Hahaha! it's you who don't understand my point. It's not wether ELJ is owned by abs-cbn or by meralco. My point is they are all owned by the Lopezes. Get my point? That's waht I'm trying to emphasize.
As for the awards, hahaha. They are useful only to you for display and boasting. They are worthless to the common people, esp. the majority of the Metro Manilans. They don't mean a thing to them. They cannot buy foods for their families with them. They cannot send their children to school with them. They cannot buy medicines and avail of hospitalization with them. I could go on ad nauseam and still those awards will not add anything good or ease the burden of the common people. In short, they are nothing, nada, zilch, zero as far as the people are concerned. So, don't mesmerize me with those awards. They only emphasize your fallacy or lack of something to validate your importance in the community. Just hide them, please.
Now, let's talk about the billions of pesos that your meralco have siphoned off from the blood, sweat and tears of these people for a number of years and for which the Supreme Court found you out to have illegally and deliberately done and so you were ordered to return them to the people. Hmm, those acts won't merit awards don't you think? :D :rotflmao:

Just because an item is in your Meralco Bill, doesn't mean it goes to Meralco.
The fact is, only 20% of your total bill payment goes to Meralco. The rest covers pass-through charges which Meralco collects on behalf of power suppliers, the National Transmission Company, the government and other entities involved in bringing electricity into your home.
This way, you only have one bill to pay. Meralco ensures that your payment gets to these groups, and power gets to you.
Q. What is unbundling?
Unbundling is simply the identification of the individual charges, whether generation charges or transmission charges or government charges.
Q. Is unbundling favorable for me?
Yes it is. Imagine having NAPOCOR, the Government and other companies coming to your door and asking for payment individually. MERALCO makes billing simple. You just pay one bill for everything.
Q. When did this start?
Unbundling was initiated in May 30, 2003 as prescribed by the Energy Regulatory Commission, and was implemented immediately, beginning with June 2003 billing cycle
Unbundling the bill
The longer, itemized bill you see these days complete with all these details or pass through charges is called the "unbundled" bill. Created in compliance with Section 36 of Republic Act 9136, this itemizing of your bill according to cost and function makes it easy to see exactly who you are paying and what you are paying for.
Pass Through Charges
These are the parts of the bill that are non-Meralco in nature. instead, they go straight to government, power suppliers and other service providers.
Generation Charge
Paid to power suppliers such as the National Power Corporation (NPC), as well as Independent Power Producers (IPPs), for the electricity they generate, which Meralco distributes.
Transmission Charge
Paid to The National Transmission Company or TransCo, this fee is for delivery of electricity from generators, normally in remote areas or provinces to Meralco's distribution system.
System Loss Charge
Set at a maximum of 9.5% in accordance with Republic Act 7832, this is allowed for the recovery of lost power.
Franchise Tax
Required by government, 2% of this amount goes to the national government as local national franchise tax, while a range of 0.05% to0.75% of the gross is paid to local government units.
Universal Charge
This is remitted to the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation (PSALM), a company owned and controlled by government, created by Republic Act 9136. Part of this is in your bill as missionary electrification and environmental charges.
Lifeline Subsidy
Amounting to P 0.0761 per kWh, this is paid by all customers consuming 101 kWh and up, and used to fund the Lifeline Discount.
Lifeline Discount
The EPIRA (Section 73) provides that residential customers consuming less than 100 kWh in a given month will enjoy a Lifeline Discount on generation, transmission, distribution, supply, metering and system loss charges at these percentages:
Using 50 kWh and below will get 50% discount
Using 71 to 100 kWh will get a 20% discount
Interclass Subsidy
The unbundled rates also identify subsidies being enjoyed or provided by the various customer categories of Meralco. All residential customers will enjoy a subsidy of P0.7130 per kWh consumed. This subsidy will be funded by a charge to be paid by commercial and industrial establishments.
Meralco Charges
Distribution Charge
This pays the cost of building, operating and maintaining the distribution system of Meralco, which brings power from high-voltage transmission grids, to commercial and industrial establishments, to residential end-users.
Metering Charge
This includes the cost of reading, and operating and maintaining power metering facilities.
Supply Charge
This includes the cost of rendering service to customers, such as billing, collection, customer assistance and associated services.
Currency Exchange Rate Adjustment
This covers adjustments for unavoidable fluctuations in the Philippine Peso-U.S. Dollar exchange rate

MERALCO FOUNDATION :D
Industrial Technician Program (ITP)
Meralco Foundation, Inc.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From its inception as a pure science foundation, MFI pursued its vision to devote time, effort and energy for the cause of the disadvantaged in our society. MFI in the early eighties began to flow back some benefits to the public in the form of science projects and manpower development programs. Notable among these early foundation ventures was the Industrial Technician Program (ITP), which grew and developed as the flagship project of MFI. Specifically, ITP offers a three-year course to train and graduate industrial technicians along the various lines of technical expertise.
The ITP is a 3-year non-degree, post-secondary course designed particularly to develop a technical workforce to meet the growing industry demands in the technology areas of electrical, electronics, instrumentation, and tool & die technology. The ITP carries a special significance particularly because of its social development value. MFI spared no time and effort in developing the ITP into the leading technical and education program that it has become with well-designed syllabi, adequate equipment and training modules acquired via grants assistance from supportive countries and their expert consultants. An important feature of the ITP is its strong Guidance Program that complements the graduates who possess the necessary technical knowledge and skills and strong positive work values. All these, plus a well-trained faculty, have made the Meralco Foundation Institute, official venue for the ITP, as a leading technician school. Industrial companies have learned to recognize this, as shown by their participative experience in providing the on-the-job training venue for ITP would-be graduates, which often leads to their eventual hiring. The ITP provides scholarship privileges to poor but deserving students, truly, a case of helping the disadvantaged in our society. It also provides technical assistance and guidance to industries, schools, government agencies, and in the training of out-of-school youth.

- My reply to above:
- So, you're trying to lecture me about the unbundling of this meralco bill payment huh. Hmm, to tell you frankly: Don't tell me meralco would enter into
a unilateral agreement with independent power producers and the like without being assured of a considerable profit-margin in the process of collecting from the consumers? What are you, a martyr? It's a common business sense to make a profit. But for how much, fairly? We are not born yesterday. This is what Sen. Enrile and colleagues were trying to investigate during the senate inquiry - the unwanted hidden costs that the consumers bear out of these onerous and dubious transactions. So, as for me, this is what I have to say: Go! Tell that to the marines! :D
- Now, we veering away from main discussion. What I have been referring to was the particular case that has already been decided and adjudicated for which you have been found guilty of overcharging the meralco consumers. Are you telling me the Supreme Court ruling is wrong ? Hmm, I rest my case and I won't bother to answer you anymore. Avisala! oops my mistake. :D :rotflmao:
