I just started my apprenticeship program and in less than 2 years I am slated to start reviewing for the exams and hopefully pass. I have decided to study again my choices are (alot, I chose to make life a bit more complicated)

1. Take up another course...Sociology (AdMU, or UP).

2. Graduate School (Urban Planning, UP)

*Both choices eventually will lead to another year or so apprenticeship and then exams for Landscape Architecture Board.

3. Culinary School

Lalang confused lang ako. I used to have one choice lang dati but oppurtunities have come up. Life is continuing education...

What about putting what you're currently learning from your apprenticeship to use?

Why jump back to formal education?

Wala while I'm still young...I want to get all the knowledge I can. Plus I dunno...culinary school is inviting so is urban planning...since I'll be working my whole life after that...

thirdeye: planning to take up french...more like now...

That's another worthless knowledge you'll never use, like sociology. Take a look around you, do you see any french people around? You need someone to talk french with everyday to improve beyond the classroom.

Take up Mandarin or Japanese.

thirdeye: I am not asking your opinion on whether I should take up french or what. So what if I dont see any french around? It doesn't mean I wont be able to use it throughout my life, what if gusto ko pala tumira sa Paris? Or any french speaking country like Canada. Duh. I have friends who speak french so there are people I can talk to in french. I was merely asking about the three choices I had and when you said I should take up another language I was just telling you I plan to take up french.

And for your information sociology is not worthless when you plan to become a Landscape Architect. It is only worthless to people like you.

Yellow: Ah sorry I don't choose schools because I wanted to feel elite. This is for people who are insecure or are social climbers. And this is an opinion thread I was asking for opinions. And DLSU doesnt have a sociology or urban planning program (AdMU-sociology or UP-soiciology and urban planning) for that matter and I'd rather take up Culinary Arts at CCA. :D Although in a year's time it would be more convenient for me to go to DLSU. BUt if you have information on Sociology or Urban Planning in DLSU please let me know so I can have a look. Btw, I'd love to knock at Tomas Mapua's walls(DLSU Bldg.). :D

Learning doesn't stop anywhere. Whether you're old or young.

I learn something everyday, and I don't even have to go to school. I just read lots of books. Everything from management to finance to negotiation to cooking etc..

I just don't understand why you have to keep on staying in the class room? High School then straight to University then straight to a Post Grad degree etc..

What's the point? By the time you're in your mid-to-late 20s what'll you have? Just degrees and diplomas and no experience whatsoever. Get a job or start a business first. Then go to school later if you'll need more education.

My first ever job was working retail sales for one of the largest office supplies provider in the world. And I'm telling you that one day of interacting with customers and selling something is worth more than a 4 year diploma in marketing. And that's a fact.

Right now all I have is a high school diploma. I'm currently finishing a two year accounting diploma part-time. And I know a hell of a lot more about my chosen business, than most people in the same industry who have had over 4 or so years of formal post secondary education.

thirdeye: I am not going bonkers I just hate know it alls...

ShowMe: Yeah I know where you're getting at but when that time comes I might be too lazy to even consider going back to school. Oh yeah good for you though. :D Maybe I can learn to do both school and work. Since graduate school is almost part-time. But Culinary school is full time...hrrmm...thanks dude.
