Ako I decided to study here in DLSU because I'm quite confident na DLSU is very good in engineering courses. Also, I wanted to continue my La Sallian education.
How about you guys? :)

Well I decided to study at De La Salle because I believe that it has a strong educational background in terms of engineeirng courses. It has a very good academic re****tion and it has very good network with different firms. I just hate the traffic... Well.. its simply cool to be in La Salle. Well.. another thing ... its De La Salle..the name i should say.

Since I wanted to take business management I wanted to take it at the best Philippine university that offers it - DLSU-Manila.

Even if I also passed UP-Diliman, honestly I got turned-off by UP's re****tion of Frat Hazings/Killings, radicalism and bad campus
security.

As for me I took only Two(2) College Entrance Tests namely UP-Diliman & DLSU-Manila.

While I passed BOTH, I decided to go to DLSU-Manila for the ff. reasons:

1. Since I wanted to take up Engineering, I believe that DLSU-Manila offers the BEST engineering program in the Philippines.

2. Since I have studied in Catholic Schools since Kinder, I wanted to go to a Catholic university.

3. Lastly, I wanted quite frankly to study in a safer and less radical campus.

i decided to study at the ateneo because of two reasons:

1. although i passed up, i didnt get into the course of my choice.

2. ateneo has very good facilities that i need.

Was anyone of you who was forced to enroll in his/her current college? Just curious.

As for me since I wanted to take up Accounting, it was a choice ONLY between DLSU-Manila and UP-Diliman.

While I passed both schools' freshman entrance exams, I opted for DLSU-Manila since I felt that DLSU-Manila offers the best Accounting program in the country.

In the 1993 CPA Board Exams which I took after I graduated from DLSU-Manila, De La
Salle topped that year's CPA exams taking 16 out of the Top 20 including the 1st place.

Since Jr. Prep LaSalle na ako, and I've already incorporated the LaSallian way of living into my everyday life. Memorize ko ang vision-mission statement. I believe that I have the 5 Cs of a LaSallian. And most importantly, memorize ko ang lahat ng cheers para well-equipped ako pag UAAp games. Studying in any other school would have been unthinkable.

I really wanted to study at Ateneo however my Dad insisted I study in UP. Couldn't do anything much about it, I was an Iskolar ng Magulang. :D :D

Anyway, I wanted to study somewhere near my home in Marikina so it was Ateneo or UP for me. :D

I wanted to finish Medicine in the shortest possible time so I applied to UP's Intarmed program and was one of the 40 accepted that year. Also, didn't want to take Medicine anywhere else - I didn't apply to any other University or any other course within UP so it was UP or bust. Brother Roly Dizon told me than he would take me at DLSU even if I hadn't taken the entrance exam - I was in DLSU Taft for GS and LSGH for HS so I guess that was sort of my fallback.

Since I wanted to take up Computer Science I decided to take it in DLSU-Manila since I believe that it offers the best Computer Science course in the country compared to UP-Diliman and Ateneo de Manila (the only other schools I considered).

1. My parents are paying for my tuition & they wanted me to go to this university. I really had not choice. :p
2. It's faaaaaar away from home so I get a fresh start and meet new people.
3. It's a good school with good high standards, pretty well-known. (It's currently the #1 sober school in the US. Sparkling cider anyone? LOL...)
4. It's not that pricey, which is a major plus, but still has a great learning system.
5. It's faaaar away from my Kuya, who I'm sure would watch me like a hawk if I were in the same state as him. hehe... :D

It should always depend on which course you want to get into, nothing else. If you don't get into your first choice, choose the next best option for your course, not the second best school that has a name.

Since I started in De La Salle since I was Prep they was NO doubt at all in my mind where I would go for my college - ONLY at De La Salle University Manila where I took mechanical engineering.

The Christian Brothers since I was in Prep had always instilled in us the values of ALWAYS being FAIR to anyone in anything we do BUT ALWAYS TO STRIVE FOR THE BEST AND AIM TO BE THE BEST IN ANYTHING WE DO.

