I was a broadcast communication major and my thesis title was "The Initial Effects of the Internet on Television Viewing." I wanted to do a study on the effect of the internet on media, specifically, on TV. The hardest part was looking for related lit, and I found most of it (where else?) online. I also had fun doing my thesis since I only had 20 respondents and I sent out my questionnaire via email. :D

it hasn't been that long ago yet, but for the life of me, i can't exactly remember what the title of our thesis was. basta it was basically on Capsaicin and the effects of different forms of administration on its analgesic effects.
it was really fun because my partner and i had to make "dik-dik" mga 1 kilo of sili (only to find out that we could've done with 1/4 kilo lang). we then injected the extract into mice's tails which we subsequently placed on hot plates. kawawa the mice because their tails got burnt and eventually fell off. some of them were even chewing their own tails off! but it was fun... http://www.pinoyexchange.com/evil.gif

I don't remember the exact title of my pre-med thesis. I think it went like this: 'Freshwater Acclimatization of Sea Water Siganids'. I made sea water fishes adjust to freshwater conditions to make them 'aquarium' fishes. Actually, at that time, the procedure was already commercially done, pero wala pang gumawa ng thesis tungkol doon kaya yun na lang ang sa akin.:smokin:

My thesis was about the Acute Toxicity of Tuba, Makabuhay and Apatot on Golden snails.. the thesis was kinda agricultural, but well, very fesible because there weren't no revisions made when we defended it and I think for those science studs who wants their thesis to be easy and yet significant, try experimenting on plants around that can be a biological pesticides or erradicators of pest or something... :)

UP Psych kasi has no thesis sa undergrad..instead we have comprehensive case studies, reports and papers per Psych class (which is more tedious for me)..
pero eto ang mga fave papers i wrote (individually or with a group)
for Sikolohiyang Pilipino (forgot the title)
something about Pakahulugan ng mga Pilipino sa mga Mental Diseases like sira ulo, kulam, possessions
for Social Reserach
asomething about IDENTIFICATION at ang pakahulugan dito ng mga Pilipino. I studied groups here and i focused on FANS' CLUBs
..i actually joined a fans' club..stayed with them for months to study their group behavior
for Experimental Psych and Social Psych
The Effect of Status and Similarity on Group Identification

My thesis' title was "Managing Mandate Overlaps: A Case Study of the Laguna de Bay Watershed." My undergraduate thesis was more interesting than my masters thesis. For my undergrad, our team investigated the meaning of circumcision for Filipino adolescents. :D The major challenge was writing the paper in Filipino. For my graduate thesis, I investigated the influence of attachment styles, gender and previous counseling experience on attitudes towards seeking psychological help among college students. :)

Did a thesis on fishing communities in Quezon province.
I completed my thesis manuscript in 3 days. No sleep (--- Well, maybe 30 minutes at the most). Hardly ate anything. Smoked 3 packs of cigarettes a day.
The day of defense? I was the first one that morning & I did well I think. I got 1.25. :)

havent graduated yet since I'm doing a double degree but for my ab economics... I made a thesis identifying the characteristics of filipino households vulnerable to economic shocks...
2 weeks with very little sleep were spent on programming our statistical software and ensuring that our results were robust, and another 1-2 weeks were spent writing and editing the paper...
the worst part of the experience was probably the fatigue... the complications we faced on the other hand weren't as bad since we had a really good mentor to guide us.
all the hard work paid off... pass or fail lang ang thesis sa dlsu but lets just say my thesismate and I won 2 awards for the paper... one was in a competition against econ theses submitted by other universities :) didn't expect it whatsoever kaya syempre we were very thrilled ! :)
right now for my finance degree, I'm writing a thesis about the different kinds of correlated trading in the Phil. stock market... mejo masmadugo compared to my econ thesis in terms of data collection pero like the first one... bahala nalang si Lord heheh :)

We did a thesis about the systemic acquired resistance of Lycopersicon esculentum and Solanum melongena signalled by Salicylic Acid.
Almost a year was spent conducting this research. I can't forget those sleepness nights, revisions, endless consultations, & fatigue. Too bad, we didn't win the Best Thesis Award because we weren't able to pass ours on time. Anyway, being the Best in Exhibit in the Science & Technology Week 2000 celebreation in our university is already enough for us. After we're done with our thesis, a professor from UPLB, in connection with the International Rice Research Institute planned to pursue the study but we rejected the offer...by the way, I'm a human biology major. "The Making of Philippine Foreign Policy - The Sabah Claims Under the Macapagal and Marcos Administration."
I did this all alone because I didn't want to make enemies out of thesis writing, and I didn't want any conflict with my ideas. I didn't want a partner grabbing all the credit while I'd be doing all the paperwork. Hassle nga e, even my panelists thought that I was doing a paper about the Sabah Claims so they suggested that I revise my paper (as in major revision - conceptual framework, statement of the problem, interview questionnaires, analysis and conslusion) and I add my list of interviewees (like that Muslim guy from the Political Science Department of UP, former Senator Salonga whom I kept on following up for the interview...but deadline came only for him to say no), and my panelists even asked me why devise such a topic when there are so many theses done in the same topic...so of course I had to clarify that the core of my thesis is all about Philippine foreign policy making - how the foreign policy was fashioned in the crucial times of Malaysia and Philippines having severed diplomatic relations, MAPHILINDO on the brink of its early demise, and when the Jabidah and the Merdeka plans were exposed, eventually reaching the Malaysia's ears.. so kahit papano na-convince ko naman sila.
Sarap nga ng topic ko kasi this practically started the conflict between the Phil. Gov't and Muslim Mindanao... kaso yun na nilagay ko sa scope and delimitations ko na kahit sobrang sarap i-probe, di nalang kasi mashado na hahaba at mawawalan na ng focus.
Shempre walang tulugan yun, lakwatcha muna bago thesis, beer muna bago thesis... :glee: got a 3.5 (CSB had the same grading system with DLSU, baliktad, 4 being the highest) for it kaso I had problems meeting the bloody deadlines (1 week lang o malala, kinabukasan tas nagloloko pa yung computer) kaya naging 3.0 nalang, smoked a ream of cigarettes in one week, drinked too much coffee, (and smoked w**d!)... so ansarap ng feeling nung na-nominate for best thesis kahit di ko nakuha... atleast malaking bagay na yung na-nominate. di nga naman daw kasi makakatulong sa department yung topic kaya di nalang pinili. :freak:
