I'm having a bad case of dandruffs :eyecrazy:

The thing is, i NEVER had them when i was in Manila... but when i came over to the States, i just cant seem to get rid of them! :surprised:

Anti-dandruff shampoos dont work and only makes it worse! HELLLPPPP!!!!

ow we have the same experience. my theory is that the water in the states make the hair dry thus dandruff develops. the only dandruff shampoo that seems to be working for me is selson blue. there's a moisturizing one which i think you can use everyday that doesn't smell bad. you might wanna try that.

Baka naman nasa malamig na area ka ng US. Madali kasing mag-dry ang skin kapag malamig ang weather at ganun din ang scalp. I think those popular brands of anti-dandruff shampoo won't solve your bad case of dandruffs kahit pa gumamit ka ng conditioner na anti-dandruff din. Try those brands specially formulated for worst case of dandruffs e.g. Neutrogena, the one with coal tar. There are other brands available like Polytar (basta check the label kung may coal tar). These brands are serious in fighting dandrufs, huwag lang gamitin araw-araw at baka makalbo ka. Use it every other day muna then if you notice that it's working, puwedeng twice a week then once a week na lang.

Avoid also scratching your dry scalp dahil it's just going to traumatize your scalp and it will even take longer to heal.

It's like the *** in cold weather. It gets dry & flake off eventually. If you scratch it, it'll get worse. You should moisturize it by using conditioners.

simple lang yan. *** dandruff ko tanggal agad. here's how.

Pour apple cider vinegar on the scalp, massage, let dry for a few minutes then wash as normal. Repeat this process every day until dandruff disappears (usually within a week).

that's it. simple, inexpensive and safe pa.

apple cider? hmmm... ngayon ko lang narinig to...

me effect ba pag shinampoo ko after? o di pwede?

purple0ten
Apr 1, 2005, 03:25 PM
yup. effective yan and nope walang effect pag shinampo mo after.

sa totoo lang, contrary to popular notions, dandruff is usually a result of too much oiliness of the skin and scalp rather than dryness. while mild dandruff may be caused by overactive oil glands, recent evidence suggests that the more severe dandruff associated with seborrheic dermatitis may be caused by an overabundance of Pityrosporum ovale, a yeast-like organism found on healthy scalp in low numbers. with the increased scaling and oiliness of seborrheic dermatitis, these yeast organisms thrive and multiply, aggravating inflammation and scaling.

try mo, wala namang mawawala dba.

I swear by Head and Shoulders kase eh...it has been effective for me. But I do heard that cold weather can dry up scalp thus causing dandruff so maybe kulang lang sa moist *** scalp mo thus maybe helpful if you use intensive scalp and hair conditioners...I think they have this kind of product in the market. :D

I think Anti-fungal should work.

Apr 2, 2005, 04:05 PM
Try Ionil shampoo.

That might be Seborrhoeic Dermatitis which I think is hereditary. A dermatologist told me that you cannot get rid of it. You can only control it. It comes and go especially during colder season.

You better consult a dermatologist if anything mentioned here doesn't work. :)

sometimes we get dandruff because our shampoo is too strong or too thick. we dont wash it out well so the shampoo builds up.

Stiefel's Stieprox is said to be effective against dandruff. I haven't used it yet, but am planning to. :) I'm currently using Head and Shoulders.
My dandruff is caused by using a shampoo several days in succession, kelangan lagi akong nagsi-switch every three days. Then I use H&S in between.

try head and shoulders, and then order coco puro at 09178563750.. its cheap lang naman P350 for 1 liter already. they will charge you a minimal del charge though, 50 for ortigas and makati.. but at least the products work naman.. so go go!

nizoral maximum treatment. you apply it on your scalp and let it sit there for 15-20 minutes. then rinse. do this twice a week. in two weeks wala na dandruff mo. to continue controlling it, you have to do it once a week. also, extra virgin coconut oil helps.

goodluck!

stress, pollution, cold weather and intake of medications that dries the skin all cause dandruff.

there are several shampoos/medicine that can be used or applied on the scalp. so far, nizoral, for me, is the best but it dried my hair.

alternately, you can manually remove the flakes by using a fine-tooth comb. with this method, you arent just removing the visually irritating flakes but also activating the scalp to relase necessary oils.

another way is to use products that will moisturize the scalp. virgin coco oil is a good one. creams with apricot kernels/beads are also an effective therapy as this "scrubs" or exfoliates the surface and thereby removing the flakes. Hot oil treatment is an excellent treatment for the hair as well as your scalp, coz the steam together with the hot oil cream moisturizes the dry scalp.

mane and tail shampoo works for me.i also get dandruffs when using styling products and not be able to wash it overnight(lol).nizoral is effective but my sis who is a doctor, talked me out of it because she says that nizoral accumulates on the liver overtime and is bad for the health.

you may try this if you want:
kerastase - pricey
virgen coconut oil - very affordable
both can help with your dandruff problem! try no lang kung saan kayo hiyang effective kasi yan sa brother ko! nagpaderma sya hindi rin sya hiyang dun sa binigay na gamot so gamit na lang nya yong kerastase or vco.

Ok nga raw VCO. Kahit baby oil. Apply it before going to sleep.

remember: you only need a dollop of shampoo (about the size of a 50c coin on your palm). rub the shampoo into your scalp with your fingers, NOT your nails. rinse thoroughly.

use NIZORAL SHAMPOO at least 3x a week for 2 weeks. effective yan.

also always think positive and live a stress-free life. stress contributes a lot to dandruff.
