I just enrolled my daughter at Action Kidz. She attends AK's toddler class, morning sessions (MWF, 930-11-30am). She just started this week actually and so far, i'm happy naman with what i've observed.

Btw, Action Kidz is located at the 4/f of the discovery suites, right across the Podium.

Hi does anyone know a good preschool that is not as expensive (lower than P50k per year) for my 2 year old in the little baguio and san juan area? Preferably small teacher-student ratio, with school bus service and good teachers that speak good English?

Good preschools in the Ortigas area? The best in my opinion would be Montessori inside White Plains subdivision. The price is also the "best" too. Tuition is almost double the other pre schools.

Another good choice would be CCE inside Corinthians Subdivision. I can't remember where it is but I'm sure the guards would know.

There's TLC in San Juan. I'm not sure if it's expensive compared to the other pre schools but it's on a road parallel to Mabini Street. (near that public school-actually it's behind that public school)

Hi there. My child is only 5 months old but I plan to put him at Montessori in White Plains. Would you have an idea as to how much is their tuition fee.

You can also try CTEC (Children's Talent Education Center) on Connecticut St. in Greenhills East. It's run by the same people who own the music school in the compound.

If I'm not mistaken, you can get a whole schoolyear's worth for around P60K, maybe lower.

My daughter started when she was less than 2 years old. She's 2 years and 5 months and she's developed her speech and socializing skills very well.

For her class, there are 5 kids including her, and there's a teacher and one teacher's aid.

The best place is for him is at home with his mom and dad. A child's first teacher is always his parents. In this way, child can bond with parents.

I have a 2 year old kid. He is 1 yr 10 months when he started going to toddler class. Ideally, it is best for him to stay home with me but it is impossible nowadays specially if both parents are working and the kid would have to stay with the yaya who just watch every telenovela, chinovela at home. This is also the reason why I opted to enroll him. At first, I also thought he is too young but it turns out my kid liked it a lot. Anyway, its not that they are sitting in front of the blackboard. What they do is to play, sing, dance, watches video of barney or dora once a week, storytelling and they are being taught of practical living e.g brushing their teeth, washing hands, eating alone, putting away things and most specially interact with their fellow kids. Anyway, its just 3 hours a day.

So JamieG, go for it. I would'nt recommend any school since I am not from the metro but a few tips on choosing toddler class.

1. Ratio of teacher to pupils. The fewer the better...So they could pay attention to your child.

2. School should be near to your home..Too much traveling everyday would just exhaust the kid and would be prone to tantrums.

3. Ask for a sit- in one of their class. Just so you can have a feel of what they are doing inside the classroom and if your child is enjoying.

4. Avoid mixed age class. Some class ranges from 2- 4 years. I highly discourage this especially if the kid tends to be young. There would be a tendency for your child to be bullied by older kids EVEN with teacher supervision.

I guess kung wala ngang kasama si baby kundi yaya na nakababad lang sa tv maghapon, it does make sense to send your toddler to school. This way, he could also socialize with kids his age. I live with my parents kasi and my son also has his cousins to play with so ok lang.

we sent our son to explorations preschool (7244271) when he was 2.3 only because he didn't have any playmates at all. loved it! so did he. he's already five and will be moving on to a big school this year.

jamieG, first off, I’d like to commend you for deciding to put your kid early in school. having them in school early doesn’t mean naman that were forcing them right away to learn the academics. it’s a way to improve our kids’ socialization skills din naman.

Like michelle005, we also decided to enrol my 2.9 old son in preschool na, pero sa playgroup lang muna. it’s the best option we thought since we lost my son’s yaya for a while. Now that the yaya’s with us again, we still continue with our son going to school. and being there for almost a month now, we have seen so many improvements in his socialization skills.

As to aiming for the BEST preschool, I believe there is no such thing. Great facilities, secured environment, low teacher-student ratio are just some of the important considerations. What’s important is you choose a school that’s “most-suited” for your child. I read in the Baby/Parent’s Center about the top preschool philosophies/programs, you may want to check it out here (http://parentcenter.babycenter.com/preschooler/ppreschool/index#pchooseschoolBkmk). Go check it out if you’re interested.

My son is enrolled in a child-centered preschool, (or the bank street preschool program as classified by the Baby Center article). In case you are interested, please check the school’s website here: Sacred Heart School (http://www.sacredheartschool.com.ph/). We are considering enrolling him in the same school in june, in the nursery level na, though we have some hesitations due to some tales of teacher favouritism. Kaya medyo we are also looking for other school options.

And as for the price, for the playgroup, it’s P200 per day. My son is going to this school every Tuesdays and Thursdays lang muna. His MWFs are spent at home. If you decide to enrol your son naman in a class, naku hold your breath, medyo pricey, its about P80,000.

Good luck sa schooling ng son mo jamieG!

There is The Learning Connection (TLC) in the San Juan Area, my friend teaches there.
Toddlers Unlimited Learning Center have branches in Makati and Festival Mall Alabang (that's where I teach). We cater to 1.5 to 5 year old children, class hours range from 1 1/2 to 3 hours a day, depending on the age. Our number is 8504064. My boss, Teacher Gila is willing to give you a tour of the school, for those who live in the area and are interested :)

keechay, the following information on schools are from my friend Aloi. like you, i'm also on the hunt for a suitable preschool for my son. hope these info helps...

1. Community of Learners (tels: 7210987, 7263431, #1 Castilla Street, Valencia, Quezon City)
Here's the contact info for Dui's school. They start as early as 2 years old (and have HS too) and are in Greenhills. They started out as an experimental school - their teachers are mostly grads of UP. They are also highly recommended for those kids with learning disabilities, and special kids. They have a school bus service too, so that lessens one problem!

They dont have an entrance exam, they merely have an "assessment" to find out what age group he belongs in. But slots go fast, so call ASAP. I;ve alreday reserved for Dui's upcoming year, because they have a list of those who want to enroll.

Pay them a visit, take a look around, and ask as many questions as you like. They got me bec they were so open. At relaxed ang environment. Wala pang school uniform :)

2. Kalinga Day Care
In QC, you can try Kalinga Day Care - pero day care nga ito. They have tons of activities and very non-formal. Ok ito for Nico's age, Dui stayed her til she was too old for it ... then she transferred to COL.

Velasquez St., UP Campus
Diliman, Quezon City (across College of Science)
Tel. Nos. 9818500 loc. 3815

3. Piagetian Educational Center
I only talked to someone on the phone for this. They looked promising when I was looking.

thank you sa lahat ng nag reply. im contemplating to send my daughter in a newly built preschool near our place. its called "little president learning center" and its near st. jude catholic school. they offer multiple intelligence curriculum. pero ok kaya yun to think na bagong tayo lang ***, wala pa clang nabui build na reputation. what do u think?

Mar 9, 2007, 10:16 PM
as regards to enrolling your child to a newly built preschool, maybe you can ask if they will allow you to try them out for a week then make a surprise visit at least once. the enrollment for preschool/toddler groups in some schools is open throughout the year since the curriculum isn't as rigid as gradeschool and up. so if you're not satisfied, you can just try another preschool. one advantage of patronizing a new preschool is having some perks that established preschools may not offer so try asking them (maybe free school bus service, etc). you can also bring your child to the school before the actual trial and check if she "likes" the place.

In case your interested, you can homeschool him muna. You only need 2 to 3 hours with him to teach him the basic lessons. Try this link. It has interesting lesson plans you can use.

I also want to send my son to preschool but since I'm home most of the time, I might as well be the one to teach him. Anyway, he goes with me as much as possible so he gets to interact with different people.

But if you do decide to send him to a preschool, I would recommend The Little Gym, at the Fort. They are very good with children. They are never forceful. They are nurturing, patient, creative and loving.

There's a pre-school in Multinational Village in Parañaque called Little Archers. I know the owners and several teachers. They have a good curriculum for toddlers. What's also good about that school is they have multilingual teachers and a low student-teacher ratio. Pretty well maintained pa ang facilities and bago ang mga materials. They can be reached at 823 2390.

Thanks.

keechay and PEx parents on the hunt for suitable preschools, we can find this link useful in choosing a preschool for our kid/s: DepEd Standards for Preschools (http://www.deped.gov.ph/cpanel/uploads/issuanceImg/DO%20No.%20107%20s%201989.pdf)

aside from the standards that a preschool should have, it also enumerates the general competencies that preschoolers should obtain as a pre requisite before entering elementary/primary school (see pages 11-13).

Hi,

If you're near the Pasig/Libis area, you might want to try out Tumble Tots. We're located inside Eastwood City. Our curriculum is progressive.

We have programs for children 6 months to 6 years old. For infants and toddlers, we have active play/gym classes which are parent-child classes. Aside from the actual gym time, there's Circle Time with songs, rhymes, massage and developmental exercises plus there's a mini art activity for the toddlers.

We also have toddler and preschool classes for children 1.5 years old and above. The toddlers meet 3x a week, for two hours. The program also includes the active play/gym time. We have small class sizes.

We'd love for you to visit us so you can see our facilities, meet our teachers and learn more about our program. Please feel free to email tumbletots.edu@gmail.com if you would like a copy of our brochure. You can also contact us through 6876793 or 6876375.

keechay, sorry for replying a bit late, was able to log in PEX only now.

the exact tuition at explorations is 76,100/year for nursery (3.5 to 4.5 years old), that's excluding pa ang uniforms which costs P500/set.

you can pay naman on a semestral/quarterly basis para mas maagan sa budget.

im just wondering where Explorations is located? any schools around cubao qc area you can recommend? im also planning to enrol my baby at around 2.5

hello moonster: as to your first question, explorations is located in brgy. addition hills along boundary of mandaluyong and san juan (if im not mistaken).

there are a lot of good preschools in quezon city, especially along the loyola heights area. i heard that family montessori is a good school as well as multiple intelligence. u need to check na lang the website of the department of education and check from there the list of schools in quezon city. good luck in your school hunt.

wow! ganun pala kamahal magpa-aral sa mga pre-schools ngayon. kailangan ko na palang mag-ipon ng pang-tuition ngayon pa lang.
my daughter is turning 2 this june but since i'm a stay-at-home mom i am able to teach her, watch educational videos with her and play with her.
tanong ko na nga rin po pala: is preschool a requirement nowadays? bago sya makapasok ng grade 1?

wow talaga? i like! :D inclusive na ba to sa books? pwede ba installment? 50k pang ano to? nursery? ilang hours/wk.. kwento po :)

hi moonster, yes included na lahat ng materials except for uniforms, which cost 2.5k. installment oo, nag 2 payments ako. Kinder, 3 hours.
Tapos ni-review pa nila yung anak ko para sa entrance exams nya sa ateneo for prep.
Claret School sa Teacher's Village ok din, around 30k lang. Yung nephew ko dun nag pre-school, prep ngayon sa ateneo.

tau_rean_mum, preschool is not YET a formal requirement for entering into elementary school. but because elementary schools require Grade 1-to-be students to be able to read and write already, it now makes it somewhat a requisite na din for children to enter preschool. DepEd's guidelines can be read here (http://www.deped.gov.ph/cpanel/uploads/issuanceImg/DO%20No.%20107%20s%201989.pdf):

agree with you, ang mahal talaga magpa-aral ngayon.

good to know that you're teaching your daughter already at a very young age.

Hello everyone!

May alam ba kayong excellent preschool sa marikina city or near marikina city?

My niece is turning 3 this july and we are planning to enroll her sa isang good preschool. My sister [her mother] is considering Children's House International. Pero I told her that we should widen our options.

So, ano ba ang good preschools na mairerecommend ninyo. And can you describe the environment there and the tuition?

Thanks! We really need help.:)

You can try La Escuela de Sto. Nino Hesus, I'm not sure if I get this right, it's the school almost besides Jollibee Mkna. Heights.

It's been an institution there already, graduates there easily pass reputable big schools such as Ateneo, Miriam etc.

there's this community daycare center that used to get its funding from batibot. the tuition fee's really cheap at 500/month but they have great and dedicated teachers. they can teach kids as young as 2yrs old to read. they even help special kids cope with various learning disabilities. you can reach them at 9403254 for inquiries.

hello guys! just want to UP this thread. Im thinking of putting my son who is now 15 months to a play/pre school. we are living in project 8 quezon city.

any feedback from gymboree? theres one kasi here in trinoma, had made inquiry this afternoon and i think okay naman sya, i wanted my son to made a try out first since he is very young. i guess, ideally, i dont want muna yung one year school plan at his age so im planning to put him a gymboree type of class where we can do one month and if he likes it, we can extend. But then, need your feedback on this type of center... and any advise/ideas will be highly appreciated.

thanks in advance mommies!

sexylady: that's a good idea! it's like weaning your son towards a more "formal" pre-school environment kahit di naman formal talaga yung preschool. hehe. but it's a good place to start. nakita ko yung segment ng isang show sa abs, i forgot lang kung ano, but they showed yung toddler program nga ng gymboree, and i think it's really a good start. update me ha. if ever we don't migrate,i want to enroll my daughter in gymboree next year too.

will surely give feedback once we started. thanks for your reply.

sa mga private schools, mostly talaga kelangan dumaan sa pre-school. like st jude catholic school for example, i went through 3 years of pre-school not including a year in nursery before grade 1. that's where i studied and where i want my daughter to study kaya i already expect na kelangan ko sya i-enroll sa nursery bago sya makakapasok sa pre-school ng st jude. medyo mataas ang standards kaya ganun.

Hi Everyone!

In relation to best toddler and pre-schools, what preschool would you recommend to prepare my little boy for Ateneo? 4 years old daw, entrance exam na for Prep. My boy is currently going to school at Mother Goose Plaskool in Marikina and method of teaching is montessori - piagetian. For 1st time schooling, ok daw ito. But next year suggestion ng mga friends ko, we should transfer him to a traditional school to prepare my little boy for the "big school". I'm having 2nd thoughts din kase another adjustment ito for him. So I'd like to find out if moving to another school is worth it. Any suggestions?

Thanks!!!

hi lucious, i'm also at this same stage as you, trying to find the best school for my toddler. In my opinion, its better to stay with MG playskul until your son is ready to move to Ateneo. It will be tough to move from MG to another school then, after a year, move again to Ateneo. I think Ok naman ang MG. We are planning to enroll our daughter sa GCF next year . . pre-school and hopefully, all the way to kinder, primary and secondary levels na

Your friends are right. Better to prepare now instead of him struggling in his 1st year at Ateneo. There's a good traditional school there in Marikina, La Escuela del Nino Jesus. Its along Bayan Bayanan going to Marikina Heights. Almost all who graduated from there passed Ateneo.

Entrance exams for Ateneo Prep are given to 5-year-olds not 4, with December 16 as cut-off date. So, this year's exams for Prep School Year 2008-2009 are given to boys born between December 16, 2001 to December 15, 2002.

Anyway, its just 3 hours a day.

i like the idea. 2mos pa lang ang baby ko pero naimagine ko na pag 2years old na sya at yun pa rin ang yaya nya. baka walang matutunan si baby sa yaya lalo na yung mga yaya nowadays (especially our yaya) ay sobrang addict sa TV.

hope i could find a school such as tumbe tots and prep camp in our area :)

We enrolled our son first in Creative Beginners in Greenmeadows avenue. After he's done with the last level, he was still underage to take the Ateneo entrance exam. Instead of us having him repeat for another year, we enrolled him in Miriam College-CSC just to pass the year. Miriam-CSC turned out to be a good transition school for our son. All of my son's classmates who were boys also made it to Ateneo.

i've also looked for that on the net before and so far walang available data for grade schools. i even checked out the pdi's archives for neat and nsat results which was once published in print sometime in '96 or 97. and as fas as i recall, ahs (ateneo) and pshs (pisay) top that list of best performing private and public secondary schools respectively.

Am also looking for a "big school" for my son. He's turning 5 years old this Dec 25. Ateneo wouldn't let him take the exam for prep because he didn't reach the cut-off date of Dec 16. I don't understand their strictness with this. Sana man lang they let him take the exam then that's the time they decide. I believe age is not the only measurement of a child's readiness to enter a big school.

Anyway, am now leaning more towards enrolling my son in a non-traditional school. Do you guys have any feedback on multiple intelligence international school?

ms.ambon
Nov 7, 2007, 03:48 PM
hi lani31 - i was also considering a non-traditional school for my daughter who will be grade1 this school year, how about OB montessori, check their website: http://www.obmontessori.edu.ph/

also, it would also be nice to have our kids be taught by a teacher who has a phd. as for the international schools, but tuition fees here are sky high, there's southville international school here in las pinas, for grade 1, it's 107k, Brent & IS are in USD.. sa thread na academe may mga forums na nag ta-tackle ng mga tuition fees nila but u can always check out the websites.

good luck to us & hope we can find the best school for our kids and fair enough to our pockets :)

thanks, ms ambon! Initially I was considering OB Montessori since it's near our place plus coed pa sya. I guess it's still worth checking it out...

NS Montessori inside BF Homes QC. They actually have a 100% passing rate to Ateneo/Claret/Holy Spirit/Miriam. They've been in operation for 28 years.

Me and all my siblings went to that preschool. I would vouch for the program because I went there myself and they teach early reading and early math. They also have a lot of graduates who earned honors in elementary school and later on went to Phil. Science (my sister and brother included).

Hello,

Buhayin ko lang tong thread na to. Any suggestions on good pre-schools in Better Living Area and Sun Valley. I would like to know if you have any feedback on STI Preschool in Marimar Village. I am torn between enrolling my daughter in Playschool International or STI Pre school.

Pag nag Playschool Intl sya, she will only stay there for 1 year lang because Kinder na sya this coming school year. If I will enroll her sa STI she can stay there until Grade 6. I am not really aware if STI is a good school or not so any feedback from the said schools will really be a big help for me.

hello po...about public schools, in a financial management seminar i attended, they suggested public education din...mentioned makati public schools in particular. positive naman ang feedback nila dun (can't remember which one though). in other words, quality din daw. make sense to me, kasi mukhang may budget naman talaga makati city for their constituents (but of course you have to check it out yourself).

grabeh mahal talaga mag-aral ngayon, from prep to college. kaya i am really considering public education, di hamak na mas mura and in fairness, there are public schools na talagang quality & some even excel pa.

i have a 4 yo child who is currently attending cambridge cdc near us. as per my child's experience this is a very good progressive school. she started attending their class last feb pa but she had to leave cambridge this june for big school. she made the cut off age and really did well in both entrance exam/interview but after 2 weeks of attending classes in her new school i decided to send her back to cambridge because i feel that she's better off in a less stressful environment. much as i want her to have a good foundation in school i believe there are many ways to raise a smart kid without subjecting a child to unnecessary stress coz i'm afraid that might affect her perspective about learning later on in life. for now i just want her to learn the love for learning. now that she's back in cambridge, i have no regrets coz i can see that she's really happy which i think is more important than the slot she left. i also like the fact that she loves her teachers so much. she knows her teachers/school staffs and classmates/friends by name. she tells me what transpires in class without me asking. she gets to appreciate another language through songs. she looks forward being in school more so get involved in project based activities with the resource persons. the teachers are very hands-on to each student which i think this is very effective since they have a low student-teacher ratio. in their n2 class alone, there were only about 10 students with 2 teachers. on the contrary, during my child's first day in the big school which she recently attended i had the chance to sit in the class and i noticed how difficult for these young kids to remain seated for long hours, they simply get bored which is also another reason why i got disappointed coz it's a very good traditional school but having a student-ratio of around 30:2, having students that much, i wonder how the stressed teachers manage to attend to each child's learning needs. that's why i believe that if homeschooling is not an option, yet. a low student-teacher ratio is another significant factor to look for in a good preschool especially for very young learners.

Thank you so much for your reply. Appreciate it!

My son will be in toddler's class if we start him here. He is currently attending such class but in a different preschool and sad to say puro play lang..no structure..no activities... I have seen cambridge and will get a schedule for my sons trial class soon. :)

There is a good preschool in San Juan named BEST Child International School.
They have a program named iBest which focuses in Early Reading and Writing.

My 3-yr old son learned in a jiffy.

It is located in 185 CM Recto St cor Aras St, San Juan. It is near Cafe Ysabel in P Guevarra St.

I know that they accept enrollees for this all-year round. You may inquire at 0917-6109712.

B.E.S.T. Child Inernational School is a very good school located in San Juan.

They have this iBest program which specializes in Early Reading and Writing. They still accept enrollees all year round. I believe they accept kids with Reading and Writing problems.

My 3yr old son can now read sentences.

They are located in 185 CM Recto cor. Aras, San Juan and can be reached at 0917-6109712.

marist seems like a good school naman. my husband and brother in law studied there from elementary to high school. so did their childhood friends and lahat naman sila matatalino and have gone to good universities and college after. yung mga pamangkin rin nila are in marist right now. my sister in law says its still good yun nga lang recently there was an issue about a teacher harassing a student. and of course, mahal na rin tuition.:D

My daughter studies in S.K.I.L.L.S in san juan near SM centerpoint lang , so far ok naman yung curriculum and advanced sila from other schools. Specialized talaga sila sa pag handle ng mga special child, kids with speech deficiency etc. New school pa lang and they just started this year so max 10 per class nga lang sometimes 5 lang for elementary and high school. Their tuition rate is affordable naman around 30-50k depende sa level and if special child yung bata , kasi 1:1 sila pag ganung case...

anong harassment?
my gosh.

Not sure of the details eh. Last year nangyari yon. I think a PE teacher was involved and nabanggit rin yung incident sa isang public interest show sa gma. When I asked my sis in law what happened to the case after, she said that the PTA really tried to push for the school board to do something about it. Pero sagot lang daw sa kanila, ok na since di na uli pumasok yung teacher na yon. Kaya medyo nainis din yung sis in law ko kasi for something as serious as the issue, parang apathetic yung naging stand ng board. Since I haven't heard anything about the incident after talking to her, I guess it just died a natural death... hehehe

Pero yun nga lang, medyo nakakabahala for parents. Maybe you can ask the school if you decide to go check out their curriculum and all. See what they have to say about it.

As of summer '08, iBest Reading and Writing Program fees are as follows (from an old flyer):

P 1750 / 6 hrs (4 sessions - once a week)
P 3500 / 12 hrs (8 sessions - twice a week)
P 5250 / 18 hrs (12 sessions - thrice a week)

All 1.5 hrs/session. It is a 1 month program.

Hello. The last time I posted here was probably 2 years ago & deciding where to enroll our little boy.

Yep we finally enrolled him in MotherGoose Playskool. PreCasa 2, now he's Jr Casa. I guess the reason for choosing this montessori was for our son to get acquainted with the school routine & the concept of schooling. Para di naman ma stress at an early age since 3 yrs old palang sya when he started.

We're planning to move him now to a school that would prepare him for the big school. We have shortlisted our choices to 1. Pediamorphosis or Pedia House and 2. Miriam-CSC (child study center). We've heard a lot of good feedback abt Pediamorphosis. We visited kanina & though that it was homey & would probably help in the transition. But we haven't heard much about CSC. Of course, Miriam sya, great facilities & all. We got feedback lang na hindi sulit for P75K. The preparation for events like their Marian play will eat up most of their study time. Anybody here who can give us more feedback on CSC? Big school environment sana. But will it provide focus on the child's development and transition to big school?

Would appreciate your inputs... Thank you!!!

My daughter goes to ABS-CBN Children's Center in Quezon City. ABS-CBN Children's Center is an excellent school. the teacher's are hands-on and very nurturing. the curriculum is superior as well. children from the center are accepted into the big schools like Ateneo, LaSalle, etc.

in case you didn't know, the school accepts outsiders, and not just kids of employees of the network and its sister companies. class size is a great 1:12 (1:15 at most), and is from nursery to the 6th grade. if you are scouting for a great hands-on, holistic school, this is the place for you!

here is a link to an ABS-CBN Foundation, Inc. article about the school: ABS-CBN CHILDREN'S CENTER (http://www.abs-cbnfoundation.com/mainnews.php?article=33)

for inquiries, you may visit the school at #12 Scout Borromeo Street, Bgy. South Triangle, Quezon City or call Maricar Estole at (632) 374.5150 or (632) 410.1066.

Hi lucious!

How much tuition sa Pediamorphosis? Do they have a Traditional curriculum? I am considering to send my 3 1/2 year old son there but I'm concerned about the driving distance. The school is about 30 mins away depending on traffic.
My husband wants to enroll him somewhere nearer, I want that too except that I don't know any good pre-schools in Tandang Sora.

I myself am confused as to where to enroll my son. I've been doing the rounds of preschools within San Juan-Mandaluyong area. So far to me, Explorations is the best. My only concern is that only the afternoon classes are available which means foregoing of my son's daily afternoon nap. I am planning my son to move on to Ateneo for prep. Any recommendations on preschools within San Juan-Mandaluyong area to help my son prepare for Ateneo.
Re: schools in San Juan, within the affordable bracket are the ff: Milestone (58k), DML in New Mla (60k), Community of Learners in Valencia (48k). FYI, see annual tuition fee of the other preschools: TLC (80k), CCE in Corinthians (90k), Explorations (96k), Alphabet House (70K), CTEC Greenhills (78k), Caterpillar (65k), Kids World (65k)

Hi Sweety_Paige, thanks for the recommendation, we saw na Eton super mahal naman, gusto ko sana yung makakaipon pa ako para sa big school na sya for prep,

for anyone from manila vito cruz heres where my searching brought me to:
St. lucy integrated school- 30k not aircon rooms, 18 students 2 teachers
Green allon - 33k ++ not yet recognized by decs so im still thinking pa if ok ba tong school n to, although inviting yung theater group nila every friday.
Beginners camp - 34k++ pretty expensive for a garage type of school, saka yung play area sa loob rin ng classroom, pero nice kase 10 students lang per class, so matututukan daw talaga ang bata

as of now closed na lahat ng morning classes nila closed na, open nalang is afternoon, nap time naman ng anak ko yun

may marerecomend pa ba kayo mommies? :)

Hi Mommy! This is Mommy Portia. Maybe you can check JDSC their number is 922-0020. It's along congressional ave and mindanao ave. They have good teachers there. The assistant directress is Ms. Rochelle Razo. She placed no. 2 among the 23t who took the exam for LET. It is a progressive school. Children learn by doing things on their own. My kids used to study at the coop of Brent in IRRI, Los Banos. When we transferred to QC I enrolled my children there and they have developed our children through the years. In fact, the last time we went to sydney last year and visited a museum there-- you will be impressed that my 4-year old son together with my 6-year old daughter can pronounce and identify almost all the dinosaurs there. An aussie said " very clever".

Another thing, the school focuses on educational field trips. Maybe atleast 2 field trips per month. Tuition fee is more or less 62t excluding books, materials and iniform. So you can play on more or less 70 to 72. On Field trips, you need to shoulder the fare and other materials needed. Best Regards

My daughter is turning 3 this July and Im looking for a good pre-school for her. We live in the don antonio/BF QC area. Any suggestions?

So far, the schools we see near our place are as follows:

The Seed Montessori
NS Montessori
Kiddos
Kinderheim

But we dont have any idea as to the reputation of these schools. Any feedback would help.

A pre-school that teaches chinese within our area would be a plus :)

NS Montessori is very very good. They've been in operation for nearly 30 years. I should know, me and my siblings all went to preschool there (though I was there only briefly).

Mrs Nieva Subong (the owner) is still very hands-on to this date. And the teachers are very good.

They specialize in early reading and early math as well as good study habit formation. I believe they have a 100% passing rate for Ateneo, Claret, Lasalle Holy Spirit, Miriam etc. A number of their graduates go to Philippine Science later on owing to the early good study habits this school instills. My sister and her friends who went to Pisay from Holy Spirit all came from NS.

Later on I plan to send my kids there if we're still based in BF. :)

i just enrolled my son at PHILADELPHIA HIGH SCHOOL at TALAYAN VILLAGE QC. Its a big chinese school but they cater to toddler as young as 2.5 y/o and Progressive ang approach nila sa toddler and nursery. The preschool department has their own bulding so hindi sila mahahalo sa mga older kids. So far, sa naobserve during the assesment test nung anak ko, okay naman ang mga teachers very loving talaga sa kids. and the nice part of it, the tuition fee is very affordable 21k for the whole year including snacks.

Mura na to think na its a christian / chinese school... i just hope i made the right decision. well feeling ko naman. :) HTH!

for anyone from manila vito cruz heres where my searching brought me to:
St. lucy integrated school- 30k not aircon rooms, 18 students 2 teachers
Green allon - 33k ++ not yet recognized by decs so im still thinking pa if ok ba tong school n to, although inviting yung theater group nila every friday.
Beginners camp - 34k++ pretty expensive for a garage type of school, saka yung play area sa loob rin ng classroom, pero nice kase 10 students lang per class, so matututukan daw talaga ang bata
as of now closed na lahat ng morning classes nila closed na, open nalang is afternoon, nap time naman ng anak ko yun

Hi mommy! Have you visited Kinderhaus already? How was it? Hope you chose it for your 3 year old daughter! It's a developmental preschool and would really bring out the best in your child. A lot of kids who go there pass entrance exams when they take tests to enter the big schools. You can visit their Multiply site for more info. God bless!

Hi mommies! i would just like to recommend Kidz Domain learning Center, in SM Bicutan. It's a good little preschool, with a play center for the children to play in after class. I'm confident in enrolling my child there, in the Toddlers class.. The teacher is a fresh grad from DLSU, so I'm sure my kid will get good, quality education. :D

TRY ICBB NORTHGREENHILLS!!! i used to teach preschool in ICBB connecticut ( 10 years ago pa )and my stint there inspired me to persue my masters in education and psychology. their program in early reading is so good, kids learn to read as early as 2! and dream ko is to franchise not just any preschool but ICBB. They have year end productions in the PCI tower theater Makati or Music Museum , kids perform Les Miserable, CATS, Phantom of the Opera,Ms Saigon...galing talaga... i cant wait to send my only daughter there as soon as she turns 1.8 years old. quality education talaga, former graduate is KC Concepcion and other sons and daughters of showbiz, politics and business tycoons, im thinking, if these people who have soo much money and choices send their kids there, that school must be doing something right. sorry to gush, im a new member and just cant reisist to share! for those who are interested, their website is www.icbb-ph.com

Hi gem2195. Im already IN Kinderhaus and I love it along with my child. Thanks for the recom also. I had mixed feelings with the other schools. But so far, so good!
I also want to share this with you:While a lot has been written about how old (looking) each preschool is, here are some facts- I say facts because they are not based on hearsay and what others think:
CRADLE OF JOY-sits on an early 70's house but is building a new structure (they have gradeschool);
RAYA- 60's old house (adding a building for gradeshool)
KINDERHAUS - mid-90's preschool building (not house), no gradeschool
Child- mid-2000 one-room condo unit, one classroom for all levels ( 2-yr old nursery to kinder)
Children's University- 70's house, preschool only
ABS-CBN Children's - 70's old house converted into school (until grade 6 already!)
PIAGETIAN- new school building until gradeschool
Most of the schools in the Scout Area are old houses converted into preschools/schools.
While it is good to read and take on other peoples' word for it, better if YOU do the rounds of these schools yourself!

Thanks for that info. I'm considering international christian academy since it's the closest school near my place (other than olivarez btw hows olivarez? Is this a good school?). There's no chinese school nearby also so I'm looking for a nice private school instead. I got lots of favorable response from this school which i believe my daughter will benefit a lot.

I don't if there's already this kind of thread but anyway, I've listed down some of the school which I want for my daughter. I just don't know if the school is expensive or not. How about the teaching? Is it progressive or traditional? Thanks in advance.

1. MGC New Life - Makati
2. Makati Hope Christian School - Makati
3. Hope Christian High School - Manila
4. St. Stephen High School - Manila
5. Chiang Kai Shek - Manila
6. International Christian Academy - Paranaque
7. Gideon Academy - Pasay
8. Pasay Chung Hua Academy - Pasay
9. Clay and Potter - Paranaque
10. Create Learning Center - Paranaque
11. Little Archers Learning Center - Paranaque
12. Sacred Heart School - Paranaque

I'll be moving to Sucat, Paranaque next month and need a good school for my 2 1/2 years old daughter. Preferably a chinese school.

by the way, this link might help http://www.preschoolchoices.com/

Hi! I studied in Makati Hope Christian School from Kinder to 1st year high school then transferred to Phil. Pasay Chung Hua Academy until I finished 4th year. I loved studying in Makati Hope. Nung time ko, konti lang ang students. I'm 28 years old now btw. Sobrang disciplined and religious ang mga kids. Christian kasi family ko and my mom used to work in an office in Pasong Tamo kaya it was a good choice. Hindi kami Chinese but I didn't really have a difficult time adjusting. Mababait kasi naging teachers ko. Pasay Chung Hua is okay in terms of education but I can say that I enjoyed my days in Makati Hope more. Siguro kasi mas matagal ako dun.

Any recommendations for pre-schools in the South area such as Bacoor, Imus, Alabang, Las Pinas?

