Other. San kaya ako makakabili ng 'Love' na book nya? My room mate before bought that at booksale (around 4 years ago pa yun), gusto ko hingin, nahiya lang ako.

I also saw the hard bound copy of Living, Loving and Learning sa book sale, 100 + lang, di ko binili kasi meron na ako nung less than 100 na pangit na copy.

leslie_ann: Nakita ko na rin yang LOVE a long, long time ago, I can't even remember where. Pero sayang yung hardbound, kung ako nakakita nun sana, bibilhin ko na. :)

sentiments: You're welcome. I hope you find them. They're worth it!

I worship Leo B.!!!!!! can't find the right word to describe him. Meron din ako Living, Loving and Learnig, tsaka Loving Each Other.
