Since there are a lot of DLSU peps here i guess i could post some guideline for tomorrow:
1. Grievance could be either FORMAL or INFORMAL. If the grievance was made orally it is considered informal. Once a formal complaint has been filed and put into writing, it is already considered formal.
2. Informal grievance cases are settled by both parties through a dialogue.
3.Formal grievance cases shall follow a set of procedures. 3 letters shall be made within (2) weeks of the start of the following term. the original-Department chair, one (1) copy-Faculty Member involved and the last is kept for file.
4. The Student Council, through the college and batch assemblies will have booths set up on Course Card Distribution Day in your respective colleges. We have prepared Forms for easy assessment of the case and for easier filing.
5. Upon receipt of the complaint the Department shall have three (3) working days to require the faculty member to answer the complaint in writing. The answer must be in three copies, for the Chair, File and the Student.
6. Upon receipt of the written response the Department Chair shall evaluate the complaint and answer.
7. FAILURE TO RESPOND IN WRITTING SHALL BE CONSIDERED AN ADMISSION OF THE CHARGES, AND THE DEPARTMENT CHAIR SHALL RESOLVE THE COMPLAINT ON THE STRENGTH OF THIS ADMISSION. (Article 14.3.2.1.1.2.3)
8. A meeting may be called to clarify any question that might arise.
9. With in three (3) days after the meeting the Department Chair based on sufficient facts and evidence shall resolve the case.
10. If a party is not satisfied an appeal to the college grievance board must be accomplished as soon as possible. A letter to the Dean requesting that the board be convened to handle the case. (for the following please refer to the new Student Handbook or to any Student Council Officer)
