I came from B.A.S.!!! I never knew they changed the name of the school until just recently, cuz I left that school when I was only in 5th grade to come study in the U.S. Too bad.....
Hehe I remember eating that taco-thing they sold in the canteen like every single friggin day! Also, me and my friends would hangout in the grade school library once in a while cuz it was airconditioned =P....what memories!
I still keep in touch with my friends from there up to now.(they graduated hs a couple years ago) Too bad I wasn't around to see the newly built college though...I never fathomed the idea they were going to build a college in that empty field by the covered courts cuz I knew that's where the old girl scouts used to camp out. Haha did you ever hear the rumor about an ogre or kapre supposedly living there? LoL! Oh wellz!
Sorry you guys...I'm just reminiscing cuz I really miss that school a lot...I wish I could go visit again one day cuz unfortunately, my last attempt in 1997 was a disaster. *sigh* By the way, have you guys heard of the Bay Area based singing group Pinay? One of the members also came from B.A.S.! (or SBC)

Thanks for your responses, fellow Bedans and friends! I'm from High School batch 1995-1996 LiaCom. Yung batch na may "spirit possession". Well, some of my famous batchmates include Ryan Agoncillo, Mohini (a.k.a. Monina) Bagatsing, Joanna Dizon, Michelle Ballesca, and myself (ambishoso!). They're not famous as in "famous", coz most of them are commercial models.

Hey, Ms. Anonymous, I hope you can visit our Alma Mater soon. It has changed greatly especially with the newly built 21st century sports complex (w/ an olympic size swimming pool) and all. Yes, I know the singing group Pinay. Oh boy.

BTW, I also a college garduate of Bene, Batch 2000!

if you remember the movie HATAW NA, the school na nirepresent duon was st. benedict,and as it was presented,the students were believed to be kicked outs and riot is everywhere,as if the student were unsophisticated and immoral in values,most especially the way they treat their profs.,but before anything else i would like to remind you that im not after an arguement,just wanna know your reaction on how your going to defend your school,and also i dont believe that coz my school as well is also a victim of that misconception by the narrow-minded jabronis,im from benilde nga pala.

it's just a movie.. what it portrays doesn't prove anything.. you know how in films they usually have a disclaimer at the end saying that any resemblance to any person, living or dead is just purely coincidence.. so a school isn't actually a person but it's kinda like the same thing.. just because they used the name st. benedict as the name of the school in the film doesn't mean it's the same as our school..

apparently there was this group of girls na pwede nang magtayo ng fan club para sa basketball team ng southridge! talaga namang every game, mapa-bene man or kahit sa ibang school, nanonood yung barkadahan na yon. as in all out support sila! parang laging may cheering squad na nanonood everytime may game ang southridge. wala namang masama dito pero nangyari kasi nawawalan na daw ng mga gamit (like towel and school diary) nung mga sr bball players and ang sinasabi nilang kumuha ay yung mga girls nga daw from bene. dagdagan mo pa na lagi silang nanonood rin ng kahit practice at syempre na-irita na yung mga players and coach kasi pati yon di pinatawad.

I've stidied in BAS(Benedictine Abbey School) from Kindergarten to 3rd year HS'80-'91 then moved to De La Salle-Zobel, and the only thing I could say bout Bene is that academically, it's one the top schools in the south Manila Area, in UP where I studied Bedan constitute a large majority compared to studentsfrom other school. ORA ET LABORA.

Please do not use San Beda College, because it only pertains to the Lions of Mendiola. ---> it is not the fault of the school,it has just become trad'n because san beda is the brother school of benedictine abbey. saint bede is a benedictine. in other words, he was someone who followed the teachings of st benedict. i believe students of BAS (SBC? they had to change their name right? what a wrong move) just felt the need to honor st. bede as well.

Bedan only applies to males. Females of the College of Law. That is, of Mendiola. Near Malacañang, not South superhighway.

u know, ppl from other schools hate us because of ur batch. i don't know why ur hyperactive when there's really nothing to be active about. probably now that ur in college eh u already know what kind of reputation u have earned the school. delinquent batch. full of teenage pregnancies. i dont get ur batch. my sister is from batch 99 and her batch is rather fine. my sister aced all the entrance tests she took (up, admu, dlsu, ua&p) and she's not even an honor student. their batch produced a lot of scholars - from ateneo to lasalle (star scholars...there are a lot of them who were offered just that), even UP diliman (yes, an oblation scholar). i really believe that academically bene is better than zobel (most of her friends from zobel who are also studying in the school she chose had to take basic subjects- english, math, etc. and they keep on failing too. on the other hand, most of her bene friends didn't have to go through such humiliation. i admit there were some who had to. but that's not because theyr dumb. rather, theyr lazy. a bene trait which has to go) but ppl think otherwise because u project such an ugly outlook. most of u may be smart but u lack to show it properly. most of you dont even know what the meaning of 'class'. shame on you.

our batch?! what the hell did we do?! a lot of pregnancies?! i only know of one who got pregnant in our batch. as for delinquent.. ok so some have been quite rowdy but not all of us. they're still some of us who are good.

if you really believe all that you had said.. then prove it. so how many girls did get pregnant from our batch? and what were the acts that made us delinquent? could you kindly share them with us as proof that our batch caused so much shame for our school?

FYI! St. Benedict College is also ran by the same Benedictine congregation who also runs your beloved school. Thus the heritage of "Ora et Labora" is also being taught in our classrooms to this date.

So whether you like it or not, St. Benedict College and San Beda will always be sister's schools including St. Scholastica's College! Even if you think that we are just mere franchise located from the Southern part of Manila, you are very wrong!!!

Btw, did you know that our beloved former rector of St. Benedict College Alabang, Fr. Tarci is now the abbot of San Beda College Mediola? Check your connections and ask them if everything I say is true.

Even if most products of SBC alabang are children from rich families, we, at least, produce prominent students studying in prestigious universities and now successful in their chosen profession. Kaya wag mo kaming i-generalize at i-smolin. Tsaka nde naman lahat brats eh. It only takes a good eye to see one. Perhaps you need to wear glasses my dear PeXer.

Nde naman konyo ang bene ah compare to schools lyk zobel, woodrose and southridge. Rich families?! We are a class-b school! I believe most of us nasa upper b. Kung taga south ka and ur rich I think ur parents would rather enroll u sa dlsz or woodrose or southridge and not sa bene. Yeah may mayayaman and konyo din pero nde lahat. Pero ok naman sa bene ah may nakakapasok din naman sa lasalle-main kahit paano(like me!). Animo lasalle 4ever!

I'm a product of the two Benedictine schools GS & HS Sa Bene, College sa Beda. And all I can say is that the people from Bene never lived up to the name "Bedan." Nung nandun ako we hardly mentioned the word. Only in San Beda did I feel being a BEDAN. Kaya eklat lang yung ginagamit na, "Once a Bedan always a Bedan," yeah right.... and please, wala pa ang Bene, madami nang mga prominent people ang naproduce ng Beda, kapanahunan pa ng mga lolo natin madami na. But i had my share of wonderful memories sa Bene.

though St. Scholastica is considered our sister school, ibang Benedictine branch sila. While the Benedictine monks from San Beda and Bene come from Spain, the Benedictine nuns hail from Germany. Actually, compared to the La Sallian Brothers and the Jesuits na may organized structure- all of their communites globally are connected to each other. A Benedictine community is independent from the other. There is no ONE WHOLE congregation. Kaya medyo apathetic ang St. Scho sa Beda.

u know, ppl from other schools hate us because of ur batch. i don't know why ur hyperactive when there's really nothing to be active about. probably now that ur in college eh u already know what kind of reputation u have earned the school. delinquent batch. full of teenage pregnancies. i dont get ur batch. my sister is from batch 99 and her batch is rather fine. my sister aced all the entrance tests she took (up, admu, dlsu, ua&p) and she's not even an honor student. their batch produced a lot of scholars - from ateneo to lasalle (star scholars...there are a lot of them who were offered just that), even UP diliman (yes, an oblation scholar). i really believe that academically bene is better than zobel (most of her friends from zobel who are also studying in the school she chose had to take basic subjects- english, math, etc. and they keep on failing too. on the other hand, most of her bene friends didn't have to go through such humiliation. i admit there were some who had to. but that's not because theyr dumb. rather, theyr lazy. a bene trait which has to go) but ppl think otherwise because u project such an ugly outlook. most of u may be smart but u lack to show it properly. most of you dont even know what the meaning of 'class'. shame on you.

