Can ayone tell me where I can buy vintage clothes here in the Philippines? I go to ukay-ukay stores and sometimes I get lucky. Some of most precious finds (Pucci pantsuit, polka-dot circle skirt, pink princess dress, pillbox hat, embroidered bellbottoms, white knee-high boots, bolero jacket, trench coat, Jackie-O shades, and ala-Audrey Hepburn little black dress) are from various ukay-ukay stores, and I bought those items at such low prices!

However, I have to go to a lot of ukay-ukay stores before I can find one decent vintage article because ost of the ukay-sukay stores sell contemporary used clothes. Now, does anyone here know if there's such a thing as a vintage clothing store here in the Philippines? I don't really care much about the price. Vintage clothing is a good investment for me.

And since we're in the topic of vintage clothing...anyone else who's into it? And if yes, why are you into it?

I'm into vintage clothing because I don't want to look generic, and because most of the contemporary clothes I see don't reflect my personality. Sometimes, though, I buy contemporary clothing if it has a retro feel to it.

To the mods: I tried looking for a similar thread, but the search function isn't working, and I got tired of scanning the thread titles by the time I got to page 12.

Into vintage rin. I agree with you...looking through ukay2 stuff usually leads to modern clothing. I heard that there's this store in Makati, Rainbow Bazaar, which sell vintage clothing, but I have no idea where it is exactly.

For now, my haul here consists of my mom's and dad's old clothes. From mom, her 60s shiift dresses and party clothes. I had to have them altered...liit ng waistline nila dati. From dad naman I have his old Adidas tracksuits, polo shirts, grandad-paul newman type sweaters.

Nakakainggit nga yung friend ko, her mom kept a lot of stuff na branded pa, like Lanvin, Mga MAry Quant, etc.

I like old clothes because I don't want to look like everyone else. My style is more of Audrey with a twist. I just got new black ballet flats yesterday :D

Hay, my mom and dad weren't able to save their old clothes. Sayang nga eh, coz I love the dresses my mom in her old photos. My dad's pairs of flared pants were pretty cool too, from what I've seen in the family album.

Anyway, I love shift dresses as well. Cool naman, you're able to acquire your mom's old ones. :)

Hmmm. I wonder where Rainbow Bazaar is. Gotta hunt for it. :)

Hey guys! if im not mistaken rainbow bazaar is just right at jupiter st. makati. i remember my mom and i went there before it's parang salvation army type. its actually the business of one of my titas friends, they collect old stuff from residents of forbes dasma and san lo so the stuff there are pretty much signature stuff but they're cheap. Bambang market near china town has so many nice vintage clothes. that's where i used to buy. daming artists who buy there too!

Miko... ang hirap maghanap sa bambang ah :) Ang dami doong one-piece maintenance guy suits... tipong pang airplane mechanic, tsaka mga army fatigues. My friend and I had a blast looking for her halloween costume there. BTW... where in Jupiter is it? Thanks.

Badass... yung sa friend ko... ganda ng stash... her mom had lots of old Lanvin and Pucci. Mas swerti yun, hehehe.

I've been to Bambang! Masarap mamili dun. Misa Hayase, meron akong gasoline-boy outfit na nabili dun. Also, I'm addicted to Pucci! Suwerte naman ng friend mo.

I'm currently in a flapper-look phase; unfortunately, hirap makahanap ng 1920s clothes, or kahit 20s-inspired man lang.

Miko, anong landmarks near Rainbow Bazaar? Where exactly in Jupiter is it? Thanks! :)

I go to femalenetwork.com and there are a couple of girltalkers there that sell really nice, re-worked vintage clothes. As in I am so in love with my purchases, and for a great price too! One of them supplies Souk, so it's much better to go to her directly coz the price is much lower.

purple_madness: that is the cutest store! sayang lang i live in the south, kaya it's hard for me to get to cubao. yup, it's hard to find vintage clothes at good prices. what exactly is a "good" price for clothes?
Bambang is a good place to shop tho...

^^ to add lang:

The name of the Shop is Vintage Pop and it's owned by Bong Salaveria (former advertising guy)

The exact address of his shop is:
Shop 66, Marikina Shoe Expo, Araneta Center, Cubao, Q.C.
0918-5003460
vintage_pop@yahoo.com

He really has great vintage sutff, pricey lang yung iba. but mahirap din kasi to find the stuff he has. i was egging him to sell me nga this old wall clock (what you'd see in school classrooms circa 70s), kaso lang ayaw niya ibenta kasi di pa niya mapagana.:depressed:

try marni's room, it's a store set up by designer louis claparols in malate. a recent issue of preview (december? jan-feb?) featured the store with their contact info. i'll try to dig up that issue.

i haven't gone myself, but apparently ok dito because the clothes are well-chosen, repaired and laundered before being put on sale. :-)

i love vintage clothes too! i started out with a lot of my mom's stuff, then "branched out" to ukays. my favorite ukay is right below the anonas mrt station. :-)
