Of all the Math subjects I've taken in Ateneo, I like Advanced Calculus I and II (Math 171 and 172 respectively) and Combinatorics (Math 195J.12) least.

oh my God! andyan pa rin si NFQ? Norman F. Quimpo?

I had a big year with him nuong freshman pa ako! Ma21 & Ma22: I don't know kung it is him or it is the composition of the class but I swear pumuti ang buhok ko! The first two sems of my college life was spent with Quimpo and his fanatical students.

Yes! Big time chess team captain Bernard Chan didn't give me an inch. Papaano ako makakakuha ng desenteng grade kay Quimpo if he always exceeds the 100 pt mark?

Imbis na ma-curve ang grades paakyat - pinapababa niya with his no-less-than-110%-always na grades sa exam!

I should have taken the regular math course (Math18 A&B) na lang sana so that I had a more decent grade in Math, hindi pa ako nahirapan ng husto. Whew, good thing those are the only two math i took in college. I swear, I liked math very much in HS, but when i got to Quimpo's class, that last two math was worse than hell...

It's not advisable to skip Math 18, well, except if you're really good. After being through many Math courses, I realize that it pays to have reviewed the basics, which, as a Math major, I had from Math 18. That's why I don't have any regrets whatsoever about missing the Advanced Placement Test.

cultured pearls: Thank God, I've never been under Dr. Quimpo. I heard he's quite a shocker, but hey, I've been under some shocking teachers myself. Anyway, I don't know why they changed your curriculum. We never had Discrete Math in ours; in place of it is Number Theory. Gaaad, you shouldn't miss Number Theory! It's very, very exciting and fun. Just don't take it under Mr. Escuadro. ;)

yuga: Hahaha! Bitter ba? Well, you shouldn't have skipped Math 18. Anong napala mo? http://www.pinoyexchange.com/crazy.gif

UPD

Math 114 - some portions of it e.g. the topic on vector spaces. The rest, ok na (matrices & eigenvalues)
EE 102 - random variables, arggh! (but dont get me wrong, the course is very important if you want to go into communications)

Math 17, Math 53 series - the best, very intuitive. There are topics in Math 17 that are still very relevant in higher eee courses e.g. trigo identities

ES 21 and EE 15 - very useful.
