My sister needs to transfer next school year kasi naman its more practical kung magkasama kami. We're paying too much na for our own places.
Is it hard to transfer?
Like what are the conditions?
Her grades are good naman!

hi! id like to answer ur question. It depends on the course your sister is going to take. there are courses na mahirap mgtransfer like sa BA and Econ. If CSSP, during my time, psych pinakamahirap. kailangan ng mgaasikaso ng grade ng sister mo dito. deadlines must be met. kuha na kayo ng shifting forms sa mga colleges here. i suggest na dpat mga around 1.75 ang GWA ng sis mo to have a chance, pero pag 1.5 tanggap na yan. punta kayo sa mga colleges to chack on the transferring to colleges or at the OUR. start na yun ngayon, pakunin mo na rin ng TCG sis mo. Base it from my experience, ang hirap tlaga but i guess t was worth, gud luck sa pagshift ng sis mo. Although, cheaoer para sa akin din dito sa diliman. pero kung mgdodorm siya dito sa QC, i suggest she stays there in LB na ***.

Friend ko ChE siya sa LB, lumipat siya sa Diliman, granted ChE din nilipatan nya, but as the Coņo Guy has said, may mga cut-offs sa GWA para makatransfer, pero mas madali mag transfer yung within the UP system than coming from outside.
Conditions sa Diliman? Uhmmm... never been to LB, kaya cannot compare the two, I can say for sure na sawap tumoma... este magaral sa Diliman. :)

bakit pa s'ya lilipat? pareho lang naman ang lahat ng UP campuses, a. pare-pareho curriculum, pare-parehong luma ang mga buildings, pare-pareho ang itsura ng mga students. yun nga lang mas malaki ang UPLB. so there...

Sana this time I can get serious answers..
Anyway thanks to Coņo Guy and Dacs
She's taking FOOD TECHNOLOGY right now, at first she wanted to shift course after 1 sem but along the way, she fell in love with the science. She would seek transfer to the College of Home Econ BS Food Technology parin.
About her transferring, she needs to kasi para naman magkasama na kami. Mas maganda parin kasi kung magkasama kayo magkapatid..right?
My thoughts? I think 1.5 or 1.75 is way above the grade to meet. Kasi yung iba nga is 2.5 yung hinihinging average pag within UP system. Hmm pero I'l try to go nalang sa OUR or sa CHE to check out the requirements...
Im not from UP, my classmate managed to transfer to UP after our first year. She was accepted in the College of Architecture, her average was 2.11 ata. So I was thinking na baka mas mababa yung required average pag within the UP system narin.
Thanks again...

you're from UST, right?

what do you mean "way above to meet?" way above to meet by whom? if you meant by her - your sister, pwede pa rin syang lumipat sa diliman even if her gpa is lower than 1.75, say 2.00, however, sa dami ng applicant for transfer (UP system or outsider), it would be safe for her to hit a very high gpa, although, there were times in the past where a gpa of 1.75 wouldn't get in.

someone managed to get into UP Archi from UST with a low gpa of 2.11??? :eyecrazy: that's impossible!!! a shiftee applicant, meaning, a student who's already matriculating in UPdiliman, quota or non, is required a minimum of 2.00 to get into architecture (archi in updiliman is a quota qourse) what more if the applicant is an outsider......... meaning, transfer appliccant like your classmate-friend? the 2.00 is already the minimum and absolutely no trade-offs!!! when you go to the college of archi in upd to ask for the requirements, they'll only tell you a gpa of 2.00 is the needed requirement, but then in reality, a 2.00gpa is way below the gpa of those least qualified transfer applicant. even a non-quota course in upd admits transfer applicants with a gpa of 1.6 and whose college is ranked at the higher tier in CHED's list.
my final advice: allow her to continue her studies at lb. LB is quite a recognized brand abroad, no sales talk or whatsoever bull$hit persuasion intended. her transcript would look nicer and CLEANER if she finished her program in one single campus. but if you have other plans for her - more of a personal reason maybe like na-miss mo na sis mo... transfer her to UST kasi hindi ka rin naman taga UP, diba? ang layo ata ng Diliman sa espana and i made sure that is right kasi i was avoiding na mapadpad sa lugar na yan. sobrang trafic sa espana although i admit, i haven't been there lately.

At the company where I work, its mostly UST Ateneo and La Salle. A few UP grads...pansin ko lang laging bukang-bibig nila UP....very proud...bakit kaya???

HARE: Basta aim for the highest GWA your sister can get. And as Stirling said, eventhough di ganun kataas ang minimum GWA requirement, sa sobrang daming gusto mag transfer sa UPD, very stiff ang competition.

At sa company where I work, its mostly UST, Ateneo and La Salle ang mga utosan, chimay, runner, clerks, secretaries, etc....
A few UP grads but lahat na sa top position.....
bakit kaya???

pag lumipat ka from uplb to ust, para kang lumipat from a water bed to a bed of nails.

i think UP Diliman is not a banig, its more of a papag.
i heard it from our maid's daughter who's studying at UP-d.
"Mama, dito na ko matutulog sa papag." turo sa kamang walang bedsheet.

Nagtatanong lang yung tao on how to shift from LB to Diliman. I dont know why pipol have to make an issue out of it. It just so happens na it would be expensive to rent houses if you're not from a middle class in LB. Tuition fees at the UP System are affordable. UPD and LB are incomparable in the way they offer courses you know. I still prefer a higher average lik up to 1.75 because hindi lang transfers ng ibang school ang kalaban mo, pati yung mga nasa diliman na mg-shishift dun sa course na yun where the colleges would prefer that rather than LB. Maybe so na nasa papag ang pag-aaral sa UP, not like in the private schools, nasa kama ka na, pero after graduation, nasa semento ka na. :crazytongue:
