hi! just wondering if there's anyone here who's tried the HEAT WAVE at ricky reyes salon.
it's basically a treatment that will let your hair have soft waves. it's not a perm :)
i see a lot of models/actresses sporting this kind of hair. marami na kasing ayaw magpa rebond.
i inquired at RR for this treatment but they said they ran out of the product they use. so wala pa ngayon. pero baka sakaling meron nang nakasubok...please post your reactions! :crazytongue:

Is that what Kris Aquino does to her hair? I like the soft curls.

i couldn't wait to have it done at ricky reyes. sabi nila mga one month lang daw yung tagal ng treatment. seems pretty expensive at 3k...
i had something done like it at a smaller and lesser known salon. i was really satisfied! :) i guess it helps cause my hair is already wavy.

Isn't there anything more... permanent? :) Nagsawa na ako sa pagpapa-straight. Hassle.

wait! heat wave is designed specifically for hair that is previously rebonded. Rebonded hair contains more cystein bonds and it's often difficult to re-perm using cold wave technique (ordinary perm). Then enter the heat wave, that makes use of the same old perming ingredient (thioglycolate ) but with heat protecting additives and the use of heating machine to create waves. These heated rods substitute the hot iron for creating the new shape of your hair.
but if your hair is virgin, i recommend you go for ordinary perm. If you insist for loose curls, then ask your stylist to use bigger perm rods, para mukang heat wave-effect. sosyal dba?
not because heat wave is the "in" thing today, you also have to consider the science behind it, and who is it really for. but im not saying that virgin hair cannot take heat wave, it's just that why would you spend that amount of money when you can have the ordinary one (cold wave to be exact) at a fraction of the cost.
pretty_patty, what do you mean by your line pagpapa-straight? as in regular relaxer/straightener that contains sodium hydroxide? A BIG NO. u can't perm hair that has been straightened/relaxed with sodium hydroxide (lye). and even if your stylist tells you CAN, i'm telling you it's a big lie.
even after 3 months of relaxing/straightening, perm can not take on this treated hair. and vice versa, u can't straighten/relax with sodium hydroxide the hair that has been permed or rebonded.
** maraming persistent na stylists na nagsasabing pde un, basta atlis 3 months na. NO, NO, NO. alam mo kung anong manyayari pag ginawa un? the hair quickly reacts to the solution (ammonium thioglycolate vs sodium hydroxide) and it often breaks, damages, or worst, MELTS! nakakita na ako ng ganyang case at kawawa tlaga *** customer. napaflat top tuloy sha ng di oras.

Oh, gee, Iunno what's in the formula they used. My mom was the one who dragged me to Freshaire for the treatment. It's been a year na rin.

dude you seem to know a lot about perms... so anyway, do you suggest a COLD PERM for "virgin hair"?? My hair has been sun-fried under a swimming pool for 2 months and I had CELLOPHANE once. Those are the harshest things its ever experienced. I know getting a perm can damage hair, just like rebonding, etc.. What sort of perm can I get that won't damage it as much??
