Just saw this (Manila Bulletin online):

A school is classified as high performing (or with high passing rate) if its OPR is one standard deviation higher than the mean OPR. It is low performing (or with low passing rate) if its OPR is one standard deviation lower than the mean OPR; and zero performing if none of its examinees passed any board examination in the five-year period covered by the study. In this regard, the Professional Regulation Commission lists four leading schools, namely:

1. University of the Philippines - Diliman (with a high passing rate (HPR) in 16 board examinations)
2. University of Santo Tomas (with HPR in 12 board examinations)
3. St. Louis University - Baguio City (11 HPR)
4. Xavier University - Cagayan de Oro City
(11 HPR)

Other schools with high passing rates in six to nine licensure examinations:

Central Philippines University (Iloilo City), Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Silliman University (Dumaguete City), University of the Philippines (Los Baños), Mapua Institute of Technology (Manila), Ateneo de Davao University, De La Salle University (Manila), Mindanao State University (Marawi City), and University of the Philippines (Manila).

The study shows the good performance of some institutions but unmistakably it points to the glaring inefficiencies in the higher education system...

Is PRC credible in saying which schools are good and which are not? Or is HPR a good gauge in telling whether a school is good or not? How about those schools whose degrees don't have board exams? How can PRC or any agency tell if these schools are any good? Then, CHED enters?

Perhaps Braveheart just wants to relate the facts. So, why give that reaction?

On my own analysis: Considering the 'BIG 4' of the countries Universities...

If the number of COE's and COD's are to be considered - not being mean to Ateneo, but i think it is far behind UP and UST same to La Salle- but as far as i know, DLSU has more COE's and COD's than Ateneo - but still, La Salle is a far cry if it will be compared to UP and UST if these classifications are to be considered.

I am confused, why the hell na mayroon pang ranking ng mga schools, e.g. the top Universities kung ang talagang pinagbabatayan naman nila ay ang number of COE's and COD's.

But i heard MAY MGA UNIVERSITIES NA DINADAYA ANG LAHAT NG KANILANG DOCUMENTS para mapasok sila sa top 5 leading Universities ng 'Pinas, kahit nga daw sa ASIAWEEK survey puro daya yung ibang university.

PEACE!
