I think it's really pathetic when students call student of other schools "pathetic, bobo" etc. and stuff. It just shows that some people have small minds...

School rivalry sucks. As much as possible, we should avoid using harsh words when describing other schools. Using harsh words only reflects our own insecurites.
Personally, I feel ashamed of my fellow La Sallians, whenever they insult those that come from other schools.
Remember we all belong to Universities, "institutions of higher learning."
Insulting other schools will only prove one's imaturity.

in the end, if schools make themselves better, we all win, right? quality education everywhere. and that is the direction we must take for progress.

*Note: author is studying in DLSU and can personally attest that the DLSU-ADMU rivalry was only blown out of proportions by the media for the UAAP coverage. Surprised about the testimonials though. Thankful nalang that I have very good and civilized friends from both schools.. Btw be it Atenean or La Sallian, if someone flames you, take it out on him/her and not to whom someone he/she shares a commonality with (i.e. school). Makes sense, diba?

Actually, there are some advantages and also some disadvantages when it comes to this. First of all, advantage # 1: You get a healthy competition here. Reaching out to be the best, proving that you're one of the universities at the top. and so on and so forth.

The disadvantages: Healthy competition gets bloody... really bad... and to think that if you have something to be proud of, you don't go bashing other people about we're the best and you're not and you don't go saying nasty things about the school of others. When you're confident that your institution has a lot to say and you know it, you don't get insecure about other people and what other people might say to you.

If you know it, you know it. You don't give a d@mn about what others say about it.
Because deep in your heart, you know that your university is one of the best.

By the way, it's not all the time that your school will be on top. NOT ALL THE TIME. There will be times that some university outdone you. but that's life.

school rivalries are healthy in the sense that they drive competition. mutual respect na lang, kasi some of them really dont hate you of your school. he/she was just doing for their what you would do for your school (tama ba?), especially if they give you a good fight, doon ang todo respect.

but then again, there are certain individuals (which we, particularly me, can all do without) who give a bad name to love or whatever they belong to. tsk tsk.

For me, it is a waste of time and money. As it is, Philippine schools already do badly compared to Asian counterparts. What should be done is a strategy where schools work together towards national development. This was done in many Asian countries and contributed to economic success.

school rivalry is pointless and fruitless in the sense that it is merely stirred up by the inferiors' attempt to promote their battered ego, and the superiors' stimulus to reinforce their preestablished supremacy.

at wala tong kwenta kasi tertiary education in the Philippines is all about the dignity of the University of the Philippines and the drama of 'others'.
