Hi. How's our local e-business doing? Ok, when i say e-business, these are business that their primary business or source of profit is their websites.
Im referring to the likes of yehey.com and pex of course? Do they still earning and how? What are the other companies into this business?
I wonder if ads in their site will suffice.

i think ads won't suffice, especially these days when the economy's in a slump
the key is diversity
offer promos (like here in pex, they hooked up with nestle for the nesvita promo), offer freebies, offer tours...pex hooked up with the hongkong ad board recently for the shop in hongkong promo
of course, pex got paid for these promotions

Does selling domain names and webspace count? My friend makes a couple of thousand a month, but not enough to live on. Of course he had to do a bit of initial sales and legwork, approaching companies and convincing them they needed to put up websites but now he just bills them every year.

Im referring to top e-businesses or dot coms here.
Web hosting and design can be done nowadays even of a student. Ive been into that business too, but opt not to play on the same ground.
Lots of hosting lowered down their fees as low as P50 a month. It kills the industry. That's why hosting now is just a sideline to me.

I was with a certain online service provider from day one until early this year. At its peak it had a captive audience of about a quarter of a million active users in the Philippine and Singapore. It worked great for a while, but the sudden drop in advertising expenditures after 9/11 killed the business model. They've been trying other revenue streams, from prepaid cards to reseller programs to corporate solutions and mobile applications but without much success.
It's a shame because the concept was great, the technology behind it was scalable and all the people there were bright, passionate, hardworking and motivated. Still, it was a hell of a ride! I wouldn't trade the experience for the world.
The hot tech companies right now are those in the mobile content arena. They're making so much money it's ridiculous!

Well madaming opportunities diyan sa net para kumita. Madami nagsasabi may money sa blogging. Well that is true if you have content and traffic. Kung wala, e di palpak blog mo or website mo. sayang lang pera and effort. Ginagawa ko ngayon PPC (pay per click) ads. Experiences ko nasa link. Meron din mga stuff dyan about blogging for those interested.

yes of course. e-commerce is very advantageous. most of the big companies na nga ngayon entertain orders placed via the Internet. nagbabayad lang ang client using a credit card or a third party company like paypal or xoom, you receive the order and then when everything's in order, ship the items through a courier
