Hi guys! I had a similar thread on WHAT'S UP DOC, but that was months ago so i think it got trashed already. I'm an incoming Freshman at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of UST this June... do I have any batchmates among the PExers? From UST or any medical school for that matter... and other medical students... let's get together in this thread!!! :)

Hi Spanky! Yupyup, it's been some time since my last post...my password was in the other computer, and now i have it... you're going to DLSU Med right? Good luck to you too! A friend of mine applied there, but now it's out of the question after his father learned that La Salle's tuition's (50K)almost like UST's... :(

LOL, not all medical students, Les. Just that you have a higher risk of catching diseases in PGH due to the huge number of patients there compared to other med schools. :D

Better late than never...sorry I couldn't post earlier. Anyway my current preoccupation for the past weeks was finding a good boarding house. We were finally able to find one really cheap but we have to fix it up.

By the way, do other med schools ask their students to take so many shots? Hepa A and B, MMR, DT, etc.

Les: I had to take Hepa B shots too, coz my titer results showed the ones i completed were already non-reactive. About MMR and DT, if i recall correctly, I didn't get those shots from UST Health services, but i got them before, upon my mom's advice, who is an internist. :D

Les: Doc Ira's right. You DO need those shots. If you want to save on money, you might want to postpone your shots until proper. There were several free immunization campaigns when I was in 1st and 2nd year proper. Some vaccines were given free and some were given at a discount price. Sorry, can't remember exactly what vaccines. Basta I'm sure walang DT, because I still haven't had my shot for that up to now.

I guess i won't be seeing you at all. Clerk na kasi ako (in other words, 4th year) and I'm in the hospital most of the time. Nasa school lang kami when there is "grand rounds" and sa 3rd year mo pa ma-eexperience 'yung grand rounds. :)

Kath, by the way, I beg to disagree. Which med school did you say is the best? Think again, please. Also, since you're gonna enrol (or have you enrolled already?) in UST, you might as well know, STUH-CD stands for Santo Tomas University Hospital-Clinical Division and not "Charity Division". Elijah: I think you got your FRATS mixed up or baka "sobra" lang mag-kwento and mga cousins mo to entice you. Anyway, I think your talking about the "MEDIGRAS" which is sponsored by the Phi Sigma Gamma Fraternity. It is held every medweek, usually after the 1st quarter exams. As far as the Tau Mu is concerned, i think they have their "Billiards Booth" every medweek. That's just about what I can say about them because they have this "Starex Raffle" pero 3 as in THREE years na wala paring bolahang nangyari. But then again I might be wrong, baka may "bolahan" ng nangyari. Ang mahal pa ng tickets, I bought three pa nga, kse may friend din akong Tau Mu. Kung puro party and gimmick ang hanap mo join Zeta Beta Mu, sila 'yung ultimate party people.Kung gusto mong simple at hindi showy join the Sigma Beta Tau Phi-TITANS, they always have the biggest and most successful fund-raising projects, most number of medical missions, and I heard they are the only fraternity who owns their own frathouse. Bavard: there was an official ranking of schools, like which ranked as #1 in Engineering, in Business and Accountancy, etc.. at the Inquirer (that, or the Star or MB) last year, and UP-PGH came out as #1 for Medical Education, with UST placing as second, and CIM (in Cebu) ranked #3.. :) Was just stating some facts, bavard. btw, thank you for clearing up STUH-CD. :) I've always referred to it just as the "charity hospital" to differentiate it from the "pay hospital", like my mother always refers it to. :D Yup, i've enrolled already, all set for classes on June 13. BTW, what can you say about the sororities at UST-Med? Hope you can provide me a little "review" just as what you did about the UST-Med frats. :)

Clefairy: I'm (was, i guess) a part of that too! Lingkod e.r. decided to extend to the Provincial Hospital in Bacolod City, and I was tapped to head the student org. over there. So I headed it since October of 1999 and handed it over to the next batch of student volunteers after I graduated my pre-med last march. :) I met Luisa already, she's now a clerk at UST... batchmate ni Bavard. :)

Kath: You don't ALWAYS have to rely on surveys and rating. I mean whenever you enrol in a particular school (not necessarily UST) your loyalty should be for that school. Since bago-bagong Tomasino ka palang, you still haven't embraced the Thomasian values, and ideals. But once you get to feel how it is like to be a Thomasian I'm sure magbabago rin ang views mo. With regards to the sororities, Sigma Tau Delta is the is the sister sor of the Tau Mu. They are the pioneer sorority. Ok din sila , with varied activities. Theta Lambda Phi ang counterpart ng Phi Sigma Gamma, ang activities nila mostly tied up with their brods. Alpha Delta Mu sis ng mga Zeta, siyempre the ultimate party babes, mga sosi-sosi, japorms and everything. Mu Sigma Epsilon, sis ng Gamma Beta Epsilon, sila ang youngest, founded mga 5 years ago lang. Sigma Beta Tau Phi-TITANS and Scintilla Juris walang Sis reason nila para daw available sila sa lahat ng hihingi ng tulong sorority man or ibang orgs. http://www.pinoyexchange.com/evil.gif

Ey, everyone!!! I thought this topic would be dead already, since its birth almost a year ago!

Well, for those who've been following the forum, I cannot express how OVERJOYED (and relieved!!!) I am to have finished first year medicine. And I wasn't wrong about those literally SLEEPLESS nights I had to endure. Not to mention dreading Neuroanatomy long quizzes, Anatomy post-tests, physio exams, etc., etc., etc... (don't remind me, please)

For other med students who made it as well, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! We are one year closer to the much coveted "M.D."!!!
For the incoming clerks, enjoy the last few days before your CLERKSHIP YEAR (tadadadannnnnnn!!!) starts
and for the incoming third year's.... enjoy your LAST NORMAL SUMMER. ;)

I won't ask abt d skul & life in cav. coz i'm from d much talked-abt dlsu campus of dlsu-dasma hehe. i've seen dlsu-hsc grew fr it's humble beginnings to its continuous developments now.
