GMA programs win awards from US Int’l Film and Video Festival




Once again, GMA News & Public Affairs programs have been recognized by the US International Film and Video Festival with one of the world’s highest honors in audio visual competition.


A total of seven GMA News and Public Affairs programs were chosen from more than 1,300 entries from 30 countries for this year’s competition. The awards will be given out on June 4 in Los Angeles, California.

To receive the festival’s highest honor, the Gold Camera Award, is Rhea Santos’ "At Your Service" under the Community Development genre for its "Under The Sea" special which showed residents of a fishing community being taught how to build an artificial coral reef and given alternative means of livelihood.

To receive the Certificate for Creative Excellence are "Debate with Mare and Pare" for Politics, Government, World Relations, and Civics; "Extra Challenge" for Entertainment; "i-Witness: The GMA Documentaries" and "Imbestigador" for Documentary; "Kay Susan Tayo" for How To and Instructional; and "Wish Ko Lang!" for Motivational and Inspirational genre.

Now on its 38th year, the US International Film and Video Festival Awards is one of the world’s leading international events devoted exclusively to the yearly selection and recognition of outstanding business, television, documentary, entertainment, industrial and informational productions.

VARIOUS programs of the country's most respected and most credible news organization, GMA News and Public Affairs, received recognition from the US International Film and Video Festival--one of the world's highest honors in audio-visual competition.

A total of seven GMA News and Public Affairs programs were chosen from over 1,300 entries from 30 countries for this year's Annual Awards Competition and will be awarded on June 4, 2005 in Los Angeles, CA, USA.
