hey cool! another incoming freshman! ano course mo?

hehe :)

personally i came from an exclusive school for girls since i was in nursery and i dont think there are any advantages and disadvantages. siguro pwedeng advantage is yung breeding na tinuro for your gender is an advantage because you learn to bring that to college. like yung galing from all-boys, pagdating nila ng college, woo-hoo! gentlemen... yung all-girls, theyre more confident... tapos ang pansin ko lang, although not necessarily true, ang mga active politically sa school are mostly from exclusive schools.
disadvantage...i guess you have to get used to seeing someone other than the same sex when youre in your classes... and sa akin, i had to get used to all those testerone jokes my guy friends are always telling me...****! maniacs-on-the-loose talaga! but co-ed college is really fun... i do hope magenjoy ka... :)

bugsbunny, you're perfectly right in your analysis that people from the exclusive schools are the ones most active in school politics.

In my school, the incoming SC President is from St. Scho. Her rival for the presidency was from Xavier. The incoming SC sec is from ICA, and the incoming Treasurer is from LSGH.

Amazing.

yes, the school where you came from means a lot when you're running for a Student Council position.
exclusive schools are the popular schools in our country. so the school where you came from says a lot about you.
advantages & disadvantages of studying in an exclusive school cannot really be generalized, i think. there are schools which offer a lot of interactions with other exclusive schools, so dealing with the opposite sex isn't that big of a problem.

froshies (term used for freshmen), whether they came from an exclusive school or not, may experience a slight culture-shock once they get into college. it's a whole new ball game from here. you're on your own, kid! better work double time and try to make lots of friends, it really helps. when you get to have lots of friends, you get to know how to deal with diff. kinds of ppl better. don't worry, X-pac, I'm sure you'll get by pretty well. It just takes some time and effort to get used to the "college culture." http://www.pinoyexchange.com/smokin.gif

With the state of secondary public education the way it is now, is there really a disadvantage in going to private schools?

x-pac: im from miriam batch '98. im an incoming junior sa Ateneo.

pero totoo, prepare ka na lang pagdating sa college. wala na yan kung nagprivate school ka pa o hindi. basta always be alert na lang at be careful na wala kang makaaway na upperclassmen. lagot ka nun!
but dont forget to have fun either. ako up to now im still having fun sa college kaya parang i dont want to leave college nga eh.
but dont go lax on your studies naman. do good on your freshman year kaso every year pahirap ng pahirap ang subjects. at least kung hindi ka mag-DL sa junior and senior year mo pwedeng mong masabi na "nag-DL ako ng freshman year ko!"
just keep in mind that you have to be prepared for anything that might come your way. coz college is really really really fun! :D :D :D