Hi! You can try Elizabeth Seton School-South and International British Academy in Imus. Magkatapat lang halos yun sa Aguinaldo Highway. A neighbor told me mas affordable daw ang tuition sa International British Academy kaysa Seton. I've heard good things about the two schools from people. My brothers naman went to Philippine Christian University in Dasma. Medyo malayo na yun if you live in Bacoor or Imus pero maganda din dun. I'm interested in San Beda College-Alabang as well. Kaya lang matagal pa naman yun kasi I'm just 11 weeks pregnant so marami pang time maghanap ng preschool for my baby.

dls-zobel is around P90K / year and yes it may create confusion sa kids mo, kami di christians that's why we opted to have our kids study sa montessori, walang religion class kungdi christian living.

it maybe challenging for parents on how to explain why some christian practices are not applicable sa catholic practices and vice versa...but this can be explained thru time and maturity ng kids natin.

although there are a lot of discussions regarding best of teaching methods, i believe sa montessori vis a vis traditional, as my wife and i studied in traditional schools, it stunted our growth to further excel (in our opinion)

in montessori, if your child is a late bloomer...he can be monitored and be guided accordingly .

and in case he is a fast learner and the child is done with his program , he can further advance at his own pace but also in relation to a progressive method....

unlike sa traditional..me given curriculum and study plan na in a year ..so regardless if your child can or cannot cope up...yun yung susundin.

my kids are now enrolled in Montessori de Manila in BF pque, tuition is around P72-75k/year ..preparatory levels have airconditioned classrooms while the elementary doesn't have that's why we are looking for alternative schools.

OB montessori, also in Bf pque , is around P82-85k/yr -- all levels are airconditioned ( at least yung nakita namin is preparatory and grade school).

kids nowadays are different, more inquisitive, more exploratory ...maybe because of the environment and generation now hehehe

but at the end of the day, it all boils down to your priority and budget considerations din di ba ?

southville ...hehehe puro koreans dun e , and medyo naguguluhan ako sa set up ng school..me annex annex kasi e

pero okey naman surrounding

the tuition is around P115-130k for 2009 SY....

yep, it's really difficult and challenging at that in finding the best school for our kids....

kaya when i'm observing some people, it boils down to our priorities...

some people like investing in houses/cars pero alang laman ref and kung san san lang aral mga anak

some people invest to their kids and kahit mukhang busabos silang parents okey lang...

kami, we invest in our kids education ,sacrificing a lavish lifestyle and contented on what we can afford...we do not push or force things thru kasi baka mas masahol mangyari hehehe

we do not want to force our kids to study in a P100-150k/year school tapos di namin mame-maintain ...kawawa din mga bata

plus we also should consider ang environment (like upbringing ng classmates, educational/experiences ng teachers , school facilities , ratio ng teacher vs student )

baka mamaya puro sosyal mga classmates,di for sure you need to cope up with that surrounding otherwise, mukhang ***** anak mo

you sit down with the teacher/principal and interview them

check medical facility -- kami we scrutinize this carefully,as my asthma kids namin

ratio ng teacher/student --- sa ibang school 1 teacher : 40 students... ano kaya matutunan ng kids pag ganon ?

during our generation , madali yun as everybody was into tradtional school e ...pero now...dami na choices

if i were you, list down all the priorities/factors you are considering tapos compare mo sa ibang schools din :d

1) monetary consideration
* Tuition fees /miscellaneous charges
* Financing scheme if any
* books / school supplies/ uniforms /etc
* bus service / gasoline expense if you're the driver
* food / money baon

2) school
* proximity / convenience to your residence
* teaching method
* religious alignment
* curriculum
* facilities
* teacher experience/ educational background
* ratio of teacher vs student
* reputation of school (where do their graduates end up ? do they pass DLSU / Ateneo / UP ? )
* historical passing rate sa NSAT / CSAT / any applicable tests before
* Coed ?
* check mo din baka puro field trips lang alam gawin ng school hehehe

3) other related factors

hope this helps :D

if you are in BF pque area and pasok sa budget mo...i suggest Montessori De Manila...okey ang casa-prep nila....same level as OB montessori din as far as i know

by the way, do research on where the schools is affiliated din ,madami kasi montessori kuno pero di naman reputable

a true montessori uses all the educational methods and teaching tools sa students (including learning materials, play blocks, etc)

:D

by the way, when your kid is already enrolled ...try mo compare discreetly sa ibang bata ..same age but different school

initially,we were supposed to enroll our kids sa CSA ,my cousin enrolled her kid there kasi andun na yung older sister.

ang only problem we have now is that our kids do not know how to speak "Tagalog" .......instead na matuto sa school, lalong gumaling sa english :( kaya pagdating sa Filipino subjects...direction pa lang di na mabasa ..kaya bokya :(

my kids have 8-10 subjects ata including biology, zoology ,etc

pag ginagawa namin assignment together, nagugulat ako e hehehe kasi during my time pang grade school level na yun turo

assignment every friday lang meron..for submission the ff tuesday

they learn to write before age 5 and read before age 6

pag ginagawa namin assignment together, nagugulat ako e hehehe kasi during my time pang grade school level na yun turo

assignment every friday lang meron..for submission the ff tuesday

they learn to write before age 5 and read before age 6

cute naman. :Dpatambayin dapat sa kanto para matuto tagalog.joke!:naughty:
kiding aside, you have a point ulit! ikaw na lang kaya magturo sa anak ko:rotflmao:
if you decided to bring your child somewhere above the family budget and somehow did not maintain the financial needs, they are the one that suffers. (plus not to mention peer pressure. ok lang maging sosi but not bratt!) tapos biglang change of environment and quality of educ.
