siguro she's from one of those schools.. dinagdagan nya lang kasi bka nahihiya siya. she wants to know what we think of them. o diba tama ako??

same logic goes with exclusive schools for gurls. dito madalas matagpuan ang babaeng naghahangad ng kapwa nila, yung may-ari rin ng ari babae, tapos sympre di mawawala ang mga konyo at pa-conyo, mga nerdz, feelingera, inggitera, atribida, chismosa, may mukhang katulong, wide variety of chickababess to fit every man's preference, may malalandi, may pakipot, may hindi marunong gumamit ng deodorant, may buhaghag, may masayang kasama, may adik sa shopping at kikay, may mapag-balat kayo, pa-bibo, at pa-pampam!

if you're talking about the highschool's of these schools, well, unfortunately, girls from these schools are often misjudged, the assumptionistas are "maarte", the scholasticans are "siga", the povedans are "conyo", etc. I admire girls who graduated from these girls (I went to UST for college, which is a melting pot of people from all kinds of schools) - they seemingly are more confident in class (they participate more and take on challenging questions which usually make students avoid the teacher's attention). All in all, i think women from these schools certainly have an edge over alot of girls from other high schools. For college, I can't say much, but I do notice a STARK difference between the high school girls and the college girls. And, according to my friend - no girl from these hs in their right mind would actually think of going to the college :P unless she didn't get in any of the universities of their choice (normally the top 4)

Actually she is right, not only to those girls who graduted from the said schools but I think it goes for everyone. No one in their right mind would settle for a college unless they didnt get into the university of their choice.

I passed BS Psychology also but unfortunately, nawalan na ako ng slot due to late enrollment. I was offered other course but I still chose to take up Psychology that's why I studied in St.Scho. I never heard that UST will give up a slot for someone who passed the exams because late nagenroll. Baka naman you were on the waiting list for your course kasi pag you passed talaga first priority ka kahit na malate ka ng konti...and probably you passed your second choice thats why they offered you another course (which is probably your second choice). Well anyway...you should'nt really chose a school because of its good name lalo na if you cant really study the field you wanted to study kasi di ka magiging masaya.

Hindi naman ako sa nagdidiscriminate, parang para sakin mas okay if sa University ka papasok. Lalo na if you got into the better ones.

caryatid: I agree with you. And weirdo yan si Yellow she always says na "DLSU na lang pangmayaman" Hello. Lalang that's a weird way of choosing a school.

samantha: parehas tayong galing sa mga girls' school na "exclusive" (I'm not from St. Paul Pasig - - but I'm from one of those schools mentioned :P) and I'M QUITE sure, like me, hindi ka din naka-encouter nang mga girls na ganyan ka crass at bulgar magsalita about their supposed wealth and status...Experience ko, bihira sa mga schoolmates ko na sinisigaw na "ako, dito ako dahil madaming mayaman" (parang yung isa jan :P). Filipino Film and TV has completely twisted image of the "girl from exclusive school" - - mga exagg na mahilig mang-api ng iba na sobrang arte. Hindi nila alam, may nadali rin ng MARIMAR craze yung iba from those schools...and yes, masarap kumain ng streetfood (taho!) sa labas ng school :P The most affluent girls from my school (meaning the ones coming from the OLD RICH na talaga) were one of the most simple, down to earth ones. That's something posers can take note of :)

samantha_jones
Aug 16, 2005, 04:01 PM
^^Sa St. Paul ako natuto kumain ng streetfood (fishballs, mangga ang bagoong) against the rules shempre..(yes bawal siya nalulugi yata ang canteen?).

And what you're saying is true I never had classmates na sinasabi sa lahat na "I study here because this is where the well-off are." You'll only know na they had that much to spare because of their things (a myriad of sanrio's, st micheal socks, and whatever else).
And it's also true that the most affluent girls are the most down-to-earth, simple and barok ones (esp if they are with their friends) you will ever hang out with, not sacrificing class and breeding.

May pagka social climber ang poser na to...

My most memorable "baduy" moment would be the Marimar Craze at our school. Isang kabarkada ko nagpa "Marimar Highlights" :D Ako naman, lagi kong hinihantay yung message sa beeper (so retro!) para sa ending the episode ng Marimar (pag late ako umiwi).

well thank you. ;) anyway, you were asking for honest outsiders' perceptions lang naman, doesnt necessarily mean everyhting i said was true. (sana ganito lagi sa pex, bigayan, pa-hambolan.. di tulad ng mga ibang puro pambabash at bagyo lang ang alam) ...and you know what, you are so, so right about saying na it's much better to go to a school na kahit na hindi kasing-sikat ng iba, at least you study what you really want, your happy with it, & thus you'll more likely do good! cuz there are really a lot and i mean A LOT of people na nag-aral lang sila sa School na yun dahil pangalan lang ang habol nila kahit yung pinasa nilang course eh hindi naman nila gusto or 2nd choice lang nila, minsan nga inoffer lang na course kahit ayaw nila basta lang maka-pasok. ewan ko ba, theyre even worse than students of provincial universities.

meron nga ko frend from an exclusive girls high school rin, she wanted to transfer from UP baguio to UP diliman, kasi raw syempre mas maganda ang "name".. pero ang nilipatan naman nya is Social Work, na hindi naman talaga nya field. OK nga ang school, pero yung tunay na sense nung pag-aaral nung gusto mong gawin for the next years of your life e nawawala na. haayyy... kakaawa

tapos yung frend ko namang isa, hhe didnt pass his choices na UST, tapos he found out na sa Conservatory of Music tumatanggap kahit di makapasa ng USTET, mukha kaming engot nun cuz we were forcing him to go and enroll na lang with that course then magshift sya later on, buti na lang hindi nya tinanggap! why? cuz i myself found out na hindi tumatagal ang mga not-so-musically inclined sa UST Music Consevratory, peperahan lang nila ang mga frustrated at feeling musicians na ito dahil hindi rin naman sila tatagal.. at di rin tumatanggap ng shifters sa UST, kasi nga parang lumalabas na fallback ang ibang courses ng flunkers ng ibang courses. dapat pasukan mo yung gusto mo talaga, hindi dahil yun ang kursong pwedeng tumanggap sayo! and yung frend ko, CPA na sya ngayon! he chose adamson. *okay*

samantha_jones
Aug 17, 2005, 04:29 PM
^^Actually tumatanggap naman ng shifters ang ust (inter-campus lang eg. industrial engg to architecture) but you have to make a certain grade...pero masa masaya talaga if magaaral ka sa gusto mong school at sa gusto mong course...

Rant lang ako about my schoolmates since we're talking about exclusive girls schools...

I mean don't get it hinihintay nila akong linisan yun? Ewww kaya buti sana kung ako kumain. Diba I mean kung ayaw mo ipis you gotta try to keep the place clean! I mean ako I never thought na they'd be that gross and burara. I mean shempre ang aarte sa katawan at sa paligid but they cant clean up after themselve buti sana kung yung yaya nila tumitira din sa dorm! Buti na lang umalis na ako dun.

Share ko lang share din kayo! :D

Hi! Well, basically mga conyo ang mga tao diyan. Schools like Poveda and Assumption have "high" tuition fees eh. Pero kahit ganun pa man sila, they're all down-to-earth people. I have this friend nga, she's an Assumptionista, and she's so humble. Nakakaride siya sa mga "cheap" jokes ko. In addition, she wears simple clothes. Di niya kailangan pang ipamukha sa tao na she belongs to the elite. Ganun din ang mga kulasa! Smart din sila, he he he!!!

boring ang mga taga ICA.

Hmm... ako naman I think girls from ICA are the best! Down to earth and less malandi than those from the other schools mentioned. They're smarter, much more well-rounded, and fun to be with. Cowboy kasi mga to. Pag sila ang kasama, fun talaga kasi they are easy to please and they can laugh at themselves. Best friend ko nga from St. Paul, sabi nya gustung-gusto nya pag-aaralin sa ICA yung 2 daughters nya. Among all our classmates in college kasi, nakita nya na maganda daw ang training sa ICA. Angat ang personlaities compared sa ibang exclusive schools for girls. Baka lang daw di makaya ang Chinese. Hehe...

Nabalitaan ko some years ago na yung kindergarten s St. Paul Pasig is about Php 20,000. Which is like tuition fee na namin nung time na yun. I was like in 6th grade pa nito. And I'm working na now. So I dunno na kung how much na ang tution. I think sa graduating class it's like almost 40thou. Graaabe. Pero mas malupet parin sa College. When I graduated my tution fee for the sem was like 30 thou at 1 subject lang tinetake ko nun. Grabe! Nabaliw daw ako nun. Wawa naman parents ko kasi naisip isip ko pang ihiwalay ang thesis ko from the rest of the curriculum.

Totoo ba to? Parang ang mura naman yata. I think the tuition for kinder/prep in elite private schools cost a minimum of P50,000 nowadays. Kasi I have a close friend with a 5 year old daughter na nagrereklamo sa mahal ng tuition ngayon (she enrolled her daughter in DLSZ, where junior prep was 80,000 yata last year).

On topic: I think that its a misconception to call girls from exclusive schools as maarte. My college friends who came from exclusive schools is just as kikay as any other girl of college age, and not excessively vain or maarte as others want to portray them.

No seriously, I don't think updated yung P30,000 tuition for Kinder in Miriam. I swear, mahal na talaga magpa-aral ng prep at kinder ngayon. Miriam is a reputable private school, and sa palagay ko the tuition for each level won't be lower than P50,000. Of course, I'm just comparing this to the tuition in DLSZ, where my friend's daughter (my inaanak) is currently enrolled.

OK, back to topic...

the best preschools (e.g - Waldorf, Maria Montessori Children's School in Merville), I'm sure hindi bababa ng 50K. Expect arouand 80K for those schools. Pinaka expensive talaga ang preschool.

I studied at ASSUMPTION MAKATI and I also spent most of my school years at ST. PAUL-PARAÑAQUE. So here's my take...

1. ASSUMPTION MAKATI/ANTIPOLO - Indeed, Assumption brought out the best in me. It's true...most girls who study here are groomed to be powerful wives like Maricris Cardenas-Zobel, Sofia Zobel-Elizalde, Sandy Prieto-Romualdez, Liaa Cojuangco-Bautista, Lizette Banzon-Cojuangco, Baby Serrano-Araneta, Bettina Araneta-Aboitiz, Vicky Fernandez-Zubiri, Gina Africa-Aboitiz, etc...all these ladies graduated from Assumption. Furthermore, most students here are mestizas. They exude confidence which people see as smugness. They're also quite finicky when it comes to choosing their spouses...What can I say?...They just want the best and they deserve the best. :beam:

2. WOODROSE/POVEDA - Good schools. Same as Assumption. Most of my classmates in college came from Woodrose and Poveda and we get along well. Students here have really good breeding. Mestiza students also. :)

3. ICA GREENHILLS - The best chinese school for girls! The students here are the future business women and successful entrepreneurs in our country like Robina Gokongwei-Pe, Bernardine Siy, Marcia Gokongwei-Sy, Angeline Ng-Tan, Lisa Gokongwei-Cheng, Faith Gokongwei-Lim, etc...all successful alumnae of ICA. Very smart ladies. *okay*

4. ST. SCHO - The students here are just fine. I admire St. Scho for inculcating social awareness and responsibility in the students and encouraging the students to be cognizant in what's happening in our country and taking part in trying to improve the welfare of our fellowmen which is lacking in ASSUMPTION, POVEDA, WOODROSE, and ICA. Albeit the curriculum is deteriorating gradually, it's still a good school particularly in high school. The administration though should be more picky in choosing students especially in the college department. Too bad, I heard from the grapevine that students are engaging in girl to girl relationships. :confused2:

5. MIRIAM COLLEGE - Basically the same as St. Scho.

5. ST. PAUL - PARAÑAQUE - If I would be given the chance to choose a school when I was younger, I would definitely NOT choose St. Paul - Parañaque. Why? because I did not learn anything and the location is not that nice (it's very near the wet market). If St. Scho tolerates girl-to-girl relationships, St. Paul Parañaque encourages it. :yuck: I even know one female teacher who had a relationship with one student which is totally disgusting! :disgust: They even forced the senior high school students during my time to take that CAT/ACP Training which aggravated the perennial predicament of that school! The students here are extreme - it's either they're super flirt enough to be considered wh*res or they're veritable tomboys enough to be mistaken as MEN, or worse, they look like ruffians! I'm sorry for being so candid and I'm not trying to malign the school but that was what I experienced, saw, and felt.

I don't know for the other St. Paul Schools though but I heard that St. Paul Pasig is quite good in terms of academics and the location is nice.

6. STA. ISABEL/LA CONSOLACION/LA CONCORDIA/HOLY SPIRIT/etc... - I don't have ample knowledge about these schools so I better not comment. Sorry...

I hope that helps...so, parents out there, choose your childrens' schools wisely!
