My take on why parents should not enrol their kids in schools like UP, ADMU and DLSU

i have read the posts made in the "Academe" thread and contributed some posts (or opinions) of my own. i've seen the school bashing that's becoming nastier and nastier. these coming from people who claim their school is the best in the land.
However, after have read the posts here for some time, i have come to a personal conclusion that if i have a son or daughter, i will not enrol them in schools like UP, ADMU and DLSU. Why? i do not want them to turn into some of the nicks here who have serious character flaws and really need professional help. just imagine, being so mayabang, dishonest and prejudicial for superficial stuff like the achievements of their schools of which they do not have any part of its success, and discredting or downplaying the accomplishments of other schools can be their undoing at some point. kahit na they are considered the "big three," kung ganyan din naman ang kauuwian ng mga anak ko, if i have any, 'di bale na lang.

Hasty generalization. I don't want to sound mayabang, but I think you should realize that there are good and bad tomnatoes even in ethe most prestigious universities in tehe world. Harvard, Oxford, ANU, name it, these unis have also their share of not-so good students but it does not affect their long established academic reputation anyway.

The bashers here are just a loud minority. You could even count them by your fingers. Compare this puny number with the schools' total populations and you will see that they are very, very, insignificant -- in every sense of the word.

Don't worry about your kids being swayed by negative external influences. As long as you are there as parents guiding them on what is wrong and right, I don't think there would be any problem.

And yes, I agree. The success of the person does not come from where he studied, but from what he alone achieved. The school can only be proud of alumnus, but they cannot say that they alone have molded that individual.