do you know what you're sayin? as far as i know, isa or dalwa palang ang may baby sa batch namin. sa batch 99 nga merong na find out na buntis siay on the day of graduation kse d ma zipper yung gala! siguro kaya galit kayo sa batch namin kse aside from batch 98, kami lang nag nagback2back champions sa cheering, we even beat your sisters' batch.

yeah, lenny's right. there's no one whole benedictine family. nagkataon lang na twins si st benedict and st scholastica kaya naging sister schools ang st scho and beda. ssc is run by sisters who are under the order of st benedict (osb) ganun din sas bene and beda pero monks sila. one last hing, hindi FRANCHISE ang bene!

:angel: you can say whatever you want but still st. scho is stil our sis school. besides sila *** nagpoprovide ng female cheerleaders sa NCaa sa san beda..... :) well as far as i know san beda and st scho bonds well and bedans in our school are bonded toghether like a family..... each everyone of us is proud to be a bedan even if they transfer in other school or something, they will always say that they are a bedan.......

First though I would like to apologise on behalf of that Bedan bro on his misuse of words.
Now, well for the mere fact that San Beda is expanding and planning to be a university, IT IS returning to it's former glory. A kind of feat that Bene would never achieve for a long time. And i think, it's quite normal for any human establishment to experience being in the down-turn in it's years of existence, and now San Beda has surpassed that and it's on HER way up again. But San Beda never really sank so low down the pits. And so there are a lot of **** there? So what? There are lots of **** everywhere (to be more politically correct "guys liking other guys"), even Ateneo and La Salle has them. Are you homophob? That is the old notion. Now, it's not only the school that counts it also depends on the students as well. Maybe SAn Beda is not among the top three schools, because what you mentioned are the top 3 UNIVERSITIES, San Beda is still a college. But even if we're not as big as these schools, the Bedan graduates are still competitive and confident enough to go head to head with your graduates. You're still a student so you wouldn't know, would you? Animo SAn Beda!!!!

It's suppose to be, "Guess St. Benedict and San Beda ARE loving this little fued blah blah." And please, just because you're from DLSU it doesn't mean you're that great. BAD apples still come from good trees. And when you graduate from your green school of yours think this, they would not only look where you graduated from, they would also see you as a person over all. So kung ang ipagmamalaki mo lang sa credentials mo e taga DLSU ka lang, but as a person overall you stink - it won't cut it. Saka wag mong maliitin ang mga ibang universities sa probinsya, madaming matatalinong tao dun like sa Siliman University, etc, kayang kaya ka nilang taubin.

And I really think that bene have to higher its standards, mababa eh compare to schools like southridge, woodrose, dlsz. Mababa tingin ng iba sa bene eh I dont blame them its time to improve our standards.

if nagpapadrugtest ang san beda that would be every may (enrollment, before the june), also as one of the requirements in enrollment in san beda. eh kyo (bene) nag pa drugtest last december. *** nag proposed ng drugtest ang dyn sa bene, that was because may nahuliang daw nagdradrugs dyan!!!

*** sinasabi nmn ni giftedchild na 'jologs' ay tungkol sa mga nagdradrugs ad sexual harrassment.

I admit I am not exactly the proudest bene alumni ( I love lasalle so much more even though ngayun college lang ako nag lasalle incoming 4th year na ako btw). Pero malaking boost ito sa image nang bene if we can have an alumni sa senate. Kahit sa mga hindi taga bene ( or anti bene) dito please vote for her di hamak naman na mas qualified siya dun sa ibang candidates diba. Also please vote for the smile party list.
