What's the best local MBA school? What do you get out of holding a masters degree in business administration in the local scene?

The best local MBA school is of course Asian Institute of Management. Second is Ateneo, then there is La Salle, UP, UST,

what do you get? you would most likely get hired. plus you would be eligible to teach. but i woudnt recommend taaking up an MBA these days unless your well off and you really want to learn more. the in thing today is nursing and IT

what do you expect from students in a mediocre university like warwick? they're the type who would open their mouths first before thinking.

Having a master's degree in business administration does provide one with some form of advantange in the job market. AIM is regarded as being one of the top schools in asia (if I'm not mistaken AIM ranked third place in asia week) in this field though their fees are astronomical.

According to an Asiaweek Survey I think three years ago,
Asian Universities:
Top 3 - AIM Philippines
Top 24- UP MBA
Top 29 - DLSU MBA

Ateneo did not join the survey. They said it was the top 50 MBA schools in Asia. Too bad *** na ata Asiaweek.

ateneo did not participate, kasi alam nilang dehado sila.

on-topic: AIM, la salle and ust.

kung gusto mo mga secretaria, fresh grad from college, o mga entry-level employees ang classmate, mag la salle ka.
kung Ateneo ang undergrad mo, scholar ka pa. ;)

I think you need to categorize the so called 'local' MBA schools into full time or part-time..
Full time: AIM

Part time: DLSU

"Best" is relative.

Actually, i'm thinking of taking MBA in Ateneo... But I think it's too impractical. Mahal talagang mag aral sa Ateneo, at hindi ganun kadaling makakuha ng scholarship ang graduate students.

OK din ang UP... Where education is cheap and generally excellent, and the isaw is just accross the street. :D

studying MBA in Ateneo is a total waste of time! Forget about the money. you can always earn it anyway. that's something that you couldn't do it with time.

AIM then UP then ADMU or DLSU. Puede ba mag-aminan tayo. Hindi yung laging buhatan ng sariling bangko. Anyway, though AIM's the best and comparable yung standards nila with international MBAs, comparable din yung tuition fees. hehe If you want value for your money go to UP, next best business school. ADMU and DLSU are close, pero not in terms of quality but in location. RCBC lang sila and Rockwell e. Pagod mo rin pumunta sa Diliman if you work in Makati. If foreign MBAs are out of the question, then you don't have money for AIM and you want quality education, matuto ka ng mag-MRT papuntang QC.

i wonder what makes AIM's MBA better than UP's MBA?

as far as i know, UP's MBA grads earn more than AIM's MBA grads. or you know something that we don't? do you mind sharing them here?

Siyempre, monetary compensation after graduation isnt the only criterion. I'm comparing the full-time programs of both schools, wala namang part time ang AIM and wala rin naman executive MBA ang UP. So why AIM's MBA is better than UP's MBA?
Better faculty resources, stricter student selectivity, more linkages with private companies, more resources available to and spent on students. Pero youre incorrect, AIM grads earn a lot more, pero sa alam ko in terms of starting salaries lang. According to the 2000 Asiaweek BSchools rankings, in graduate output (jobs after graduation & median pay), UP ranked 21st while AIM was six places behind. Funny to think that, AIM costs over a million pesos for the whole program pero UP only charges over 50 thousand. Helluh huge difference if you ask me! Pero the training you get din kasi, its better. Laki ng gap sa academic reputation ng AIM and UP CBA. That made the difference really. I am btw an undergrad student of the UP CBA. Anyway, if you're looking for a part time MBA, the UP CBA is the best in the country and one of the best in the Asia-Pacific region. DLSU and ADMU are far behind.

Better faculty resources,
What made you say AIM’s faculty is better than UP’s?

stricter student selectivity,
Are you sure it’s more stringent than UP’s?

more linkages with private companies,
Perhaps.

more resources available to and spent on students.
Like what are these resources?

Pero youre incorrect, AIM grads earn a lot more, pero sa alam ko in terms of starting salaries lang.
Are you sure?
Is there really a survey on this one?

I'm just curious...........

I am graduate of UP's BSBAA program and AIM's MM program. My thoughts about n3X post based on my experiences are:

Better faculty resources
I would agree with this since all of AIM's faculty merong parehong extensive experience in the academe and in private business. A portion of an AIM professor's evaluation is based on consultancies that he/she has generated during the year. They are also encouraged to go back to the corporate world after several straight years of full-time teaching. Several of my professors were cabinet secretaries and a few were former CEO's of big corporations. Heck! One of them even taught Stan Shih on how to grow Acer when it was still a garage operation! Talk about experience!

Although, I don't know all the professors in UP, the ones I do know are mostly pure academicians. Hehe! Baka batukan ako ng mga FINEX coaches ng UP.

Pero a lot of AIM's professors are UP grads. Some of them were former UPCBA professors.

Student selectivity
Well I could only speak for my program (MM). MM is a 1-year program requiring 6 years of work experience that should include at least 3 years of managerial experience. Medyo stringent nga sila, since they only accepted 38 although there were a lot of applicants. 38 is below their breakeven number for the program!

They also ask students to leave if they feel the student can't hack it. During our batch, a couple were asked to leave the program. Hehe! TY na lang daw sa nabayarang tuition fees!

Corporate Linkages
If we're talking about accounts -- yes, madaming corporate accounts ang AIM. However, if you're talking about job placement, well we wish that it could be better -- but they are improving, especially job placement outside the country! My Indian classmate said he found it easy looking for a nice job in Singapore because AIM was recognized there.

I've heard though that job placement is one of DLSU's main strengths, sa UP MBA hindi ko alam, pero nung nag-graduate ako sa undergrad, walang problema sa trabaho. *okay*

its true naman e, most of our teachers in UP CBA are pure academicians. pero i guess, asa quality din nung students. and yeah, most profs of the AIM are from UP (actually one-third, 19), tapos one fourth naman from ateneo (14). Others intl na and DLSU.

noon walang problema grads ng UP kasi siyempre okay pa yung economy, pero now the UPCBA-SE Career Assistance Program is working hard para matulungan yung mga grads. Well I hope, mag-improve din yung students and yung profs kasabay nung pag-improve ng facilities. Hulk, have you seen the renovated BA bldng? Wala na rin ang Stat. :~(

I've seen the outside of the building. Bakit yellowish yung kulay? :wow:

Pero honestly it should have been renovated years ago. Muntik na kasing ma-condemn yung building after the 1990 earthquake, tapos years after may kotseng binagsakan ng masonry sa parking lot.

Ano yung mga bagong features at facilities ng building?