These are the basic principles of De La Salle University Manila and the De La Salle Cgristian Brothers.

nag-exam din ako sa ateneo, pero medyo only choice ang up para sa akin dahil wala kaming pera. kung hindi rin ako bibigyan ng scholarship, hindi ako pwedeng mag-aral sa ateneo or dlsu. tapos, yung iba pang dahilan: hindi ako katoliko, hindi ako mahilig sa philosophy or theology, ayokong mag-uniform o magsuot ng id, malayo at ma-traffic sa maynila, at ok naman ang eng'g sa up. :)

Twas a choice between humanities at the Ateneo or computer science at La Salle. Believe me, it was a hard choice because these two schools are very good at these two courses.

Well, my mother didn't want me to take humanities because she said she was worried about job oppertunities in the future (she's from UP by the way, and would rather I went to UP, pero bagsak ako :D). My father wanted me to go to La Salle because that's where he graduated grade school and high school from (when it was still in Taft).

Then my dad died, so I decided to honor his wishes. Thus I enrolled in La Salle.

I have no regrets :)

I only took the UP, Ateneo and La Salle entrance exams...I flunked UP, I got waitlisted in Ateneo and I passed La Salle. However, that hardly made up the reason why I opted for the latter...it must have been all the convictions and allegations that in La Salle, even with the high academic standards you are reaping, your social life is never at stake. :) What do you know? These were all true.

why:

1) WALA as in WALA ng kuwenta ang DLSU

2) mayayabang na ang mga LASALLISTA
kaya masama na ang impression

3) hindi challenging ang mga courses

in short: mga fellow lasallians, BULOK NA PO ANG DLSU

Since Ateneo and Santo Tomas are both good in the Humanities, I decided to take their respective entrance exams. Luckily, I passed them both.

Grabe, ang hirap mag decide. I carefully weighed the merits of both schools.

Admittedly, I was enamored by the beauty of UST. European talaga ang dating.

Since I wanted to take up Humanities and UST was established under a European model university where philosophy, theology and literature take preeminence- I opted to go there.

I spent my primary education in Xavier (a Jesuit-run). I must say that Dominicans are more brilliant than the Jesuits. Maybe because of their upbringing - masyadong centered sa philosophy ni St. Thomas Aquinas.

Now, Im happy to be included in the roster of Thomasian Alumni some of whom presidents of the republic, revolutionaries, national heroes, chief justices of the supreme court, and a few saints!

It was actually a toss-up between either Ate or UST, bec. nandoon yung mga courses na gusto ko. I didn't get a choice, though, nung nalaman namin na may scholarship pala akong nakuha sa Ate (UST kailangan daw pagpasok na tsaka mag-apply)--my relatives would have strangled me if I'd dared to turn that down...so Ate na talaga.
Hey, I'm not complaining! I love Ate--it always gives more than one expects (too bad that also applies to sch work!) :), n the place has something about it that really sinks into ur bones n makes it unforgettable.

I passed the UPCAT, kaya lang I never passed the course I wanted. In the first place, I never wanted to go to UP (think: security and radicalism...not to mention my family is REALLY conservative), kaya lang, required talaga na kumuha sa high school ko eh- Phil Sci.
I originally wanted to go to Ateneo...well because I love writing and all...and they say Ateneo is really buried to the neck with term papers and writing activities( which I crave)... even though I was required by my Phil Sci agreement to take a Science course, pero...even if you are majoring in a science course, you can still get to take Liberal Arts subjects di ba? Unfortunately, I only got waitlisted. So I never bothered pursuing ADMU.
Even before I took all the college entrance exams to all the good universities, my mother REALLY wanted me to enter DLSU. She surveyed her friends' and acquaintances' opinions and as most people probably agree, DLSU has a VERY good image. (Oh well, I'm not 100% sure about that now...what with the DECS issue and all....but I haven't regreted my decision, ever..the Asiaweek Survey proves that.hehe..) :)
Ako, I took the DLSU entrance exams originally WITHOUT a hint of entering the school...but since the course I applied to was VERY unique (when my classmates asked me what my course was, they were almost always in awe...hehe..)...my decision didn't take long. I'm not going to tell my course here...but suffice to say it's in the COS. :)
So....yun. With its good wholesome image....its stunning athletics and breathtaking buildings...who could resist DLSU?
Animo La Salle! :)

It was an eye-opener of what Ateneo can offer and how Ateneo creates credible and well-formed graduates....if I were you peeps, if given the chance to take the ACET after junior year in high school, take it! Be a part of the AJSS and go to ADMU for college! Ad Majorem De Gloriam!!!

I took the entrace exams of UP and DLSU. I chose ME and ECE in UP all the while knowing that I wouldn't fair that well in Math. In short I failed the UPCAT. I didn't take the UPCAT seriously. Oh, maybe I did. I never liked to go to UP anyways, one reason is that I wasn't sure I could handle the pressure. I had no other choice. DLSU had given GH people priority. I got my first choice and I'm enjoying my life so far. Getting a double degree in 5 years is a great deal, and it's a deal anybody has to work hard for. But God provides help to those willing to help themselves.

I only took two College Entrance Tests - that of UP-Diliman and DLSU-Manila. I passed them both.

Ateneo was never an option for me since it didn't offer the real Engineering courses I wanted to take like Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Industrial Engineering.

In the end I opted for DLSU-Manila since I believed (and still believe now) that it is better than UP-Diliman in Engineering and since I wanted to study in a Catholic university. Also I got turned off by the radicalism and occasional killings/rumbles in the UP-Diliman campus.

I would recommend DLSU-Manila to all my relatives and acquaintances anytime. It is the BEST in the Philippines in the college courses that it offers.

Fortunately for me, I passed both the schools I wished to consider for enrollment, which was De La Salle University-Manila and Ateneo de Manila University. Being a product of a lifetime of La Sallian education, I opted to go to Ateneo because I wanted to experience something new. And it would have looked impressive having a background in both La Sallian and Atenean education in my resume.

The course I passed in Ateneo was BS Management, while the course I passed in La Salle was BS Commerce major in Management of Financial Institutions. All my life, I've wanted to take a business course. And because I passed Ateneo, I thought that all my dreams had come true. But when my parents found out that I wanted to study in Ateneo, they were furious. You see, I live in the south of Manila. And travelling to and from Ateneo would be such a strain in the budget. Moreover, the traffic would be unbearable, especially if my classes would end during rush hour. Basically, Ateneo was just too far and La Salle was just too damn near. But during the time, I didn't see it that way. I was so stubborn that I fought with my parents and didn't speak to them for 2 weeks. But when I finally realized that all the tantrums I have been throwing were futile, I finally gave in to my parents' will. I studied in La Salle.

My first 2 trimesters in La Salle were the worst. Although adjusting to college life was a breeze due to my former La Sallian background, I found it quite difficult accepting to myself that I was in the wrong side of Manila: I was in Taft when I really wanted to be in Katipunan. I never hid from my classmates the fact that I hated my place in La Salle. They all knew I was studying in La Salle against my will. But everything changed, including my feelings towards La Salle, when I met my girlfriend.

She was the best thing that happened to me. She made me feel that La Salle was the right choice. Somehow, fate and destiny had made my coerced choice to study in La Salle a blessing in disguise. When I thought that my life would never get any better, here she comes from under my nose (she was my blockmate) and changes my life forever. I never felt so loved before. She is the reason why I have come to love my Alma Mater once again. Now I thank God that I didn't study in Ateneo because, if I did, I would never have met my significant other.

Now before I get a little more cheesier, the Asiaweek surveys definitely made me think that I made the right choice. And the fact that La Salle has a better business program than Ateneo, makes me feel that I have no more regrets in studying in La Salle. And last but not the least, DLSU's supremacy in the UAAP in terms of basketball also makes me more than proud to say ANIMO LA SALLE whenever I end my posts here in PEx.

So, here we go again...

ANIMO LA SALLE!!!

When I was in high school, I really wanted to take Accountancy, so that my primary choices then were La Salle and UP-Diliman. I took the entrance exams in both universities as well as the Ateneo College Entrance Test. I never really considered Ateneo since it does not offer Accountancy and I never expected to pass the ACET.
When the results were out, I luckily passed all three. So, I was a little bit puzzled where to go. But I was more inclined to go to La Salle, after all, I got my first choice there, which was BSA. But then, a lot of my classmates and friends did not pass the ACET, although almost all of them wanted to go to Ateneo. I reflected and really thought of what to do. Finally, since it was sort of a great achievement for me passing the ACET, I finally decided to study at the Ateneo; I actually felt so lucky having passed the ACET while a lot of my friends did not.
During my first year in the Ateneo, I felt like I placed myself in a living hell. Adjusting to college life was very difficult for me, and not to mention, the strict QPI requirements of the Ateneo. I was so bothered by the fact that I am not allowed to simply get a passing grade (D) in all of my subjects since, if I did, I will eventually get kicked out of the Ateneo. Ateneo requires a QPI that is way above passing. So, I had no choice but to force myself to adjust to the Ateneo educational thrust. Luckily, despite the fact that about 400 of my freshman year batchmates are gone because of QPI problems, I am now in my junior year. And so far, I have no regrets in choosing Ateneo. The Jesuit way has taught me to put my very best and exhaust all of my efforts in order to achieve excellence in academics as well as quasi-academic activities. Having taken Philosophy 101 last semester, I further realized that Ateneo will indeed give me a holistic education, knowing that until I graduate, I will still have to take 3 Philosophy subjects. Philosophy is a core subject of the Ateneo so that regardless of course, each Atenean will have to take 4 Philosophy subjects(same with Theology, 4 Theology subjects). The school's core curriculum is indeed what makes the Jesuit thrust of education different. It does not matter what your course is, whether you're taking up Computer Science, Literature or Management, the Jesuits will really see to it that all of you get to be educated in a uniform way. And that I guess is what best prepares me for the real world. The Ignatian ideals of MAGIS and striving for excellence in whatever field I choose, is what I am particularly proud of. AD MAJOREM DEI GLORIAM!

i took three entrance exams.. the ACET, one fpr DLSU and one
for UA&P. suprisingly, i passed all three.

ever since, i've been wanting to go to UA&P but i found the exam too damn hard.. i was actually quite surprised that i was called for an interview.. meaning i had passed the exam..

i went to the interview and it wasn't really that good so i once again lost hope of going to that school and decided to settle for DLSU instead.

i never really wanted to go to Ateneo because it was too far from where i lived.. i live in the south.. i only took the test to see if i could pass.. i've been hearing that it was the hardest college entrance exam and i just wanted to test my intelligence..

i had already gone to the pre-orientation of DLSU and had set my mind to going there when i get a letter from UA&P saying that i've been accepted..

so then i had a problem..

but still, i chose to study in DLSU for two reasons: they offer the best computer science program and my mom came from that school and i see how successful she is now.. like mother, like daughter..

besides UA&P isn't that well known yet and none of my friends would be going there.. i don't think any of my batchmates even go there now.. i didn't really think i would fit in with the elitist crowd in that school..

I still remember numg mga 6 yrs. old pa lang ako, whenever we pass by DLSU, parati kong sinasabi sa parents ko na dyan ako magaaral ng college. Sabi naman ng parents ko (both my parents are UP graduates) wag daw ako mag aral dyan kasi skul yan ng mga mayayaman na bobo. Ayaw talaga nila akong mag aral sa DLSU.

Tapos I passed the entrance exams of UP, ADMU and DLSU. My dad wanted me to go to UP and my mom wanted me to go to ADMU. Pero ayoko doon... talagang DLSU ang gusto ko. Sabi ko sa kanila, DLSU or nothing... kaya ayun, sa DLSU ako nag aaral ngayon and I'm very happy that I'm a Lasallian.
