Where was that thread from last year, when UP won FINEX and the usual sour-grapers from across the street started rattling off how Ateneo's niche wasn't finance but marketing... :D

There is an article about this in the UP CBA website which I am posting here:

UPCBA Marketing Students Win PMA StratMark Competition

The UPCBA Marketing Team won the championship in the 2nd Strategic Marketing Competition of the Philippine Marketing Association, Inc. (PMA) at the Araneta Coliseum last July 29, 2005 before a crowd of about 8,000. The members of the team are Cecilene Belinda P. Aragon, Arjaenelle T. Caro, Ma. Christina D. Carnay, Maria Margarita Antonette T. Castillo, Ma. Dalisay R. King, Jonnah E. Lacanilao, Ma. Regina A. Melendres and Shiela Marie M. Villanueva.

Stratmark Competition is a nationwide competition of all member schools of the Association of Marketing Educators (AME) and Philippine Junior Marketing Association (PJMA). The UPCBA team bested 31 other schools and universities nationwide. Ateneo de Manila and De La Salle Dasmariņas placed second and third respectively.

Congratulations to the winners and to all contestants. I'm sure this is an achievement for all of you.

But I have some questions, and I hope no one takes them the wrong way. Is this competition a spectator sport? Why is there such a large audience? Is anything worth watching there?

If I'm not mistaken, 38 or 32 schools all over the country joined the competition during the first round but only 5 schools qualify for the finals. These schools are the following: UP Diliman, Ateneo de Manila, FEU, PUP Manila and a schools somewhere in the Visayas. But during the day of the competition, DLSU-Dasmarinas was already in the competition also. Anyway, there's a rumor spreading that day why DLSU-Dasma was already in the contest but that's a different story.

To blue_asteroid24: UP Diliman was TEAM SACHI

To camerlengo: DLSU Manila didn't qualify for the final round. Based from what I heard, they ranked 20+....

To mark_mark: UST didn't also qualify for the finals...

Peace to all!....If there's any mistake with my post kindly correct na lang...

is dlsu's performance here an indication of the coming FINEX competitions?

UP could ran away with the FINEX just like last year

Kuya Danny, since it's a marketing competition the teams go all out in their presentations to sell their idea - so you can expect to see anything from a multimedia flash presentation to ready-for-broadcast TV ads featuring celebrities. I think the UPD team even had Toni Gonzaga. So it's definitely entertaining for the spectators, sort of like watching those advertising awards ceremonies. :D

UST didn't also qualify for the finals...

From what I heard, PUP and UST tied for the last slot for the finals during the preliminaries but the PMA made the favor to PUP in which, by the way, they had the most number of participants in the seminar prior to the competition.

There were rumors in the UST College of Commerce's JCBA that they intend to boycott next year's Strat Mark.

if UST tied the last spot with PUP, then they must be at the finals also. DLSU-Dasma ang 6th po....kaya impossible na tie ang PUP at UST sa 5th....4th po PUP sa first round...

Congratulations to the winning team. I did not even know that one of my relatives (cousin) was in the team until she showed me the pictures of her team. Good teamwork and personalities (in addition to ideas) usually win this kind of contests.
