View Full Version : Letran...magpakailanman?

Issues of padded construction contracts, senseless red tape in enforcing academic and administrative systems, mediocre planning efforts and unrealistic planning targets, ever increasing tuition fees and countless other fees, complaints on CBA violations, nursing classrooms bursting at the seams with more than 50 students at a time, neglected library facilities, irrational job grades and pay scales, poor quality research, etc...
These are just some of the realities (real or imagined) that compel us to ask questions, my friend.
But when the answers are rare and far between, misleading and worse, come in the guise of propaganda taking the place of truth, fiction taking the place of fact, and ultimately, when Letran Calamba's own website forum is suddenly closed down to suppress questions and dissent, then yes, my friend...THE STATE OF AFFAIRS BECOMES SADDER THAN A TELENOVELA! :grrr:

exxie_dude,
ah, so you're referring to letran-calamba, not to the manila campus.
anyway, try not to be too serious about the problems. as of now, you are not yet sure if these problems are real or imagined. calm down. don't do anything that you will regret later.
now, if you really think that the issues you mentioned are valid, then i suggest you approach the people from letran-calamba admin. i know that people like dr. odejar, dr. bobadilla, ms. almoro and mr. bella are level-headed people who will readily answer your questions.
easy ka lang, bro. maybe you ought to follow the advice of renestrauss2004 -- manood na lang muna tayo ng basketball. hey, these may be the letran-manila knights, but whatever letran campus you are from, you are certainly welcome to cheer. arriba!

Whether real or imagined, the silence on these issues are deafening, man. If everything is above board, I would expect that these questions should have been tackled head on by now. Instead, what we've got is the sudden closure of the Letran Calamba web site forum since management got wind of the threads on these issues. Low-tolerance threshold for critical discussions and legitimate dissent? You tell me, man!
Btw, with those admin peeps you mentioned, you seem to be, or once was, a letran calamba dude, bluemax! Welcome to our nightmare, buddy! Arriba!

exxie_dude,
i graduated from letran-manila high school in the 70s and taught at calamba for a few years in the 80s at the request of fr. apa, o.p. when i was there, ms. almoro had just started teaching accounting and mr. bella was one of the star professors in management. drs. bobadilla and odejar had not yet earned their doctorates, but were already part of the faculty.
in other words, bro, i know these people. they are open-minded and will readily explain to you what you need to know. i don't think their personalities will change just because of the change in positions.
basta huwag ka lang mawalan ng pag-asa. state your case and hope for the best. i'm sure you guys will be able to work something out. btw, nandiyan pa ba sina mr. marifosque at si mr. ferrer? mga ph.d na rin ba sila?
somos numero uno! arriba letran!

My hats off to you dude! Best way to face your fears/problems is to stare at it eye-to-eye. Problems facing the country is definitely way beyond your control but the ones there in LC-Calamba, maybe you can do something about.
Don't give up on them, mahal mo ang letran, mahal mo din ang Pinas kaya di ka nag-mah migrate...tulad ko hehehe! Again relax and when you're in Manila drop by to watch some live games, will surely make u proud! ARRIBA *okay*

bluemax,
Dr. Odejar is the incumbent VP Academics (ang given her top level post, she's not part of the solution so...well, u finish the sentence dude! :mecry: ) Dr. Bobadilla is still the dean of engineering, a real level headed, frank and fair admin...thank God! Dean Almoro heads the Commerce department and she is doing real well given the difficulties of the present situation. Mr. Bella resigned last year (too bad!) and joined the management group of a Makati call center, I was told. Mr. Marifosque and Prof. Ferrer are still around, helping us with our advocacies.
Keep in touch, fellow Knight! Arriba!!

Hmmmm...I HOPE ur wrong, YellowArcher. But hear this...Im from Letran Calamba and the latest buzz is that our much delayed new Central Library Building which will also house the Nursing department is the subject of a dispute (its been said that lawyers have even joined in) between the contractor and school administration. Looks like the admin claims the building is not completed according to specs, and the contractor says otherwise. Funny cuz this is the same contractor who, in the previous administration, constructed the high priced IT building, new pathwalks and the below standard Student Center building. How complicated can it be to have an approved construction contract and buildling blueprint faithfully observed, supervised and enforced? Especially for a school with a top-notch team of engineering faculty? Baka daw nawala na yun dating "overpricing" racket enjoyed during previous construction projects kaya binasta-basta na lang ang construction this time around?
Whatever it is, diba dapat di nangyari 'to kung magaling lang sana ang supervision ng school while the construction was ongoing? Todo promote sila ng new nursing course this is what we get! We are not getting our school fees worth! :grrr:

Kayo, ano tingin nyo? :hmm:
