I think a lot of pExers are Chinese so, which school do you think is the best in terms of education, training, academic reputation, and overall student development?
St. Jude? Uno High School? Grace Christian? Chiang kai Shek College? St. Stephen's? or Hope???

Speak up!

The best Chinese school --->; Grace Christian High School!!!

Why? Kasi,

St. Jude - puro mga "hwana-gong" (hindi marunong mag-Chinese, nawala na ang Chinese cultural heritage ng mga students.

Uno High School - paglabas mo ng Uno, it's either maniac ka or nerd ka.

Chiang Kai Shek - puro G.I. (Genuine Intsik) straight from China (those that put up businesses in divisoria and have illegal documents that enable them to stay in the Philippines)

St. Stephen's - the haven of sexual sin - every year in every batch at least tatlo ang nabubuntis

Hope Christian - okay lang naman pero di rin ganun kagagaling mga students

Grace Christian High School - the best!!! with none of the hype of sex, drugs, and disgusting GIs, and well-balanced ang education --- people grow up to be mature Chinese adults.

That's why. Period.

Para sa akin, da best ang St. Jude!!! St. Jude forever... better than Xavier or ICA. hindi ka-level ng mga pipitsuging schools like Uno, Grace, St Stephen, especially Chiang Kai! yikes :D

--- excuse me!!!!! anong basis mo e? kami may chinese literature at history kami. kayo meron? cut off grade namin 75% sa chinese tests na 4 pages of chinese essay. mali isang word minus one. e kayo?

hwanagong eh? i wonder if u can apply your chinese to irl situations. mandarin ha! as in written mandarin. ndi fukien na mambobola lang ng kinakausap nyo.

grabe as in yung chinese lang naman namin ginagamit namin sa pag uusap with the teacher (as in straight mandarin ha...no mandarin no talk), sa tests namin bawal ang english. sa notes namin even one english word wala. lahat ng dyansties ng china pinag aralan lang naman namin. major works ng major poets ng china. in short, kulang nalang dalhin kami sa china. grabe..ganon pala ang nawawalang chinese cultural heritage!!!!!

magaling sa chinese e? mature chinese individuals? from the way you boasted of that school...if that is your brand of maturity, i'll make sure all my kids and my descendants avoid your school even if it means studying in a non-chinese school!!!!

but i know that uno is a good chinese school. they would eventually give st jude a run for their money.

grace christian high school? hmmmm......

oh by the way.. Peanuts name the four major beauties of china nga. magaling ka d ba? may chinese cultural heritage. dapat you know them. :)

*clue: one of them nanay ng isang major poet. :)

I'm sure you didn't deliberately try to insult practically the whole Filipino-Chinese race there, Peanuts. But a little less intolerance and less sweeping generalizations may be in order, eh?

lance_ryan: ICA-Greenhills and Xavier School are not considered Chinese schools. They are Filipino-Chinese schools and do not teach the same type of Chinese curriculum as St. Jude or any other school, and thus cannot be compared.

BadGiRL: Frankly, hindi ko alam yang sinasabi mong four Chinese beauties... sorry =)Tinuro ba sa atin yan? Hindi ko maalala eh.

But I agree that Uno is a good school, yun nga lang maraming nerds/geeks doon.

Peanuts: akala ko pa naman magkakasundo tayo (remember our posts on the other threads?) yun pala dito lang tayo magkakatalo - sa schools! Why mo naman nilait-lait school namin? Baka yung sinasabi mong hwanagong eh iilan lang (totoo namang meron nun sa school natin eh BadGiRL!) pero wag mo namang lahatin coz gwa um si hwanagong la! :D

I'd say da best ang St.Jude altough m from grace...Dat's bcoz grace's facilities suck big time(panahon pa ata ng mga uncle ko facilities dun).Tapos tanong ko sa cus ko kung ano pinagbago ng grace pag-graduate ko ng hs,sabi nya pininturahan lang ng blue *** mga gate and railings sa corridor...Ngek!!!!:lol::lol::lol:

And the chinese curriculum is not good also.

Parang nakalimutan kaming taga PCHS ah hehehe
di kami the best
pero at least kami ang talagang halos 100% na drug free, violence free(minsan lang kami mangupak), buntis free (isa or dalawang babae pa lang ang alam ko na nabuntis ever since). And every other yr kundi man every year we produce students that top in science or math olympiads in the whole phils. =P at most important di kami hwana gong as in mandarin.

For me, the one leading the pack has got to be St. Jude by all means, except for some dead memorization parts in Chinese subjects. The facilities, environs, values, and educational curriculum are all a cut above the rest.

I've taught in Xavier for a year and I think their educational system has a lot of flaws.

Grace is a not-so-bad school, but I think their Chinese education is not that good either.

I was impressed once by some Chiang Kai Shek folks with the way they acted politely and intelligently on a particular inter-scholastic contest before. They really looked like mature and smart young people. But then again, my nephew who studies there doesn't know how to survive a decent conversation in Mandarin/Fookien at all -- to think that he's graduated from CKS's high school Chinese class. Which means there must be some (albeit minor? I'm not that clear about this) flaws in the way the Chinese instructors teach.

In the end, it all boils down to the Chinese individual.

I'm not from a Chinese school but my mom works in the Preschool Department of St. Jude. She used to teach but now Asst. Headteacher na siya. Those from St. Jude might know her... Mrs. Elvira Agtarap Santos.
Sa tingin ko magagaling naman talaga ang karamihan ng Chinese schools but I think dahil yun sa students themselves. Since my mom works in St. Jude, most of the stories I know are about their students. From what I've heard, maraming students dun really develop a love for learning, kaya nagiging magaling. Pero sa lahat naman ng schools eh merong naliligaw ng landas. Hindi naman ata nawawala yun eh. I think you should always be grateful to the school that taught you well. At hindi naman magandang manira o mamintas ng ibang school lalo na kung hindi ka doon nag-aral.

This is a strange discussion...

I've been heavily involved in Chinoy, the Chinese feature magazine, and Celadon, the Chinese Student Association in Ateneo. A lot of the students from the schools mentioned get along really well in Ateneo. I have a bunch of ICAns and Grace Christian girls who merged their barkadas in my class, for example.

Admittedly, in the Ateneo, the Xaverians and ICAns have the greatest numbers followed by Grace Christian and St. Jude, but I have known a number of interesting people from the other schools. It's nice, actually, because the closest thing Xavier students get to an opportunity to meet people from Grace, Hope, CKS and Uno is the Tiong Lian basketball games! :)

I'm b4 from GCHS, i can say that we're a great school, in a way that we are molded not in the world( hinde kami tinuruan para lang magpayaman, but to become a good person). We've been taught how to be a good model, maging magandang example sa iba, so that maki samin ang pagiging Christian not by words only but in action also. Sorry nlng sa mga ibang Gracians. And i can say that hindi naman talaga maganda yung chinese namin, lalo na tinanggal yung math s achinese. pero im proud that our school really produces Good students and mostly the "BEST" in Math!!!

Yes, I agree that GCHS is a great school. GCHS doesn't only produce good students but also cute students as well. In fact I know one Gracian from CCS who is so cute if I am not mistaken the cutest in CCS. And she is not only cute but intelligent as well. She's a nice example of beauty and brains

Hey Peanut! Who do you think you are, because you're from grace you think that it's the best school! Well, I think you're so close minded. Although, im not from st. jude, I think that it is the best chinese school but what lacks from them is that they are not that active yet they provide a better education than in grace...
As for what you said with st stephens, you are really mistaken, how sure are you that in a year, 3 students came out there pregnant! You are really jumping into conclusions!
St Stephens may not be the best school but students there are well-rounded individuals, and if you're going to boast about how good you are in math, well...St stephens is also good at it, better than you even! Excuse me for defending sshs but i really honestly think that stephenians are individuals who are responsible, cooperative, intelligent and they could handle anything!
In grace, what do you have?! Grace don't provide quality education, grace would always be the last compared to all chinese schools here in the philippines!

Feb 20, 2001, 12:08 PM
By the way, no matter how good a school is...it really depends on the individual, forgive me for praising sshs and degrading gchs but i was really shocked that a person could really say such a thing like that...

I am from SSHS. I am not stupid, neither am I a sex maniac. So why do you guys generalize?

An intelligent person thinks before he speaks.
That’s why some of them prefer to keep their mouths shut.
Which is not the case for some people here, so I see.

And if you care to know, I study in Ateneo. My friends study in Lasalle. And none of them are pregnant. So don't pull the whole school into this stupid mess.

Hey to the Gracian who's said Stephenians were sex maniacs.

A big bombshell for you.
The Stephenian who got pregnant was once a Gracian, too. So I guess your school didn't give her enough foundation, huh?

(Not to bash Gracians, but to the person lang, ok?)

I would just like to add my two cents worth to this hot debate on who's the better and best chinese school. Personally, I feel it's not the school that matters but rather the individual itself. I'm from SSHS batch 95, my classmate and our valedictorian, Evelyn Chua, became an oblation scholar and was UP's summa cum laude in 2000. After that she went on to top the accounting board exams in 2000. A year before us, batch 94 they produced another whiz, Garry Ng, he steered SSHS to win the hs division of Battle Of The Brains, he also entered UP, was summa cum laude in 1999, and was no. 2 in the accounting board exams. Taking these two exemplary people into account, I feel that if they entered UNO, CKSC, Hope, GCHS and the other aforementioned schools, I think they'd still excel given the chance. I know these two personally and I know their family backgrounds very well. Their families raised these two to excel and be good individuals. In essence, it is not the school itself but how the students thrive and are raised by their family that counts. You see, the school is but a branch of the learning tree, the basic foundation should come from the family itself.

I would also like to address the people who branded SSHS as a school of sin where 3 get pregnant every year. I won't ever argue that it never happens but I'd like to point out that things like that never is or was exclusive to one school. Who is one to say that a Grace does not produce a pregnancy or even CKSC? It's not a thing exclusive to SSHS. Much like good, exemplary students are not our own sole possessions, I mean other schools also have exemplary studes. Point in case: Richelle Sy, GMA 7 reporter hails from SSHS, her co-reporter (forgot her name) came from Saint Jude. So don't generalize. Thank you.

poisoncharm is right.

Besides that, I graduated last year, and my batch (2000) produced two oblation scholars. Not one, but two!

And I have two batchmates in Lasalle getting perfect 4.0 GPAs. =O

Etc. etc. etc.

It really does depend on the individual, so don't put the whole school in it.

Oh yeah! Richelle Sy's brother, Dux, studied in Atlanta. He became the dean or something of the day. And his parents received a letter or certificate because he was hailed as one of the best 100 students in America.

yeah, Poisoncharm and jaczie is right.
It really depends on the individual.
A lot of students who graduated from SSHS all got in to a good school like UP, Ateneo and DLSU.
Everybody who studies in SSHS has their own achievements!

ey jaczie, guess who???!!! l.a.y...!!!genie you there? hehe... whoever you are that started this thread & peanut whoever or WHATEVER you are could you please take look at yourself first! if you think you're a well educated individual do you think you'll be saying all those things??!! how would you say that sshs is full of sins when you havent even stepped inside it and studied there!!

info for u: students who graduates there are the ones who are well rounded..i doubt it if you can say that gracians are like us. i dont think that sshs and gchs are comparable its like comparing the size of an elephant to an ant. as a lot of people know, sshs can crash gchs without even moving our pinkie!!!

ivw always thought of Grace Christian High School as a respectable school. but now im having second thoughts. if they produce people like peanuts, then i guess they are the worst chinese school/school here in our country.

i graduated from st. jude a couple of years back and am really happy to say that i feel really proud when i tell people that i graduated from st. jude.

