winrar ... since mas malakas sya mag-compress and supported narin nya ang .zip files.

or if u want ... try Tugzip ... it supports the ff archive formats:

ZIP, 7-ZIP, A, ACE, ARC, ARJ, BZ2, CAB, CPIO, DEB, GCA, GZ, IMP, LHA (LZH), LIB, RAR, RPM, SQX, TAR, TGZ, TBZ, TAZ, YZ1 and ZOO

winrar... i especially like the feature that lets you "unzip" the contents in the same folder you placed the source file. sa winzip, ise-set mo pa yung target directory/folder.

Both. Who's stopping you or anyone from installing both?

mas maganda compress ng rar, pero make winrar the default, since it can open both zip and rar. yung winzip eh zip hindi kaya rar

mas compressed kapag .RAR right? ang drawback nga lang e hindi commonly installed ang WinRAR like in PC rental shops.

i use zipzag (http://www.zipzag.com/) at home. i recomend filzip (http://www.filzip.com/) for those who's looking for something that is free.

winrar user for a long time. it supports a lot of extensions na di kaya dati ng winzip. though di ko alam kung kaya na ng latest winzip. but yah, winrar kasi mas maganda rin compression. plus i can zip up my mp3s and still play them without unzipping.

actually, winrar still uncompresses your compressed files albeit transparently. it extracts the file in a temporary folder before playing it.

ditto on the winrar vs. winzip topic though. in fact, whenever i format any pc, i only install winrar as archiving program instead of winzip. aside from the RAR format having better compression, there is also an option that can split a large file into 1.38 mb (diskette size) chunks - very handy for transporting large files by diskettes.

WinRAR can also open .iso (disc image) files.

The big problem with WinZip is that it doesnt open WinRar files. But WinRar opens WinZip.

Thats a major advantage for WinRar.

no it doesn't. you just have to make your compression method to store. rar it. then rename it to *.rar.zip. since the compression method of it is just store.. with no compression happening, winamp reads it like a normal mp3.