for me...there is no "best" chinese school...all of those schools have their edge and flaws kung chinese curriculum ang pag-uusapan...swerte tlaga tayong mga judenites coz we have good teachers (super galing manghuli ng cheating :))

i really can't say what is the best and what is a bad school...so far, when i go out with people from different schools we talk in fookien and ok naman eh. siguro some write better than others but sa conversational chinese, we understand each other perfectly. recently nga, i asked my friends kung naaalala pa nila ang phu phe me fe eh. yung kwo in...and if they can write it pa...after a couple of years, most of them forgot it na.

we can't really judge the schools eh. kahit na we stayed in our school for 13 years, there are still a lot of factors which affect our personality.

siguro after 5 more years, iba na yung level of education sa schools natin..we really don't know...we really can't predict anything.

being an ican, i really didn't get to know a lot of people from the chinese schools in manila 'til i stepped into the corridors of ateneo.

"best" is really a relative term. if you take the word and define it as producing people who are not only academically competent but streetsmart as well, morally upright, and comfortable with themselves without having to give in to insecurities by trying to social climb, i'd have to say ST. JUDE has so far produced the best people.

yeah brendan is right, we are all proud of our schools but we ourselves know na hindi naman lahat ng mga tao sa schools natin good, there are also bad ones...we shouldn't generalize.

you know, pag you go to college or start working, iba na yung feeling parang minsan nga chinese people tend to create cliques in their offices or colleges eh...kasi nagsasama rin yan.

ako taga SPAS (st. peter the apostle school, 1260 pres. quirino ave. paco, mla; in case you don't know). i wouldn't say that our school is the best. but one thing for sure. alumni from our school are doing great in college. despite the fact that our averages are very low in our school, in college, we, at least, excell. pero talagang talo sa facilities ang spas

and for the detractors of ica and xavier -- BUG OFF! we aren't included in this discussion because we're FILIPINO-CHINESE schools, not chinese schools, which this thread is about.

on another note -- hats off to all you guys. really. you speak and read and write good chinese, and don't get to be called "hwa na gong" as much as we do.

alma niyo hindi ko kayo maintindihan!!! ano bang gusto niyong ipakita na mas magaling ang respective school niyo!!!! well lets just say that all chinese school has its strengths okay!!! as for ika and xavier i dont think na they not good kasi i have friends from both schools and they speak good chinese and i dont think na they are hwa na gong. so who ever think that way doesnt believe on themselves.

and one more thing regarding the drummers i think you should check the UAAP or NCAA kasi halos lahat ng beat ng schools are the same they only add something to make it different so sana huwag kang masyadong defensive

lahat nga na schools may kanya-kanyang strengths and weaknesses, pero wala namang laitan...

i've got nothing against Grace Christian kasi so far, lahat na naging best friends ko sa DLSU is taga-grace, pero nanggaling mismo sa kanila na yung mga taga grace daw e feeling maporma at mayabang... hindi na nanggaling sa ibang school yan ha...

on another note -- hats off to all you guys. really. you speak and read and write good chinese, and don't get to be called "hwa na gong" as much as we do.

may classmates nga akong galing st. jude dati na sobrang lakas mag cheating, pero i'm not saying na lahat na galing sa st. jude chitingero... depende lang talaga.... kaya let's all be matured individuals here... let's be fair... =)

magco-comment lang ako sa mga fil-chi schools na napasukan ko...
Paco Citizen Academy Foundation (Paz St., Paco Mla) -- ok naman siya..sobrang luwag ng teachers sa students.

Makati Hope Christian School (P.Tamo Ext. Mahirap pumasa!

Gideon Academy (F.B. Harrison, Pasay City) -- Ang hirap ng chinese kakatamad i-memorize buong libro! Mababait yung faculty. Maliit lang kasi yung class kaya natuturuan nilang mabuti tapos nabibigay yung attention, di tulad sa ibang malalaking fil-chi schools.

yun lang!

I am one of you guys, who are from chinese school. Sa akin, ang usapin ito walang pupuntahan kung magtatalo tayo. High School, became our background on what we are now, no matter what school do we came from. For my case, my prinsiples are base on my experience during my stay at SPAS (St, Peter the Apostle School) kayo rin, may kanyakanya tayong natututunan, aminin natin ang bawat paaralan ay may kanya-kanyang kahinaan, pero hindi dahil mahina ang iskwelahan doon sa isang aspekto sasabihin natin na bulok yun iskwelahan na yun. Sa akin lahat ng paaralan magaling, lahat yan, kahit galing ka ng St. Peter, St. Jude, St. Stephen, Hope, Chang Kai, Uno, Sakia, Ica, Xavier, Jin Nan, Kiaw Tiong, Patriotic, Tiong San, Tion Se, Pasay Chung Hua, Paco Citizen, Lorenzo, etc... pare-pareho lang yan, nasa estudyante naman yan, wala sa school.

Medyo huli na yata ako para dito. Anyway, different schools have their own strengths and weaknesses, hindi na dapat pinag-aawayan iyan.

Just to make few clarifications... As for somebody who said Uneans are nerds and maniacs. Well, I'm sorry to say you're wrong. With several MMTLBA and FCAAF trophies at home, it is already a sufficient reason to disprove your baseless claim.

As for the drumbeats, MAJORITY of the Unean beats are original and they were the forces behind the 30 years of Tiong Lian Cheering Squad Championship. I hope people from other schools can find an alternative source for their beats. :beam:

It's painfully ironic. I've tried to go through this thread and was amused at some folks avidly (even rabidly) defending their alma matter with atrocious grammar. Simple subject and verb agreements folks, let's not give the Queen anymore migraines. In general, a lot of the Chinese schools do not have very good emphasis on communication subjects, either that, or kulang lang sa practice ang mga tao.

I come from Hope. Am not proud of it because I feel that the school...well...sucks. A huge chunk of what I know and who I am was honed in my college years as well as my brief education abroad.

I do agree that the future success of the person is dictated a lot by his own cerebral abilities and a lot less by the actual edifice where the education was gained, BUT the school contributes a lot in terms of making the person a more well-rounded individual. In Hope, what sports activities did we engage in...sipa?! What social clubs and extra-curricular activities did we have?

If you come from a sucky school, it would be best if you were on the reticent side in a discussion about who's best.

Finally, all this talk about being hwanagong and stuff, let me share with you my thoughts...we are all living in the Philippines!!! The only real need you may have of speaking and writing Manadarin is if you have plans of building a family or a career in Taiwan or China. The only real use you may have for being able to READ mandarin is to be able to read the Chinese newspapers. What value does that bring? What secrets do the Chinese newspapers hold that PDI or the Star don't have access to? Can anybody give me one REAL WORLD value of being able to read and speak in Mandarin? Where do all the IT companies hold their Asian offices? Do you think they build their hubs in China or Taiwan? No, they don't, they're all in Singapore or Hong Kong. I've been to Singapore twice and did not have to exercise my grade-oneish level of mandarin. I've been to HK a number to times and they don't understand a word of Mandarin, folks...they're all Cantonese! I feel that all those hours studying mandarin in HS were intellectually equivalent to my long hours under the sun in DLSU ROTC...

I now have a family of my own and HOPE would be the last place on earth my child would step foot on. I long to see a school where the Chinese students would be taught:

1. Impeccable table manners.
2. Not to spit ANYWHERE.
3. Not to discriminate against the very same people who own the land you're living on.
4. Not to speak Chinese in front of Filipinos.
5. That staring is impolite.
6. Thank you, please and sorry are very important words, to be copiously used during the course of your life.

A big advantage about Chinese Schools ( CKSC, Sakya, UNO, etc ) is that they have very good foundations in Math. As in..grabe!
I'm proud of my Alma Mater, w/c is Saint Jude Catholic School. Who says dead memorization doesn't help? :) ( Saint Jude students memorize and memorize all the time) It helped me with my studies, specially when there's no way but to memorize the lessons, in order to pass. Also, there is something really about Saint Jude, the influences that were given to every Saint Jude student..lalo na yung discipline and diligence towards schoolwork. Sabi nga nila, yung tamad na samin medyo masipag pa pag dating sa college..:) I think that every school has its own qualities to be proud with, specially if students excel in their field of specialty when they go out to the real world, carrying the name of the school :)

1. First, I have no problem with studying and learning Fukien and conversational Chinese. The whole point of my post was the uselessness of learning Mandarin literature, mandarin math etc...

2. Language is just ONE component of a people's culture. I personally wouldn't be ashamed if just for the sake of argument, I don't know how to speak Chinese. You seem to believe that people who do not know how to speak in their native tongue should be ashamed of themselves. A French guy born and raised in the States and not able to speak any French should be ashamed of himself? Jose Rizal seemed to have been more facile with Spanish than Filipino, was he supposed to be ashamed? Ninoy Aquino spoke and wrote most of his works in flawless English, anything shameful about our hero?

3. Yes, I know Cantonese is a Chinese dialect, your having to state that seems to indicate strongly that you have completely missed my point. Either that, or you're just trying to say something smart, in this case, I'm missing yours...

4. You are mistaking regional offices for factories. There indeed are a lot of factories in China, and the reasons of vast lands and cheap labor in the final analysis aren't things that your can really be proud of, is it? It may be just laws of demand and supply coming into play.

5. "and they all regretted for not learning mandarin..."*sigh*

6. Let me run my point by you again....we are in a foreign land, I see no clear and present (or future) need to learn MANDARIN, Fookien probably, but to spend roughly 50% of your elementary and hs years learning and writing this language is hours and hours completely down the drain. If you have plans of going to China, then, well and good. But if everybody else's plan is to make it big here in this country, then, the need for Mandarin and the ability to read, write and count with it, should be as obsolete as the tradition of binding women's feet...oh wait, losing tradition and heritage saddens you right? Are you having your (future) wife's feet bound? Can I watch?

spadia
Jul 7, 2001, 07:28 PM
hello! youre view is wrong...about foot binding..thats old chinese tradition..right now no one is doing it.. if any rare lang...If youre not ashamed...i cant help it...but if you think its useless youre are terribly wrong....I take an example from a friend of mine, he is in his late 30's and have lots of businesses here...earning millions in a matter of days..and guess what..he worked with diff. people, Chinese, Cantonese,Taiwanese, Indian, Japanese and he found that it is a big advantage to him if he knows their language...

Well about Jp Rizal he is good in tagalog also...so whats wrong with that? Ninoy..he is good in english and in tagalog too.. did he said that Filipino lit is useless?

No pt. of learning mandarin? goodness, you don't have foresight
were having globalization, so every additional language counts.
You sport a chinese surname and name, got a chinese name and yet you dont know what ur name means..isnt that funny?

learning chinese math and lit. during hs is useless?every knowledge is useful. You dont have any appreciation for anything

and what about the Singaporeans i m talking about, why are they good in mandarin? They could have learn only english or malaysian?

How many mandarin speakers are there in the world?

IF you ve been to China town, in US, Canada, Japan etc. you wont see anyone speaking English

to sum up everything...what will the people say if they abolished chinese curriculum? If you want to make it BIG here?YOu need the asian market...not local market alone...people would like to trade with other people who shares a common language...If you know..in every G7 countries there are Chinese speaking people...

you are like a frog beneath the well..."Zing Di zhi Wa" well hope u get what i mean, you better open ur eyes.

and may i know how old are you?your business?where you work?

Lots of people love to learn chinese, you have the opportunity yet youve wasted....what would your parents say? in the first place why did your parents enrolled you to a chinese school?why did you take both chinese and english?coz your parents want you to isnt it?

Losing tradition and heritage i m sad..but of course we take the useful traditions and heritage...just like a japanese they copied chinese traditions and heritage...took out some and there they make their own...well from what you said ..its like you want a total abolition of it...

thank you

Losing tradition and heritage i m sad..but of course we take the useful traditions and heritage...just like a japanese they copied chinese traditions and heritage...took out some and there they make their own...well from what you said ..its like you want a total abolition of it...

thank you

*Groan* I refuse to engage in any kind of debate with a person who has the cheek to post with solecisms as atrocious as yours. Obviously there is some wisdom to my point of wastage of time...as a huge part of your high school and elementary years might have been better spent on...well...somethings are better left unsaid I suppose..

P.S. "Your" and "You're" are NOT interchangeable...
PPs. This is my last post addressed to you...you may have the last say

MeAKO...Youre arrogant...man, youre a Chinese...
shameful. If you think what Ive said is wrong..better look at a mirror and reflect...look at youre eyes, your features, though I m not a pure chinese still i learned to love it.

Besides..I m an open person, if you cant take an argument I am sorry, so sorry. . coz u cant defend urself

bout solecism...I can say that no one is perfect..well at least I am able to admit and learn. If you think my english is bad...fine...but your chinese is worst..your chinese vocabulary is only at the elementary level..and you are a chinese.."your" and "you're" I know is diff. I just didnt check it...so stop pointing at those measly errors...coz you got a bigger error-its your head.

(Anata no atama wa warui desu ne)..haha...shame shame..
sorry i dont mean to make you angry but I m just telling the truth
and ya...btw, youre arguing with a 19 year old teen hyukhyuk..

I wonder what your parents would say if they saw your postings
and do you dare to tell the whole Filpino-chinese community that learning chinese is useless??Go on.....or are you afraid?Since its your pt. you should defend your pt

Hello there Fil-chi's out there...I dont mean to just stick to one culture...its just that I wished you guys also retain cultures of your own, know how to speak it and learn to appreciate it.

I m not against other cultures, coz i myself is interested in cultures of diff. countries...but wherever I am, i wont forget my roots...thank you...I love to argue with meako...yehey...=)

Lahat naman ng school ok e. Wala naman talagang school na pwedeng sabihing the best. Each school has it's own advantage and disadvantages.

An attititude of a person is based on his personality. It is not only based on his/her educational background but also on his family background. But mostly the big factor there is on how his parents brought him up. So, we should not generalize an institution from a person's attitude. If a certain person acted that way, it doesn't mean that all the students from that school is like that. Besides, there is nothing to fight about. Arguing such things is useless. Kung ganun man siya e di hayaan na natin siya, wag niyo ng patulan kasi away lang naman ang kalalabasan niyan e. This forum was created for us to speak out and share our opinions not to boast our schools and bash other schools. I understand that we are proud of our alma mater but fighting with each other will do us no good. We are all in the same community, so please stop boasting and bashing around.

I'm from Grace, and all I can say is that it is not a bad school after all. One thing I like about Grace is the way the administration discipline the students. They are strict but I understand that their being strict is for our own good. Maybe to some people they don't understand why the school is strict to them but after they graduate they would understand why. Most of the graduates in my batch (1998), even in other batch, napansin ko matitino silang lahat. Kahit naman yung mga magugulo sa class, naging matino pag dating ng college e. The values they taught us, especially the Christian values, dala dala ko yan hanggang ngayon.

One thing I can be proud of our school is they produce students who are good in math, even though i hate this subject the most. Ako mismo, bumabagsak sa math subjects namin noon, but when I got into college parang ang dali dali ng math sakin except on investments diyan talaga ako hindi magaling. Di ba yan naman ang conception ng mga Filipinos sa Chinese, magagaling sa math and that is what all our schools specialize on.

Well, I guess it all depends on the way the school teaches that subject matter. I admit that Grace is not that good in Chinese dahil wala ka naman talagang matututunan sa Chinese namin. We only learned it through memorization (as what they say "si tak") but it did not help me improve my Chinese kasi hindi naman namin nagagamit yung pinagaralan namin e. All it takes is memorization to pass the subject. I'm an honor student sa Chinese class namin nung high school, but I'm sad to say being an honor student in our class is useless if you're not productive with what you've learned. Actually, I've almost forgotten them already. Maybe you might conclude that I'm saying learning Chinese is useless, well that's not what I meant. As what I've said earlier, it depends on the way it was taught to us. Medyo nanghihinayang nga ako kasi sayang yung Chinese namin. Hindi kasi ganun kagand ang sistema ng pagtuturo sa school namin e. Because of memorization, feeling ko tuloy parang wala akong kwentang Chinese kasi halos wala na akong alam e. If I had the chance to study Chinese again, why not, but the problem is I don't know where is the best school to study it, yun talagang matututo ka.

Hindi ako ang the best a! Gumagawa ka ng issue e. :hopeless:

Regarding Mandarin, sa tingin ko sobrang importante niyan. Sabihin natin dati China sobrang behind. Tawag nga ng mga tao dati "Sick Man of East Asia" e. Pero ngayon, candidate venue na sa Olympics. :beam: Isang beses pa lang ako nakakapunta sa China pero impressed talaga ako. Yung mga kalsada mas maluwag pa sa EDSA. So that means, umiimprove na yung China. 1 out of 10 people in this world (pls correct me if i'm wrong) ay Chinese. Kaya kapag marunong ka magsalita at magsulat ng Mandarin, kahit na hindi ka marunong mag-Cantonese, o mag-Fukien, magkakaintindihan pa rin kayo kasi pare-pareho lang ang pagsulat. :) Tama ba SANTAPAT? ;)

hehehe... wala man lang nagsabi na St Stephen's e ok... :( pero ok lang.. actually, i graduated from that school and sa tingin ko..hindi nga siya talaga ok. sa chinese kasi namin si thak lang talaga. ok naman ang mga teachers pero hindi rin lahat. pero mas ok kami sa english kaysa sa chinese. and gusto ko lang i-klaro na hindi lahat ng Stephenians ay malalandi (coz that's what i've been hearing na impression sa amin). it's just so sad since not all are like that. meron kung sa meron pero bilang lang. sa lahat naman ng schools may nababansagang pok-pok talaga eh diba?

eniway, for me i guess the best chinese school would be St. Jude. coz they are both good in chinese and english. yun nga lang, nasosobrahan sa chinese. e hello? sa tutuong buhay hindi naman natin kailangan ang sobrang info about chinese history noh! imagine, they study the map of china..yung mga rivers dun... duh? sobrang aral.. mga nerd na tuloy. pero in fairness, may mga na-meet ako sa college na hindi naman nerd..masisipag lang sila. yun na kasi ang nakasanayan. ang problem lang talaga ng st jude e mahina talaga sila sa sports. dapat kasi balance eh.. mas ok. para hindi naman puro aral..nakakabaliw yun noh...

that's ol... :)

For me CKSC, pero i think time ko pa yun, ok. Now i dont know, they say puro GI na raw dun eh, wel magaling nga naman kc ang CKSC ako nga d nakatagal dun eh, hehehe. Sobrang hirap ng chinese dun, for example ngyn binigay yung reviewer mo or lecture or lesson, then kinabukasan test agad, as in super hirap ang haba pa. Wel ***** for me mahirap kc mahina ako, pero sa iba i dunno nalang. CKSC simply the best.

well sa tingin ko the best chinese sch is st. jude in terms of academics but still uhs is the best when it comes to discipline because i've known plenty of judenites pero nde talaga okay ugali ng most of them. hehehe sorry guys:) pero trust me it's true. judenites ang sis ko hehehe :) well for the rest of the schs well la akong masabi except that maraming galing sa uhs na lumipat sa ibang sch and turn out to be good students in all aspects a mapacheerleading, academics, leadership, etc. wherein nung nasa uhs sila e bagsakan and nde active.
